Or, by the time you arrive, you are ending up as blue because the gank doesn't stop. I think there are better things to log for than trying to balance out a gank.

Can you imagine if everyone had this approach to PvP? PvP would be dead outside of conn and events.
Feedback about ganking would be fine if people would remain civil and reasonable on both sides. Feedback should not about publicizing factions' allegedly bad behavior. Feedback should be about assisting faction to be better.
Personally, I understand that ganking via numbers is one thing that can't be helped most of the time, however I absolutely dislike complete overkill ganking, where fights are being joined by over-class-ships, such as fighter brawls being joined by capital ships (GB and up).
Each battle is different and these things might happen or might not happen.
I have participated in many battles were I was attacked by silent engagers and my foes stopped shooting me and inRP or ooRPly informed the rule violator to stand down/start RP. These kind players have my upmost respect as it shows true sportsmanship.
Perhaps we should start visiting feedback threads and appreciate good behavior by factions too? After all, positive encouragement is so much better.
Ganking can been seen in very different perspectives.
1 PVP ace vs 1 noob player in my perspective is ganking even vs 4 or 5 noob players is a feast for the ace (this assuming same lvl of equipment, ship guns etc ...)
1 pvp ace vs 1 noob player in a higher ship class, ergo vhf vs gb or better, i see it as ganking from the noob player, even tho there are some aces out there that can win on this fight if vs a GB, but it's a challenge for them.
So imho numbers shouldn't be the measure to what ganking is, but drama will always happen and it's not the first time that a pvp ace comes with drama because 3 or 4 noob players "ganked" him even tho he managed to kill 3 of them, or 1 noob player comes cry he was ganked by a pvp ace.

I guess we'd need some players with some spine for it to work. Listen, no one, not even me, sets out hunting guys with big groups to pursue a gank situation. Stop acting like the only way to enjoy the game is mind control everyone into a formula for their gameplay.
By 'trying to outnumber' your opponents, yes, it means if you know an enemy battleship is blocking a system, and you want it gone, if you can get 3 bombers or 2 and another cap (etc), you go hunt it down. You have every right to treat it seriously according to your roleplay. If that battleship in question wants to linger in space it takes its own risk. Maybe no one shows up, maybe a few ships come and blow it away. You don't complain that one side used more, and/or all it could muster to eliminate the threat. If that player can't handle it, it might be in the wrong line of gameplay/roleplay. I'm not saying bring 10 Dunkirks to fight one valor, but usually to win, you need a little bit of balance in the winner's favor. Pursuing an advantage for your side is what makes this simulation of space war awesome, because that's what we'd do for real.
Also, that's why I never conn or attend events, because to me Conn is a waste of time aside from training, and most events these days worry too much about rules that contradict the open ended nature of how the game is supposed to be played, which doesn't really entice me much.
I've seen ganked snub pilots come out on top so many times over the years.
So i don't have much of an opinion on that.
As for battleships.
one only has a chance if they have a competent CD'er if they wish to take on multiple battleships (i'm talking 2 or at max 3 vs 1 here)
but then the lone CD'er could get ganked, and you get EK'd on.
I want battleship thrusters back. With more thought put into them.
Maybe have different classes of thruster for light, medium and heavy battleship.
I know this would be hard to balance but it would really rock the current chase or be chased battleship meta that has been around for far too long.
I don't wanna change the skill requirements i simply want to make battleship team fights more dynamic. this would also help against EK'ers and if you lacked a CD'er.
TL : DR BATTLESHIP GANK OPINION
no CD'er = you die to gank
CD'er = you got a good chance up to 2 foes, anymore and ur at big risk.
I don't like being ganked cos its pretty much guaranteed death if my snub is in trouble.

Yes any kind of honour like this is bad for pvp.
It makes for not only an excuse as to why you died (which could be due to bad team coordination or just out skilled what ever)
and drives people to the edge of salt where they talk crap and say you're bad because u gotta gank like lol no we just wanna have fun fast combat maybe you should improve your team coordination or something.
I'm just going to slip something I said earlier on Discord in hopes it gives people a different perspective;
Discord Wrote:Alte/MokaToday at 6:24 AM
I just log to fight.
I don't care, 30 miniutes later I go back
Then I die, and I rinse and repeat
Last night I got two kills outside Hyowo
I still have fun, it's not about who wins for me
I get a kill, sweet! I get two, I think I'm a pro then die by my own mine
Essentially, log. A 5 minute pew and you die can break the monotony of powertrading/mining. Go shoot, kill or die, go back to what you were doing. Feel like a bit of excitement again? Head to Sigma 21 after that trade run.

Ganked
Gang Killed
That's what i and everyone else i've met has always seen the definition as even if google tells me its using some cheesy unskillful method to kill someone.
If i die in any game to an insta kill ability in a 1v1
if anyone does, you never hear they got ganked, you hear a load of random stuff like "Oh he cheesed me, Oh he just memed me, HE JUST USED A f***ING ABILITY AS I WAS ABOUT TO WIN AAAAARHG"
Trust me here, the mass majority considers gank to mean ganged up upon and killed by multiple people.
as in you've been killed by many people at once, and it does go for 8v3, BUT if it started lets say 15v15 and if that many died on either side, then the last few could say they got ganked in the end. BUT over all it was just a lost team fight.
Skill can determine the end which results in a gank.
But skill in a 1v1 doesn't make a gank. numbers do.
it's not as subjective of an definition as you think. (now days at least idk if u were some WoW or Ultima player or anything back when the term originated)
