Im for implementing this Megalodon but only for OFLs for some time. THEN, when indies will see MIGHT OF CORE, and developers fix all isues and thinking about balancing, give it to filthy right-wing supremacists Core indies.
And yeah, in that case, make heavy BS for Odrer to, then Meg could make Megaerodon to oppose.
Upd: Im sure peoples will continue do it on neph, because of Neutrality™
Do we really need more than one thread about the same flow of Core tears to implement a not-that-high quality ship just so they can have a bigger one than Zoners? I'd rather have the Neph downgraded. Or get Jinx or Swallow back to model something actually nice.

While that would be nice, the zoner tears would be so plentiful they would drown us.
Who cares about Zoner tears? At most it's good fuel alternative to Deuterium.

People seem to care more about Zoner Tears than about anything the Council does.
I honestly have to smirk each time I see this discussion. "We can't have a heavy battleship, so nobody else should have one!" -> "I don't have much Sci-Data, so nobody else should have it!"
Half of the people here are treating this thread like flood, the other half wants to nerf things that aren't in any way related to the actual point. Yes, Core and Order heavies would be neat. The Megalodon model looks not bad at all. The Order Dreadnought is in the game as well. Things are there. People want heavy battleships because it is a different way of playing them than playing light battleships. Meanwhile, Nomads have two Marduks and two models for the Ish'tar. I think if Lyth would have simply done the Megalodon RP he teased two years ago already and requested an unique SRP ship to at least have the Megalodon in the game would have resulted in it becoming a faction perk that later could had even opened to indies. Looking at it now, it looks like Lyth wants the full package at once, which honestly looks from the other perspective like a demand.
The way things are demanded and discussed, it will looks to me like the Yellows are less likely to agree with it. Trial by forum doesn't help anyone. On the other hand, it is infuriating to see Thebes and Megalodon not being a thing while they practically exist, while Nomads and Corsairs and even Outcasts (indies) frequently fight stuff in Delta. With Ranseurs and Legates, and I do it as Ish'tar since the new Marduk is quite a weird medium battleship.

Logistics/Economics
For starters, there's a huge amount of Corporations/Governments that are bankrolling us or supplying us to help us with our operations. We also tout our own logistical division that can freely move supplies in and out of the Edge Worlds (unlike our enemies). There's also Iridium and Alien technology that we sell, two economic areas in which we have a sizeable/total monopoly in. We're rich.
Population
Our levels of immigration would be relatively higher than that of other powers in the Edge Worlds because we're treated as a lawful state-like entity by the greater Sirian populace. The Core/Omicronis is advertised as a place where you can both strike it rich and start a new life. We also import criminals and slaves that no one wants and put them to work for our war machine, as well as enslaving POWs. There's also ROBOTS (but I don't think we need to go there). I would also honestly consider that Core and Order shipbuilding is at a level where they minimise the required number of Crew for a functioning battleship.
Roleplay
There's also the fact that we are a faction that prides itself on advanced technology RP. What's the point in such RP if we can't actually work towards obtaining anything. The Megalodon was going to be a product of that roleplay. Heck, I was actually planning on request an event to RP it's creation (the conversion of the Battleship Jupiter into the first Megalodon) - a buffed inter-region Iridium route for traders that would spike activity up. It feels like we've just suddenly had this big, superficial lock wedged onto us and now we're drastically limited in what we can do.
I wholeheartedly agree that you should get a second battleship for gameplay reasons alone (more factions should get more ships in general), but the lore nonsense isn't doing you any favors. I find the idea of an elitist faction on the edge of the world with no allies in the Omicrons and all enemies (Order, Nomads, Corsairs, Outcasts, AI, Hessians, SCRA, Zoners ALL hate Core) that keeps winning and expanding laughable. No matter the financial support from IC or whatever else you come up with, you're too small of a faction both population-wise and space-wise to be able to keep up with everyone else just in the Omicrons, let alone colonize a planet, expand into Omegas and Sigmas and so on.
You can say "high-tech weaponry", but you're still way too outnumbered to close the gap. No other faction has such terrible diplomacy except the Nomads, such a faction IRL would get crushed and squeezed by everyone relatively quickly. There's no mechanic for that in Discovery nor do I say "delete Core", but you're roleplaying it in a way that it's powergamed to the skies.
I'd say the first step to you progressing your faction is improving diplomacy. Why are you hostile with everyone who's your direct neighbor? That's just asking for a disaster no matter how strong you are. You're roleplaying like Gallia while being a very, -very- small portion of its strength, without counting the established support from multiple corporations, colonized planets and so on that they have and you don't.

Says the person who invented cloak sci data farming who spends several hours systematically combing systems in a logical grid search pattern as soon as the event spawns go up. )))) <3
