You were able to get a trader down and still competeable against snubs. But it wasnt too good in any of these roles to be somewhere near OP.
It might be still a hybrid between bomber/fighter but now in a bad way: slow and low firepower - nearly useless now.
This does not include any demand to rechange it, as I know that would be kinda like fight against windmills - so just for my curiosity.
Sup, been flying the Werewolf since before it was pilot-nerfed twice prior to the recent rework of SHFs as a whole. SHFs were stronger than gunships, had the capabilities of bombers, and were faster than many fighters, while having the armor of cau8 freighters as well as their powercores, along with the ability to mount codes and fighter class weaponry.
The reason Gunships and Bombers do not have fighter class weaponry is because those weapons are not balanced for upwards of 2350+ powercore regen, in other words, it was out the wazoo broken as hell because you could permafire weapons designed for burst damage, indefinitely, retaining burst level damage output for more than 10 seconds which as you would imagine shreds literally anything it touches. In addition to those powercores they also moved just as fast as many fighters due to their ancient design philosophy that had nothing to do with balance in any way, so they could maneuver on par with fighters, while being superior to fighters in every single way aside from size, and the size difference alone does not make their previous designs balanced, as again, they had superior powercores and weaponry to go with that size.
I dunk all over fighters in my chaingun bombers, and can still rip apart transports, and I can still do that on my SHF, the Werewolf being one of, if not THE lightest SHF, I have no issue whatsoever killing transports, it just takes a lot longer and encourages me to fly with someone, and or bring a heavier ship. They are essentially the butch version of fighters now, fighters typically can't kill a transport by themselves and the balance philosophy of current day is that they shouldn't be able to. You certainly can, it just takes an hour or so.
If you skipped the wall of text overhead the short answer is they didn't want SHFs being able to do everything other classes could do without any drawbacks, they were overloaded. If you don't think so, your head isn't screwed on properly and you're probably upset that you can't get away with slapping everything without consequence.
As I said like 4 times now, I wasnt against a nerf in generall, but just said this one was to heavy. Remove some of the Nanos/Batts and lower Level of CAU were reasonable.
But even before it was quite easy to kill a shf with a hf - you could just easily dodge them and SHF were eating mines like hell. Above that they had a high mass - so accelerated slower beside their lower turnrate - and were just bigger, so like a easy kill in a mass fight.
And for the powercore:
Im used to vanilla pvp - zero energy guns for pvp - so permafire was pretty normal, it may took a while to adapt, but tbh it doenst matter at all in snub pvp above a certain level (if you have 12k or 20k do not make that big of a deal)
That ship was meant to be a hybrid between a fighter and a bomber - and it done that role pretty good, now it is juet like another fighter, just could put them to VHF and delete SHF class.
It just suck that a ***** battlefrighter is now superior to it in his role lol, but I will stop complaining about it, the werewolf actually is still kinda fun to play, just gve it its nova back

best answer in this threat so far - in my opinion you this threat can be closed, I didnt wanna cry, I was just curious tbh - as I said; I demand (lol as I could) no changes - they are still useable. Would be nice if there will be another fighter/bomber hybrid in the future, cause that was good for the game
You'd think that after all these years ships in this mod would be among the best balanced ships of all space games out there but noooooo, whenever players take the time to actually get good at flying something the way it's been implemented in the mod, they "fix" it all over again.
The only time I actually lost against an SHF was when I got too cocky and tried to box face it in my Marauder. I underestimated the player's aiming skill and got served for it but that was my mistake, not an argument to nerf SHF's. Ever other time I faced an SHF whether in a fighter or a bomber I came out on top and I'm not even in the top pvp players in the community. I get my ass handed to me in Conn on the regular so how are these SHFs such a threat? Who tf is complaining??
Just remove the mod altogether. Do roleplay on forums only. Roll dice to decide who wins which fights. There. No more balance issues.

+1
i don't even remember when was the last time i won a pvp with the Osprey, i manage some victories but way more defeats. Like i said before, i thank the devs for they waste their real life time with this, but the same time lost to ruin one entire class of ships, could be used to fix bugs for example, there are a lot of then.

The playerbase is so small I think the criers often end up facing the same few individuals who are pvp pro's. And they don't stop to think: "is it me that made a mistake? is the other player just that good at flying whatever they're flying? naaah, it has to be the SHF that's OP" or "no, definitely the SNAC is OP" or "no way that trying to fight a bomber in a transport with only 4 guns and no CAU can possibly go wrong. Obviously bomber torpedoes are OP! So what if they have area of effect damage? nerf it so they deal no damage to hull if they hit a hardpoint! or, or, even better! Make them fly BACKWARDS if the player launching them is in engine kill!"
I've spent weeks flying across Sirius collecting codename guns, doing the activity after which the mod is called: discovering, right? exploration.
I ended up with an extensive arsenal of codenames to experiment with and create different type of builds until I found something that stuck with me and so I did and then I spent months getting good at using each of those builds....guess what they did next? They overhauled the way codenames worked.
Suddenly my 2.00's were 1.00's, my 750's were 600, they even changed the animations! fk having red Heimdalls to go with my character's theme which I have been building upon for the past 11 years, let's make them piss yellow and call it an "update"
So where I'm getting at, I feel like the people in charge of this are crapping all over player investment, time and effort. They just do whatever without regard to how it affects the broader community so I'm off playing Elite Dangerous, it's like a more realistic Freelancer 2 on a 1:1 scale of our galaxy.
That's right, somehow THEY don't need to shrink systems and cut off vanilla routes to make players meet and I don't need to file an extensive CV with them in the hopes of getting something that's part of the game. If I earn something there it's mine to keep. I don't feel afraid that I'm gonna log in one day in Elite Dangerous and find out that my engineered beam lasers with thermal vent will have completely different functions from what I've build them for or that my multi cannons will have their refire rate halved for no reason or that my Cobra magically lost 30% of it's hull and got it's power core circumsized.
I am guessing you lack the ability to understand that before this SHF rework, they could without breaking much of a sweat 1v1 gunboats.
them being 4.85 bombers in the sense that they could mount bomber guns + snub guns wasn't a good design considering all them had EHP out the ass and could mount cap 6+.
get real please, or maybe just stop posting word vomit on forums (:

A fkin vhf can 1v1 a gunboat if it's skilled enough or if the gunboat pilot is oblivious to what it's doing. I've seen it happen. I've done it. I was 1v1'd in my Condor by a RHA VHF. I have 1v1'd gunboats in a Chimera.
You try getting close to a Solaris build GB in any SHF see how well that works for you.
Chuba I wouldn't mix together balance and function.
I think we established that arrarstra and plier were just fine before and not unbalanced - all that was needed was removing high cau. Plier even got buffed quite a bit now - it was the stats and op reverse, not the bomber fighter gun mix concept that were broken.
We are waiting for bomber rework, I very much hope some SHF will go back to the mixed class concept after it happens
