I think people will expect event staff to make mistakes in future and will definitely over-react at smallest opportunity.
Events might as well be detached from the main story development, and just be a times of activities that bring fun and rewards without any lasting consequences then, or with minimal ones.

Nothing new. The place has always been like this.
Our only hope is that as many people as possible realise that we are the last vestiges of a great game and we all do our best to keep it going and keep FL alive.
As much as I want to put a stupid message on here because it's Mep and that's what happens...
I can't agree more. It's why I've come back, as have a lot of people who are old school. Freelancer is such a unique game. And this community, for good or bad, is so unique.
I really don't want to see this community try and hang itself, because goddamn it's unique. Where else do you get a game that's 16 years old, with such a vested community in a system of the game that was never actually built on?
There's a lot that we can complain about, and there's a good reason why many complain and don't leave, because there's nothing like it. Like I said, for good or bad, we all appreciate what's happening. Because some of us, really don't want to move onto most other games because... They are either *Insert expletive of choice here* or have a really low replay-ability factor.

Wow. I am so glad I didn't participate. Though the few Order people that made some alts to join said they are far more confused than anything.
EDIT:
Considered doing no strings attached random events to stress-test the concept and ruleset before applying it to something that can have an impact, even if of least grandeur magnitude?

And that is a shame. You are missed as a player.
To all, I know I've made my share of mistakes as a player, more recently then before but I own them.
I've also been an Admin so I know how much work goes into this server and this game. If I had more time, I would do it again. FYI, it's the only game I play anymore as I still love it. I can't change Doc. He is what he is but I can expand other characters.
Seriously though, I think it's time to end the finger pointing and blaming and make this game the game we all love. I mean, we wouldn't be here if we didn't.
