Captain Hiltraud Kaiser Promoted to Admiral, Battleship Westphalia Now Under Construction.
This is Jim Hill with the Galactic News Network. Today on Planet New Berlin, the acting Chancellor of
Rheinland, Admiral Niklaus Reinhardt, aptly named, has now officially been chosen as Chancellor of
Rheinland. He has stated that there will be no significant changes from before our beloved Kristy Pryde was
kidnapped. Her disappearance is still under investigation.
Due to his new position, he has promoted Captain Hiltraud Kaiser to Admiral, a bold move as she is the first
female Admiral in Rheinland since the Exodus. There are a lot of different opinions on this subject, most
seem to be positive, though.
Captain Freelamen of the Cruiser Vineta had this to say, "Admiral Hiltraud, one of the Fatherland's best
pilots, commanders, and leaders. She is the only one I would like see to take such a position. It will be an
honor to fly under her command."
The Commander of the Orvidos had a similar idea, "It's an honor to serve under such an admirable and
cunning leader. I'm sure the new admiral will lead us to prosperous victory and glorious destruction of our
enemies."
Though, some people remain a bit skeptical despite her immaculate record and service to the Rheinland
Military. Sam Asher of the IND, for example, "Hahahah!! A woman admiral?!? You've got to be joking!!...
There better be a kitchen on that battleship!" He burst out laughing shortly after and for several hours more.
Admiral Kaiser might not be happy about him, there have been some reports about previous meetings
between these two not going so well. Don't worry, we'll be there to cover anything that might happen!
The new Admiral's Battleship is now under construction. She has chosen to name it the Westphalia, and it
shall be Christened at an undetermined time and date. We hope to be there, too, but it seems the
government may be keeping the ceremony private.
We've also received a message from an unknown source, and it seems to relate to Sam Asher from earlier:

Press release to all media, for immediate dissemination.
About damn time!!
With the rapidly increasing number of talented, intelligent, and capable females in this sector, it is refreshing to see change on the bastions of the Inner Houses. They have become atrophied due to their shortsightedness.
The only exception until now has been Ambassador deLuna of House Kusari. She has faced a constant struggle to gain acceptance in the diplomatic circles of Sirius; but has succeeded against strong resistance.
Discordians have long honored the Feminine Principal, and we of the Temporary Autonomous Zoners are delighted to see that the new Chancellor has shown some glimmer of understanding as well.
Our sincere congratulations to Admiral Kaiser. We will be following her career with great interest and encouragement.

Tracey Lacy walks in to the crowd of news reports on Planet New Berlin looking like a... Well... Like herself...
Humph! A promotion? That old girl... Not something that interests me... As the acts of Rheinland bore me to no end. I prefer being back at the BHG bar... Though, I can't say those kinda words on Television...
She flips her hair and walks over to Hiltraud
So, Rheinland has their new "Female" Admiral huh... Well, might as well make a report out of this.
"Admiral" Hiltraud, do you have any comments from the press on your promotion that may... "Interest" us?
(Couldn't resist:P)
(Anyway, for all who don't know. Tracey Lacy is a BHG... well it ends with "star".. taking time off to work for the Sirus News Service... Yes its stupid, but funny:D)
Axel Topf walks into the Chancellors throne room, escorted by his Second in Command and weapons officer. Chancellors Rheinhart is sitting upon the Golden Throne of Rheinland, the symbol of Light throughout the Sirius sector.
Axel Kneels on one leg and bows down. "It has been an honour to serve under you while you were an Admiral, but now the glory has been incresed beyond mesure. The Chancellor shall become immortal and lead Rheinland on a path of Victory!
I also offer my condolences to the new Admiral. She was a commendable captain and now she shall serve Rheinland under a new face and it shall be beneficial too all.
Fur Den Kanzler!
The Honour Guard escort The Commander out
ooc: Yes! The Chancellor does get to sit upon a Golden Throne! I bet Virus has allways wanted to do that!
The official word from ]IND]'s Jay simon was one of congratulation. Though Jay was a little reserved concerning
the recent spate of rather over jealous policing of his traders.
'I hope this well deserved promotion will bring about a new era of Rheinland's control over the increased pirate
activity in and around that sector of Sirius. Good officers are hard to come by', was the usable soundbite.
'Though the harrassment of law abiding traders has been a problem too'.
More comments with regard to the well polished jackboots and leather uniform were thought a little tasteless,
and the commentary in respect of 'Rear Admirals' was deemed unfit for human consumtion.

B: Look!
S: Up in the North!
B: It's a bird!
S: No! It's a spacecraft!
B: It's a blood!
S: No! It's a dragon!
B: Ho! It's a Blood Dragon!
S: It's a pirate!
B: No, it's a terrorist!
S: No, its a resistance fighter!
B: Sigh... no, it's really a cheap blackmailer.

"That's right, folks! Up north of Kusari, the Blood Dragon Resistance, folksily known as the [BDR], have given up bullying in Battleships, and have resorted to cheap publicity stunts to make a "name" for themselves and their cause. They claim to have several KNF Admirals in custody, and are pestering the KNF with demands."
"Indeed, Brendan! I spoke with Ambassador deLuna just moments ago, and she gave me an odd look over the Holo-link. These BDR tossers apparently haven't even put together an intelligible list of demands to present yet. It smacks of something those shills and charlatans Omni Industries might have dreamed up and promoted for some outrageous commission!"
"Thank you for the unsolicited opinion, Suzette, but what did the Ambassador say the KNF's response would be to this little shakedown?"
"Oh. Well, Brendan, she had just gotten out of the shower, and was doing that stunningly beautiful hair of hers. She hadn't really given it much thought; and seemed exasperated that I would even bother her about it. She promised to look into it, and give me an exclusive when High Command is ready with a response."
"Very informative as usual, Suzette. I've heard several options rumored, so I'll add my equally juicy bits. There may possibly be an exchange of prisoners with the BDR. Apparently the KNF can't wait to rid itself of several hundred Blood Dragon and G.C. interees they've collected aboard their prison ship. The KNF may refuse negotiations and demands with the blackmailers completely. Another option popular with Captain Nebotuda of the KNF would be to turn Kyoto into slag, and simply replace those old doddering Admirals with some of the promising new blood which seems to be swarming to the KNF ranks in droves!"
"Wow, Brendan! Your sources are way better than mine! I do have one little "off the record" tidbit to add. According to an Ensign in the KNF I won't name, (although his initials are 'H.A.'), some supposed AW vessel tagged the Bluto or something, contacted him about a possible double-cross by BDR if the exchange option is decided on. So, from battleship bozos to blackmailers to backstabbers before you can say 'Hamburger on Tuesday'!".
"Well, Suzette, to continue your interesting but unrelated metaphor, if that had any bit of truth to it, then the KNF would be well within its rights to say 'I cant stands no more!'"
"And that folks, concludes our gossip for tonight. Join us again next time, when I'll share a secret I learned today about Ambassador deLuna's favorite nail color! Until then, I'm Suzette..."
"...and I'm Brendan the Anchor Man!. Join us next time for.."
