Launched from Planet Leeds today to find a Phantom fleet composed of Dreadnaught, Rheinland Bomber and Raven Claw orbiting the planet.
Repulse engaged cruise and requested assistance from BSG ships operating nearby. Shadowhawk was able to offer immediate assistance and Repulse engaged the Phantom Dreadnaught Darkstar.
A major firefight ensued and Repulse was forced to disengage by moderate damage to the hull. Repulse headed to the Cambridge jumphole pursued by Phantom Obliterator, to await BSG support.
Once the BSG Gunstars and fighters arrived, Repulse returned to the fray. Unfortunately Shadowhawk was badly hit and forced out of the fight temporarily.
The SF and BSG combined force was able to knock out Darkstar and at least one of the smaller Phantom ships.
The Phantoms withdrew and Repulse continued in fleet action against the encroaching Kusari ships. Repulse pressed forward to Tau 29, capturing a large number of officers(almost 150 in the last two days) and material in the process.
While returning captured men and material to Leeds planet, Repulse encountered two smaller Phantom ships. A Phantom Dreadnaught was also waiting at Stokes mining station.
Anxious to return the captured Kusari to Planet Leeds, Repulse pressed ahead and again requested backup from BSG ships. Repulse was able to dock at Planet Leeds to offload Kusari POWs and await BSG support.
When the Phantoms were again engaged, they soon withdrew after a short but violent fight.

A character by the name of Serus was found carrying nomads. I briefly explained to him the licensing and illegalities of this, and offered the two million credits to become licensed. The money will be forwarded to you, Admiral ASAP. This will be along with the other 5 million credits from a previous licensing.

Regards on shield running, I've seen several bombers doing this of late whether they mean to or not against capships on the one side. And from the sounds of things, SF members have followed suit on the other. To clarify things on both sides, ANY ship entering cruise, escaping a fight, and then coming back...that's shield running and I do believe there are rules that state not to do this. In addition, the tactic of a capship entering cruise, using engine kill to maintain say 150m/s and maintaining fire on an attacking vessel is also prohibited I believe, although it used to be one of the few tactics that forced bombers and fighters to fly straight into a capship's line of fire. But rules are rules. If someone could post a linky or quote for where the exact rule can be found that would be great since I don't have the time.
As a brief announcement, I'll be away on a conference trip to San Jose next week and as such will either be out of touch or far too busy to deal with even the day-to-day forum affairs. If I could have command level members such as Hype and Ant deal with affairs during my absence that would be appreciated. I'm going to leave the necessary decision making in the hands of the highest member still active, which at the moment is Hype...although I did see Badger poking his head around the forum;)...if Badger becomes active again while I'm gone he can make the decisions (once brought up to speed of course), otherwise Hype will.
OOC: Here you go Fire, hope you don't mind me posting here..
' Wrote:1.8 Using cruise and quick engine kill to boost speed in PvP fights is not allowed.
There is no actually rule on shield running. But it is looked down upon by just about everyone. Also, even if it were not, the sheer amount of times the SF use it is ridiculous. Its basically the same as old F1. You get your shield and energy back, while the others can't shoot you. Thats why it is unacceptable in my factions. If you cruise, your retreating.

Sirs,
We are aware of your status in Cambridge, but we are currently being terrorized by mercenaries right at Bretonia's doorsteps.
The South Alliance needs to know right now. Can the SF help us against the HF or will they linger aside as good men die protecting their country?
As the captain of the Sierra can attest, Liberty has always welcomed Bretonians with open arms.
We hope that you are not fair-weather friends who have deserted us in our times of need.
Yours,
Gurney

I'm going to put together another battlegroup to operate in the Manchester area. Their mandate will be to defend Manchester and assist neutral and above craft against hostile attack in the corridor between Bretonia and Liberty. With that we'll have the following battlegroups:
Squadron - Defensive Location - Mandate
Stormpike - Defends Leeds/Edinburgh/Dublin - Attack/Defend against Kusari
Excaliber - Defends Cambridge/Omegas - Protection of Traders, Attack Nomads
Liberty Guard - Defends New London/Leeds/Manchester - Protection
Bretonian Guard - Defends Cambridge/New London - Protection
Bretonian Knights - Roaming - Friendly Aid (Craft Restriction: Gunboat and down)
OOC Note: Did name change on Cambridge Defense to Bretonian Guard...think it sounds cooler:cool:
Comments welcomed? Other names for Liberty Guard also welcomed following the current theme. Think some medieval weapon.
