You're way too optimistic with that release date.
In the last update, they decreased HW requirements a lot though.
So I would be optimistic and say it might come out by 2030.
Until then, Disco is here for you ;o)
I'd probably still play if there was an active community larger than 20 people.
I mean the server hits its limit during server events. Its really a matter of being able to match the most alive times. Most players are in Europe, Asia or Russia. This makes the most active times at noon to 3pm for me here in the States. Its not always easy making it to prime time but you can still have fun regardless. Also keep in mind its crunch time at colleges, so alot of people just dont have the time atm.

I mean when I was active (2009-2012-ish), the server load was around at least 80-100 players constantly. During peak hours (Europe evening hours), you had to try getting in for 5-10 minutes, because the 200 player limit was always full.
Sure, you can have fun even now when there's an event organized, but for me, the most fun always used to stem from spontaneous events and interactions, little tussles evolving into large, multi-faction skirmishes, roleplaying with other traders, pirates, smugglers, chasing miners, etc.
Those times sure are gone, but I'm sad to see no game decided to reproduce this feeling.

It was indeed, but I'm actually used to the 200 player headcount, spontaneous interactions in such a vast universe are sadly nigh impossible with 50-70 players.

Well fam, I was used to having quickness on Revenant's Impossible Odds ability, but now I have to deal with it having only speed as a boon. Things change... stop living in the past.
I manage to find spontaneous interactions regularly even nowadays. Sometimes even with just 30 players around. It's possible, adapt and enjoy what's still there. And there is still enough to enjoy.
