The question is, are the TAZ and OSI "ALL" the zoners. Or a group within a zoner world. In other words, if Zoners are a mass of individuals and groups settled on the outskirts of sirius, do the TAZ and OSI even have the requirements to judge the development of the WHOLE npc group.
And while the Zoner RP is loose and formed by the players, imho any faction, official or not, partakes in the evolution of RP.
NO...
The TAZ and OSI can only sanction/FR people that is within their factions juristiction... Since TAZ only has Baffin + 2-3 bases under "TAZ" command/protection (as far as i know), they can only FR5 for people violating those places...
In the past, the ZA (Zoner Alliance) was the "Zoner official faction", it consisted of OSI, Omicroners and TAZ... To FR5, apparently all 3 factions needed to agree as more often then not, their FR5 would screw over the RP of one of the others....

They can FR5 anyone, anywhere get your facts straight. They both (OSI and TAZ) are official zoner factions and can fill FR5 against a violation that happened anywhere. Don't mislead people.
Everyone keeps talking about faction rights.
But what of the responsibilities.
Bring forth new roleplay, instead of limiting it.

Quote:4.7 Official player factions have authority over players of the same NPC affiliation, as long as RP justification is provided. This authority applies in forums and in-game, and applies to player faction diplomacy, and strategic and tactical direction. However, exercise of that authority, on the forums and in game, is restricted to official faction members with the rank of the official faction leader and one rank below him/her. The authority may be exercised through the use of in-game in-RP orders, which, if not obeyed, can result in in-game in-RP consequences (arrest, court martial, and even "lethal" force in extreme circumstances). Official player factions cannot, under any cicrumstances, require another player to follow non-canon RP if that player doesn't want to.
Now this depends on whether the interaction outlined above falls into the realm of canon or non-canon RP. On one hand, you can claim its non-canon, since there's nothing written about it. But using that same argument, you can say that it's neither here nor there, as you can't possibly write everything that there is to write about a faction, especially about new game features, or even the fact that the whole jump drive feature implementation is non-canon.
In the end, if they see you doing something they dont like, they'll FR5 you (or in this case, your customers) for it. I fully expect folks to FR5 dreadnoughts jumping into their space with a full raft of transports, and not only Zoners too.
Well said, Nc, and I feel the same. I see how the jumpdrives can offer a LOT of potential in making money......but ONLY if you work hard enough to get the RP behind it, interact with the involved factions and build ties, which would progress the......
Owait...
Nevermind, said factions were suddenly FR5ed because of someone's ego trip...
In a more un-flamatory response....
Factions need to promote roleplay. They must work with their independent groups, encouraging their own unique roleplay. If official factions would only approve of their style of RP, then all of the unofficial groups would turn into clones.

Thats the problem though, for almost every trading faction out there it's months of RP backstory to even have a chance at something any zoner indie can throw together in five minutes. Why trade the old fashioned way when you can make zoner alts and get ten times the credits for a fraction of the work of powertrading? The way the zoner ID and shipline are setup now is practically begging for abuse. I know I've fallen prey to its charms before.
Wait now, hold on. Do not think that, for example, JZ were created in a day. We have our RP, we made our ties. We take our risks.
The jumps we use now could not be used unless we would not have put effort behind getting access to them in the first place.
Apart from the Delta-Languedoc jump...which is probably the one you are referring to.
Anyway, point stands.

Sorry, should have been more clear, didn't mean you specifically. I have no idea what the JZ's story is or what you've been up to, but its certainly better then nothing. My point is there should be some restrictions to prevent people from giving into temptation and abusing something that can be exploited to the extent jump trading can without breaking any rules.
It's a combination of right by the one applying and deserve on the part of some action performed by the one(s) being served the FR5. The FR5 isn't an actual rule sanction it is the result of an RP consequence involvinig canon lore being broken and Factions being able to enforce canon lore. We are the one's with the tools to implement this RP consequence in games via the remote desk. Jump Drives are entirely new and there is absolutely no canon lore on this created, unfortunately, and there really isn't anything beyond faction diplomacy and whom a faction will interact with that covers jump assistance and any RP consequences that comes from it. Maybe consider whether you buy and sell from a NPC base as a basis of whom you interact with and chances are you can get a good idea whom you may be willing to jump....for a price. That said, jump trading is extremely unbalanced, I'm of the strong opinion that these drives get properly balanced with a price:distance ratio or a limit to distance requiring several jumps and a cost for each. Although I don't want to make them go away or become useless either because I think these jumps drives are pretty neat. Just unbalanced. I can easily face the Q-Q that would come from nerfing that feature.
