It forces players with a unique story to powertrade so that they can do it. Some folk don't have time to powertrade every time they come up with an idea. I hate trading myself, especially powertrading.
Generally speaking, many powertraders don't roleplay as well as others. They will be gaining from this, not the roleplayers.
Further to the point about fixing things, I am about to post some recommendations that I feel will help addres this, and a few other things to boot.
My ideas include but are not limited to:
Removing the 7-day automatic approval, so that we have more time to discuss a request, the requests are happening at a fast rate and we cannot be expected to discuss two pages worth in seven days.
Removing the line about Terrorist IDs, there is a damn fine reason why this process is not transparent, getting a Terrorist ID is not about checking boxes, it's about a number of factors which we do not wish to discuss. A good Terrorist ID application will stand on its on merits. And a good one gets approved, no matter who it's from.
Ensuring that we post all reasons. For any decison we as a team make.
However sanctions will never be a transparent process. Sanctions are done as they are to prevent a number of issues. But they will be, as ever, an appeal process. I would like to suggest that system become more formalised. Screenshots will be required.
If these recommendations are taken on board I think we may reach a consensus with the community.
This will take time, so give us some space.

Akumabito, you seem to live in some odd dimension where time doesn't exist. We've just started trying to figure out -how- to fix it, and have already said one way we'll try. Yet you demand proof, and we've only made such points tonight! What, does time not exist where you are?
For the love of whatever god you worship, GIVE US SOME TIME TO IMPLEMENT BEFORE YOU SAY WE AREN'T DOING ANYTHING.
This is the real true story of rock and roll; it was not about anything more then, how to live your life, as a gangster, in sartorial splendor, and turning the world into a place where normality would never return again...- Malcolm McLaren
I don't mean to say anything about the admins, but, again, I think the chaos that is this thread and its brethren shows what happens when things aren't clear and people start assuming (which will always happen).
Therefore, clarity = good, as well. At least if it's related to denying. Then one can take the suggestions and fix the points of contention.
I do agree about abolishing the 7 day thing, or at least extending it to 21 days.
Because we are all busy with our lives, we can't always be there and read, half of the topics are incredibly long and quite frankly. I don't think everyone will take 2 hours to read all the stuff in there each week.
If the process is too fast, people don't have the time to discuss it and when they encounter the char in game, they get issues with the said RP. Ain't nobody's fault if they didn't have the time to read all the RP stories.
On an other note, asking to get an RP story approved should be an investment, both in time and money. Just look at the faction request forums, You get less YANF than before the money rule was instated. And paying 500mil splitted in a clan isn't that much and gets really to a similar level as what I'm proposing here with character approval.

I agree, that process rewards mediocrity from uninvolved players, since those posts draw no replies.

But what about when the reasons are along the lines of "I don't like it", *lock*?
' Wrote:But they will be, as ever, an appeal process.
Will it be formalized? Right now there is no appeal process, and even if you can get an appeal, such as the one you gave me, it is basically a painting over rather than an appeal and specific points are ignored and contradictory statements made without explanation or logic.
All too often the appeal process is a locked thread and unanswered PM's.

A consensus of the community too often simply means that faction leaders and admins do what is best for them, and calls it a consensus. Why not instead simply aim to be fair, and to actually listen to people when they try to communicate a point, and respond to that specific point.
That would go a long way right now, right?

You've had a lot of time up to now. What has changed from yesterday?
