I'd be perfectly OK with that. I'd be perfectly fine to have snubs not damage caps and caps not damage snubs so there are no instakills. I don't mind either if all insta killing things are removed, not just preferential ones. Making snubs "invulnerable" to caps and vice versa will make things fair in some fights, but imagine caps pilling up in snub group fights just to troll them, firing their guns to annoy and getting in the way.
For my fellow community members that share the same ideas behind SNAC nerf: No matter how much we yell about and show devs that removing a core mechanic of the mod was the wrong thing to do thing they will not even bother to read the comments. Just how they did this without even asking the community. Understand that YOU DON'T MATTER for them! The server runs by two big rules: 1. Devs are always right and 2. When devs are not right, apply first rule.
add snac back in and also 6 missile slots for snubs so they can instakill too
or delete snack and no missiles but also no more snub/bomber instakills for any other ship class
easy fix and done
alternatively make caps and snubs unable to shoot eachother with exception of gunboats because they are anti snub by design and 2 snubs can delete one anyway
game made 999999999999999999999999999 times better in 1 easy patch everyone is happy

I'd be down with lowering the tracking speed of capital ship heavies so that you can't easily track fighters with them. Same for implementing (possibly new?) capital ship primaries that are in a similar position - slow, low fire rate, low tracking speed - so that they're not snub-swatting long range spread machines.
Generally speaking I'm of the opinion that capital ships feel super fast in general with the absolute walls of 2.00 and 3.03 fire they put out, but I'm reluctant to propose changing that because "battleship and escorts blasting off hundreds of pew pew lasers per second" really is one of Discovery's iconic things, at least visually speaking.

I was flying an Eclipse Heavy Bomber, with ASARUS (Shield SNAC) and a Antimatter Cannon (Normal SNAC), I remember the days when 1 ASARUS hit would deshield a gunboat. But not anymore. I remember the days when the ASARUS (Codename weapon) would deshield a cruiser with 2 hits. and for a battlecruiser it was 4 hits. A battleship was 5 - 6 hits. I remember those days but not anymore.
But now with the SNAC, it feels like it takes alot more energy, and slower regen but does alot less damage and range. It's totally not worth using anymore, and the Scrocher Bomb and Neutralizer takes way too much damage and does not have the range to be effective unless you are flying in a straight line within 500m of a battleship. To the point a battleship can insta you because you are flying so close because of the range of the bombs is pathetic. Let's not forget with the bombs to be effective you need to mount two scrocher to do any hull damage.
And nova's, I love these but CM's are very effective now to the point CM's and Flak's makes nova's near impossible to hit, even if you are using the 4.2k range of a nova. It's very difficult for an expierence bomber pilot to use a bomber effectively again, no wonder why people are abusing the chainguns with hellfire rockets to kill snubs.

Its more fun anyways! but its like the snac, takes a bit of practice to make them work. In both cases it seems fair to me. Hate to say it but people only fly fighters for easy blues, in the weakest ship class and then complain about being insta'd if they get whacked quickly. it should be accepted this is the way it is.
Consider this space warriors: We're lucky we dont deal with jamming. In a more realistic scenario, when battle starts, everyone would be jamming everyone else and all guided weapons will be useless. So missiles should be useless, and eyeballing it with good old fashioned guns and rockets should be coming back! (or manually aimed cannons).
The real problem with snub fights and balance in them is turn rates of the snubs. Thats the real reason they are both over powered sometimes, especially in groups.
Make snubs more reasonable opponents by drastically lowering the TURN RATES of the ships, and it takes a bit more to land a hit, or out fly a pursuer. Instead of nerfing the weapons, nerf the ships, and slow down these battles finally. If you cant turn around a snub on a dime anymore, we might see things balance out a bit finally. This is the only fighter flying game I've seen where you need to grow new brain tissue to keep up with how fast it all goes down. Imagine figters/bombers turning more like 5kers, and we have slower battles where you get a second to take aim on a guy. It would also make jousting more interesting!
