2.: Any ideas for the Technology nerfs for ships and weapons when you get your own ID?
3.: What is your ZOI exactly? I ask becuase i don`t like the Idea of an official "pirate" Faction with almost unlimited ZOI.
Other than that, nice Story, nice Wiki page. Don`t know why but never met you in Game. But i`ve heard that you are lurking in Kusari lately. See you there maybe.
I dont know if you have a feedback thread but I felt like adressing this

I had an empty cargo train. And yes I realize my RP wasn't great but meh, my train was empty, he basically brought up the 5 mill or die immediatly and that really brought my RP mood to zero due to the fact that when I brought up the I have no cargo bit he said I do not care. Obviously I didn't have any wriggle room.
Im not going to demand any sort of justice but this just seems like that guy wanted to shoot something rather then roleplay something out.
Also I do not know what your ZOI is, I would assume Outcast empire and nomad worlds and bretonia. But for the rest you say you try to avoid Kusari / Rheinland / Gallia but avoiding isnt the same as not operating their so your ZOI seems to be the entirety of sirius.

happend alot... i think that u guys should do something about it.. even a noob pirate know it... ( just sayn' .. )
Though, there are many things that bother me here. I asked myself "What's wrong in that?" and then looked at your post. I couldn't see what's quite wrong in that situation. Why?
1. Samarran Raiders are Raiders for a reason.
2. Samura is a rich company, and most likely with tens of millions on their transports. Although 5 millions is high for my own standards, it's everyone's own right to decide the amount of credits a caught person should pay. Best that can be changed about that is amount lowered.
3. Roleplay is not about messages you say, it's about how well one plays his role. In that case, I could not notice any flaws in our guy's play. While on your end (considering you mentioned lack thereof) I expected a bit different character's reaction: "Wait wait wait, I want to live! Let's talk" or "Hold on, I'll contact my employers!" (and then maybe wait for backup); a transport you were in is worth much more than 5 millions. That "Don't care" which you heard from the guy did not bring your RP to zero, for you were still allowed to type even after he had engaged. Chiefly, I've never seen pirates let their prey go in case they got nothing as exchange for life. Pirates are armed for a purpose, and this case is not exempt.
4. Our ZoI is undergoing changes. Today I think it's like this: Taus, Omicrons (partly) and Kusari. Bretonia is outside of our interest zone, we won't be seen there.
You're welcome to reply and point out where I'm wrong, and other constructive criticism is welcome.
I will tell our fresh recruits to speak more if it'll change anything.

1. I get that
2. Icly our transports are insured, the transport itself however was empty, devoid of everything except for nano bots and shield bats. I have had several people tell me that I should have reported (I mean sanction) that person that pirated me for asking for 5 million since I was empty but to be honest it wasnt such a big deal for me, I was transiting to a station to log out of.
3. honestly it is about both really. if your a pirate then your message is to say I am just doing this for a living, if you are a faction at war with kusari then your message would be that you are following orders. I have had a dragon say that his cause is the return of the shogunate and that hes collecting for the shogun and that I should pay up for that reason so that it may postpone my life. And its true pirates do not let their prey go just because they are empty but they do ask for token amounts if you happen to be empty.
But for all he knows I am just a captain that earns 50.000 / 100.000 credits a year and just follows orders from samura high command when it comes to shipping things instead of a millionaire.
4. then you might want to change that then as you cant have an ever changing ZOI thats not how IDs work. If you want the whole of sirius as your ZOI when you please it then you should delete this thread and stay as a group just using the Pirate ID
Quote:2. Icly our transports are insured, the transport itself however was empty, devoid of everything except for nano bots and shield bats.
Now, in RP, Raiders do not know are your vessels insured or not. What they see is really fancy and big transports, which cost a lot of money. Neither they really care.
Besides, those 50.000 / 100.000 credits a year that you work for is merely an in-RP characteristic. You can't blame us for something that doesn't get along with game mechanics.
Now:
Quote:I have had several people tell me that I should have reported (I mean sanction) that person that pirated me for asking for 5 million
I've seen sanctions for 60 million pirating. Yes, that's pretty bizarre terrorism. But 5 millions is 12 times less. See the difference? (don't forget that you're Samura - a rich company). In any case, you're free to drop us links providing sanctions for pirating 5 million, and where the pirate got punished.

We're known as a group of organized pirates and people who serve Nomads (not important in this case).
We do have our RP story, our RP goals and RP reasons to search for traders and tax them or demand cargo on our way. Tax price of 5 millions is pretty reasonable. Besides, why do you even mention absence of cargo? Have you cargo or not, you have to have some money on your account.
Quote:if your a pirate then your message is to say I am just doing this for a living
Now, it doesn't needs to be like that. If it was, our RP would not be important and here's why: Raiders seek for riches, Samura pretty sure has lots of money. Hence 5 millions, really!
Quote:4. then you might want to change that then as you cant have an ever changing ZOI thats not how IDs work. If you want the whole of sirius as your ZOI when you please it then you should delete this thread and stay as a group just using the Pirate ID
Chapey... our ZOI clearly says Tau, Omicron and Kusari sectors.
Why we can change it because, we still use generic ID known as Pirate ID. ZOI of Pirate ID is everywhere, what determines it's ZOI depends on individual/group's RP.
As we are still using Pirate ID and, we are not official yet, we are still considering what ZOI would be best for us. Note that we do have on our mind how much it can be expanded, and will keep it moderate as any faction's ID is.
Note that it was like this, when we created it:
Quote:Zone of Influence:
The Raiders often perform their Raids through Bretonia and the Tau Worlds, getting into frequent skirmishes with the local factions, both lawful and unlawful. The Raiders are sometimes in Liberty and the surrounding Independent Worlds, but only in cases when transporting the goods they deem important, often wreaking havoc on the local supply lines in the process. In even rarer cases, the Raiders can be seen in the Omicron worlds, where they feel closer to their Gods. The Raiders generally avoid Kusari, Rheinland and Gallia, for unknown reasons.
Our ID is not an ultimate PVP license, however in such situations Samura has no other choice than to run for life.
Also what does matter is:
Quote:Goals:
The Raiders seem to eagerly hoard goods, credits and manpower, although their ultimate remains obscure, as the remaining original Samarrans are very secretive about it. However rumors persist about a hostile takeover of their home Planet, once they find a way to return there.

