I will provide you with a short briefing on the situation around the Kepler system. The following information is highly classified and should not be shared with any other parties, including other cells of the Order or branches of the Libertonian forces.
The Kepler system has been fully engulfed by a dark matter storm of unusual intensity, most likely originating from the neighboring Alberta system, now inaccessible by common means. Within this storm, several gravitational anomalies have formed, internally designated K1*, K2, K3, and K4.
Several parties have taken an interest in studying these anomalies, including the Technocracy of Auxesia, the independent researcher Vincent Abrams, and Section 8 itself.
Observation revealed an increase in Nomad activity around these anomalies, K1* in particular, prompting a redeployment of the Unto Nightfall to the Kepler system.
Evidence suggests that these anomalies may not be of natural origin, instead being of alien design. Evidence further indicates that anomaly K1* functions as a gateway of sorts, comparable to naturally occurring jump holes. Several individuals, including Vincent Abrams, a number of freelancers, and Auxesian elements have been able to pass through this gateway into an unknown system and later return.
The location of the gateway's terminus is unknown. Interrogation of individuals that have crossed over has revealed little usable information; they appear to suffer from an inhibition, preventing them from speaking freely of their experiences.
K1* and the unknown system accessible through it appear to be guarded by as of yet not fully known alien entities, designated Sentinels. These, like the Slomon K'hara, appear to be of Daam K'vosh origin, likely another weapon of their design. Outwardly, these Sentinels appear almost identical to common Nomads. They possess, however, significantly more advanced defensive and offensive capabilities, rendering them far more dangerous than equivalent Nomad forms.
Witness reports indicate that the Nomads themselves are wary of these Sentinels, even being attacked by them.
In an effort to further investigate K1*, the unknown system, and the Sentinels, Section 8 has entered into an agreement of limited cooperation with elements of the Technocracy of Auxesia.
Section 8 advises the Fifth Fleet not to deploy any assets into the Kepler system and to discourage elements of other Libertonian forces from doing so. Increased human activity may trigger increased Nomad or Sentinel activity in return. Until we are certain of the Sentinels' nature and purpose, they must be treated with utmost caution. Further, in light of Section 8's cooperation with Auxesian elements, Section 8 requests that the Auxesian operative flying the callsign Revenant not be engaged by Fifth Fleet units.
Captain Uhmen, I will be candid. We have no idea what exactly we are dealing with. I am afraid that these Sentinels are a weapon even more powerful and dangerous than the Nomads, capable of causing catastrophic damage to humanity if unleashed. We have practically no information about their origin, the system they are apparently guarding, or their relationship with the Nomads. What we do know, however, is that they are highly aggressive.
Until we can determine the nature of the situation in and around Kepler, I strongly advise Libertonian units not to enter the system or, if this cannot be prevented, not to stray from the safe-zones around the jump gates, trade lanes, and Ames Research Station. If at all possible, civilian traffic, too, should be rerouted around the system.
Should the situation deteriorate, Section 8 will reach out for aid.
I appreciate the full debrief on the system of Kepler that you gave me, Hawkins, even if some of the data you provided me with was already known. What I would say is the most interesting part of your report are the Sentinels. I believe we came across them during our short adventure on Kepler, the one I debriefed about in my last transmission.
I am afraid I cannot control what the rest of the Libertonian armed forces do in regards to Kepler, nor can I influence the rest of the Fifth Fleet. As far as the Akhetaten is concerned however, we will not be pulling out of the Kepler system. I am sure you understand the importance of us being present in the system as often as we possibly can in order to gather more intelligence on the newly discovered Nomad species that you refer to as Sentinels. Luckily for both our operations in the system, the Libertonian armed forces barely ever deploy forces there anyway. I highly doubt you've observed much Navy presence in the system aside from the Akhetaten.
As for the likes of Revenant, I cannot promise you anything, Captain. The "individual" has been a thorn on our side multiple times and has proven time and time again that she is not willing to fix this. We will not go out of our way to engage her - as we've always been doing - but that does not mean we will not open fire at her if we're provoked.
I believe the combined efforts of Section Eight and the Akhetaten will help in identifying the agenda of the Sentinels sooner rather than later. As for civilian traffic, naturally, it will be noted to them not to enter the system of Kepler until further notice.
Despite best efforts, traffic through Kepler continues unabated. Disconcertingly, more and more of this traffic appears to be related in some manner or another to the situation around the anomalies and Sentinels. Section 8 and the Order Overwatch have come to the agreement that the best course of action would be to blockade the system on both sides, Colorado and Shikoku, to restrict access to the Kepler system.
It would be in all parties' best interest - particularly Liberty's - to avoid an unnecessary escalation of the Kepler situation due to unwanted activity. We will rely on the Liberty Navy's Fifth Fleet for this undertaking. We understand, of course, that it may very well not be possible for the Fifth Fleet to perform such a blockade on its own authority and that other Libertonian forces and the Libertonian government itself may need to be informed. You may brief them to whatever degree is necessary to be granted permission to restrict all traffic from entering Kepler through the Colorado jump gate.
Further, Section 8's cooperation with Auxesia's A/)-Revenant has come to an end. Fifth Fleet units may resume treating them as a hostile agent - and we advise they do so with extreme prejudice. A warning, however: Reports indicate that a Fifth Fleet officer, Dayvon Bennet, may have personal ties to Revenant.
I hope the Fifth Fleet will be able to assist us in the above matters.
It has been brought to our attention that the Fifth Fleet is in possession of at least two ships of Order design - 042D Bastet heavy fighters - flying the callsigns Hellcat-3 and -4. I would like to inquire as to how these ships came into your unit's service and whether or not the Fifth Fleet is operating any other ships of Order origin.
The matter you are trying to discuss is beyond my field of knowledge within the Fifth Fleet. Any vessels of Order origin belonging to the Fleet are a matter of the Research & Development division and are, naturally, kept secret from the rest of the Fleet's personnel.
I could forward your concerns regarding the vessels to High Command, however if you wish for a faster response I would suggest your direct contact with the Fleet's Command or the division's first-in-command, Rear Admiral Nicole Prower.
Forward my query through your own internal channels, if you would. The purpose of this secure network is to avoid less secure neural net channels. I would rather not resort to using the latter. The matter is not pressing; an immediate response is unnecessary.
All information regarding any of the Fleet's assets is classified to the highest level. I assume you saw that response coming, in which case I wonder what the purpose of your attempt was.
Section 8 is a cell of the Order and is as such interested in finding out how and why the Order's ships have come into the possession of parties that are not the Order. This seems quite obvious to me.
Now, we believe that we have been quite forthcoming in regards to providing the Fifth Fleet with highly valuable information - however little your side has chosen to do with it. Section 8 is therefore disappointed that the Fifth Fleet would fail to return the favor in this relatively simple matter. I am sure that you and your superiors understand that, without a clarification from your side as to the origin of the Order vessels in your fleet's service, we have to assume that they were stolen. This, of course, will not bode well for the future of our two parties' alliance.
I have been instructed to inform you that in light of these circumstances and the overall lack of reciprocation from your side, my superiors will be reconsidering the cooperation between Section 8 and the Fifth Fleet. If the Fifth Fleet would choose to be more forthcoming in the mean time, I am sure any negative outcomes of these deliberations could be avoided.
It certainly has been a while. A while since the last time I saw a Section Eight ship and a while since I last spoke with you. I hope you've been holding up well and that Section Eight has had great successes since the last time we were in touch.
Considering this channel is still open, I will assume that your superiors decided not to escalate the situation between you and the Fifth and that our cooperation and intelligence sharing continues the same way. In light of that, I have a report that you should see.
