I agree with the admins. There should be no confusion and no exceptions, there should be a list that is the same for everyone across the board for ID's ships and equipment.
No one should be grandfathered in, although they should be allowed time to update their equipment and their RP.
Sorry to add to this but. All my ships are forum based. So I dont see why I should continue to play on disco if the forums arent linked to in-game play. Thats like saying OH the server rules in the forums no longer apply.
As someone who wrote a story hoping to be allowed to act it out in game, I am very disappointed something as simple as a lawful ship used as an unlawful cannot be done according to this notice. Yes there are some extraordinary (see: out of the norm) RPs and some may not make sense. However a case by case basis policy should be instated. Maybe a separate forum (like sanction threads) that only the interested parties and administrators can discuss the validity of any RP in open forum. Let everyone see the discussion so that we can be assured that the decisions are made by all instead of just one or two admins.
Honestly when Xoria denied JENEFR my first thought was that it was his decision alone based off a bias against cap ships. I am sure that's not really the case however that was how I felt at the time. Here I spent all this time on what I thought (and quite a few members of the community) was a solid RP that made sense, only to have it shot down without much of a thought. You can see how I might have felt. Please we need to see some changes that would avoid creating malice and hurt feelings in the future.
Heh, turning us all into mindless robots, aye admin team?
Seriously though, what's the use of having stories if they have to all be restricted to flying the same ships? I personally think that stories make this game fun...
Major Fujiwara was a Kusari Naval Forces elite. His record unblemished in combat and his name feared among the Blood Dragons and Crysanthemums alike. One day he recieved a call from his mother in Liberty, she wasn't doing too well. Jumping in his Chimaera he tore off into the night.
Weeks passed and his Libertonian mother did as well. The will to return home was lost. Drowning his sorrows in the bar, a shady looking man gave him an offer. "Fight for something different. We'll give you a place to stay and all the cardimine you want. Join the Liberty Rogues." The former Major accepted that offer, and has been a marauder of Liberty ever since...
Okay, that wasn't very good. I just made it up as I went and I'm not Zapp (:P), but you see what I mean.
Stories make these kind of things refreshing and interesting. If everyone flew the same ships, I think a lot of us would lose interest.
Just my two cents. Probably doesn't matter to you admins, but hey.

Of course, then we'll need a whole new "setup explanations" subforum for explaining why our current setup is legal but matches our RP far less than our old setup.

I await your sanction of the Fantasia almost as eagerly as I await the backlash from that sanction.
No rant from me, I'll leave that to more eloquent and awake speakers.

It's easy to match RP to the ship you are allowed to fly. No setup needed for it, it's as simple as "With no parts available for my old ubermunch mark IV, and the flux capacitor polarity inverted from the polaron blast in the last dogfight, I traded it with my new buddies who have wanted to get their hands on a working one to dissect for years. To show their appreciation they gave me a shiny new gewahrt mark XII.
And you go from there, concentrating more on the character than on the equipment.