Actually I can, icly you do not know how much I have, oocly you still don't know. Trying to figure out how much money my character has through illicit means is metagaming. Since this is a roleplaying game you have to play your own role and accept what the other roleplayer is saying as fact (even though he could be lieing) Game mechanics have no say if someone asks me for 5 mill on an empty hold.

I dont have that kind knowledge since sanctions are private, you only get evidence if you are the accused or the person involved. That said an admin (name escapes me) said that in the thread when they introduced the rule change (capital ships pirating players) that there is a limit people can ask. and that it was 33% of what the cargo can bring in profit. Now I personally didn't even think of that when I got pirated, infact I was told half a day after the fact (not by some newbie either, but by someone who leads a faction and is 2ic in another, and maybe holding higher positions in others but I digress)

Samura does, but I am not the one who collects the checks, I play the role of a transporter captain, maybe you should start robbing corporate if you want the millions.

where exactly is your limit. Avoiding isnt the same as not operating, and for a new faction a smaller ZOI is generally better
I think you should look at your allies (nomads, outcasts) and where you base yourself from to dictate your ZOI (think logistics, where can you portray your power

actually if you take a look at the other faction creation threads people judge both the interactions but also the info in the creation threads.
judging from this thread a lot of people bring up the ZOI / Base of operations and it still hasn't been adressed, the info you claimed a few posts ago is contradicted by the info in the main post. You should probably change that info.
As for that last bit I have no idea what he is talking about. This encounter was the first interaction I had with the SR. I did however a week or two ago run from a K'hara Nomad cruiser and after the fact I was told the SR was working with that Cruiser (I didn't actually see any SR with that cruiser but I was told that they worked with the Cruiser) if that is the issue then that is not my problem, I think its very sensible for any person to run from a (nomad) ship that is alien in nature.
if its anything else then I do not know. And aside from using the Sigma 13 > NB jump hole I dont tend to avoid lanes (and I only use the NB jump hole so I dont get blasted to bits by the GMG Station and ships in S-13)
edit: If you cant handle the restrictions of a new ID then you should not become an official faction, because you just might get negative side effects from having an ID
Feedback doesn't have to shed you in a good light to be considered "Good Feedback." I believe Trails here brought up some "Good" feedback, he thought the minimal RP standard for a pirate should be a little more than what your friendly neighborhood pirate did to him, and I am one to agree. ***ESPECIALLY!*** Someone that wants to GET THEIR OWN FREAKING ID (Which will never happen if you keep up the bare minimum of roleplay in a pirating encounter such as this, Admins take everything into consideration.. just look at how much activity RR had and their request was still denied.) Unless there was a pressing matter, such as KNF or KSP on approach or on the scene, you can give him more than 1 minute of your time and still give a better chunk of roleplay than "5 mill or die". Also the transport got away one time so you "wanted to get revenge" seems like a personal crusade to me, perhaps one that the only way to satiate your rage was to get a blue message? 5 million is probably not unreasonable, but 5 million for an empty transport? Gimme a break.
to add, there is a difference between feedback and telling a faction you hate them or that they suck. Im trying to give you constructive feedback in area's that you seem to be struggling with (well from my perspective), im not raging, im not spouting hate words im trying to help you become official.
I saw you counter (or someone from your faction) counter the ZOI / Base of Operations thing by criticizing other factions with a really large ZOI but instead of trying to shift the point away from your own ZOI maybe you should look at yourself and adress the issue, see if there is some truth in it or not instead of being on the defensive.
After saying that I would like to re-iterate is that I do not hate your faction, I do not have a grudge against any of your members, im not upset, im trying to give feedback on an interaction and based on that interaction I decided to give the rest of your faction some words of insight. In less then 2 months you have changed your ZOI think about that. Is that something that will keep changing as time progresses based on RP interactions or is that going to stay static? if it stays static I believe you can have an ID based off that, if not then maybe stick with your current Pirate ID
This is all I have to add, I / we can keep argueing and going in full circle but I have nothing to add anymore. Ill read any response you have to it but I most likely wont reply to it.
Quote:That said an admin (name escapes me) said that in the thread when they introduced the rule change (capital ships pirating players) that there is a limit people can ask. and that it was 33% of what the cargo can bring in profit.
I just want to highlight the fact, that there is no rule, nor rule change regarding piracy demand limit, and the mention of 33% of commodity values was just said in Skype, which makes it only chat line by person, who has admin role here in Discovery.
