The current idea of "If there's RP justification for something, it's ok" is NOT an official position.
In discussions among the Admin team the general consensus is currently: There is no story writing exception to the rule about ID and equipment matching or the rule about acting in the way their reputation and status require.
Special RP should be kept to the forums not brought in game.
Please be aware of the above when playing characters the server.
I'm afraid I can't agree.
That would mean that the Phantoms, whose NPCs are red to everyone, should dock only on the Revenant.
Interesting to note that Unselie's sig gets edited out after a week, you're still prancing around with your title and mine gets edited within 24 hours.
Quote:How about everyone here discusses how to sort out who has exceptional RP?
as i said in my earlier post, those without it weed themselves out or are blown up by those that have it, or those that see through it.
The problem isnt people with original ideas, its people that feel the need to report the original ideas because their own opinions are put before the enjoyment of those around them. The core goal should be to provide an environment where everyone can enjoy their time here. The current RP withstanding policy is going to restrict everyone so player A feels comfortable that player B has to be exactly the way Player A wants them to be. That removes potential for player B, and alot of good fun to be had.
PvP abuse of equipment is covered by PvP sanctions. Roleplay sanctions should stick to roleplay situations. Filing a report due to a pvp encounter where the weapons were not in roleplay, while those weapons were used in a roleplay way to enact the pvp encounter shoudl not be delt with by a roleplay based sanction.
If someone writes a story simply to go gun the crap out of someone with guns from outside the authors faction, it will be transparent and delt with. Trying to prevent this with restrictions for everyone is punishing the innocent, and making alot of the good roleplaying stories wasted time.

This is an interesting point. I mean every week or so at leat 1 player decides to make up some story regarding the mental state of his char or AI. Wether it be about some trigger happy linatic some corrupt AI or something tha justtifies killing everyone in sight.
I suppose that's also with the "capwhores" as long as one abies by the means of RP they can fly anyship they want or do anything they want because it doesn't break rules. But when but when it gets unfun and 50+ are bitching day after day. Should the admins stick by the players rights or the what the masses feel are appropriate.

But it's not, a well respected faction (that lost alot of respect in my eyes) on the server has written an RP to allow then use of ships they should not have and dont need as they have their own alternatives. Not mentioning any names but I reported this and no action has been taken..
RP'ing your way to uberness happens and needs to get smacked.

Exactly.
And quite frankly, I don't think people who have half a right mind that RP into a different ship are hurting anything. If I saw a Xeno flying an Avenger (Who had RP or summut about Liberty ships being stolen etc.) I would say to myself "Oh, that's interesting. I'll have to read that RP.". If everyone wasn't so ready to say "Hey! OoRP ship! Sanction!" we wouldn't have any problems.
As Unit said, the ones who are just RPing into better equipment are easy to spot. It's a hard call, but not that hard.

All due respect guys, this new policy is a mistake. You are over-regulating this thing. No new rule on this, no "committee". Not necessary. The existing situation, though imperfect, is not nearly as bad as the unintended consequences of bringing down this hammer.
Take away too much creative freedom, and people won't play here. That simple.

' Wrote:One example of this would be Deiter getting a Chimaera for QCO... he started a normal character joining KNF, after some time he defected in the middle of a battle.. and wrote a story about it.
Actually that character was a neutral tag, trader ID spy. He stole the Chimaera during a QCRF vs KNF Battle, which provided him cover to get to Bretonia. The character really only existed for that purpose and that event. He also scanned all the KNF loadouts while under cover, during the preceeding week.
But Mjolnir, my good man, your basic point stands. Had this new rule existed then, that very nifty ship/character would have been hammered down for being OORP. And I'd have been pissed off enough to leave.
