Yeap ! I agree the BHG gunboat is unbeatable with a bomber (and he may not) !
I tried, and after 40 minutes of fight, i finally got enough luck to shot him with one supernova before his shield was recharging (1 or 2 sec left) ... but he needs 2 to die !!!!
their is only 1 tactic, use supernova 2times to put his shield as low as possible, then when fully recharged (energy), 2 times more as fast as possible (we have to shot the second time exactly when it's ready !)
do it with their agility and fire power (then we have to move constantly !) is really a defi !
I know I'm not the best bomber but 40 mins is too much !!!
Gunships shouldn't have more than 4 turrets. Aren't they supposed to be support vessels at all? There is no point in trying to make them capable of matching a gunboat in a 1v1.
i'm not certain i understand the role the gunship plays. in my experience they seem like just another gunboat.
why wouldn't they fit in as either a SHF or a gunboat?
from my interactions they do seem a bit too manueverable. this is where my arguement about classification comes in.
to me gunships seem to be a ship with gunboat power and fighter agility, if they are going to have the agility of a fighter make them a SHF and limit their firepower....if they are going to be gunboat strong, make them a gunboat and limit their agility.
right now they seem to be nothing more than a hybrid SHF/GB, with the strength's of both and weaknesses of neither.
sorry for the rant, i don't have enough experience to discuss the stats on them, just an overall confusion is all i got to offer

You've hit the nail right on the head, it's the reason everyone's complaining, 6 gunboat guns, ample energy, gunboat shield and enough hull for it to take ages to kill and bomber mobility and smaller than a SHF..
i remember igiss mentioning that there is no class difference between gunships and gunboats. - its entirely made up by players. - but they all belong to the very same class of ships - gunboats.
its a bit like heavy fighters and very heavy ones. - they are the same shipclass - or so its said. ( this classification refers to their role - not to their stats )
of course the stats say differently. anyway - the bhg gunship is a gunboat - so the bhg has 2 gunboats. the roles of both is fighter / bomber defense.
By pure serendipity I made an acquaintance with the BH gunship about 2 months ago and have been flying it every since.
Yes, the gs is a nasty piece of business. But an ubership it is not.
I am an average pilot who's had both bad days and good piloting the gs.
I've died more often than I have won.
The BH gs is a cd-magnet. If I'm facing 2 or more opponents, I won't be able to escape. I get cd-swarmed and it's all over but the decompression of my cockpit. Npcs take me out of cruise with wasps regularly.
The gs has 55k of hull. Even with mk 8 cap armor, the gs will disintegrate with 2 supernova hits to the hull. Unless my counting is flawed. All I know, is that 1 supernova takes my hull to a third. Two bombers will give any gs a run for it's money.
The gs unhittable? Dunno about that. I get hit a lot. Ask the HG who was flying his BD bomber against me in Sigma 13 and Chugoku. It was a close fight but in the end, I got tooled. And Asno, methinks you underrate your own aiming skills in that lunchbox of yours.
I'm going to attempt to be diplomatic here as I choose my next words.
It seems to me, that most of the folks desiring a nerfing of the gs are those who have to fight them.
And it seems that Bounty Hunters are damned if they do, damned if they don't, as far as their ships are concerned. It seems that the only way people (unlawfuls) would be happy is if the BH flew around exclusively in hammerheads. Nice, easy, impotent targets.
I've had to fight a few OC dessies and more than a few lunchboxes. I could wring my hands and write pages of complaints against the dessie being too powerful and too agile or the lunchbox having too many turrets. But I don't and I won't. What's the point?
In closing, I think the best way to balance the gs is to make it larger. Bigger target, more cargo room, more realism. 20 - 25% should be sufficient. At that size, it should still qualify as a gunship.
The monstrocity that is the BHPwnship needs one of three things.
1) Replaced
2) Removed
3) Given a near lethal injection of steroids to pump it from "lolwut" dimensions to be a bit more in line with its friends and family.
The only thing smaller than the BHlulship is its shield bubble, which is smaller than the model. Unless you count its hitbox which is smaller still yet.
this ship could be balanced easy enough...fixed hit box, reduced power plant to 300k, leave 6 turrets (reducing would require player wipe) and slightly reduced agility...this is easily done and will not require player wipe...it will balance the ship...
Simply pump it up 50 percent in all directions, at least and give it manoeveribility, not able to outurn even SHF's, but keep the other stats. In fact, this measure would leave the Orca redundant, even if it would have 6 forward firing turrets. But this measure will have no consequences. No file has to be changed. No wipes have to be made.
Btw, i remember the reactions of many players, when i did suggest to nerve it, while the 4.84 Betas were tested.
