The next thing I plan on trying to figure out is the underside mining bay. Currently it is lacking a bit, and sure it will not really be seen too much, I do not know if it should be left this way yet or not...
Sketches of the design are in progress as I type this.
and interesting idea there Incongruous, but I just have trouble picturing it really...you mean like this big scoop kind of thing?
and yes, as far as I know the Shire has two engines in the front and one in back
EDIT:
A quick sketch for a possible ore bay like on the hegemon ship, along with a bigger grapple arm, more along the lines of the repair ship's arm, but beefier
Well the problem is, I like to keep my models around 3k, this one is already breaking 3.5k Making complex arms can easily add a ton of pollies to this ship. I'll give it a try and see what happens, but I don't want to break 3.7k on this model.
Well yeah, like a scoop. There would be a hollow space on the underside that rocks would be pulled into. It'd look ridiculous landing anywhere, but ships that size are supposed to moor anyway. From the front, I'd basically look like this:
Well if the arms are going to be pushing the poly count too high, maybe we should find a way to work around the arms...alternate mining methods I mean, the BMM is one of the more advanced mining groups, so they may be past using clunky arms.
EDIT:
Okay now I see what you mean with the scoop. That makes sense...so the ship would be hollow there and the rocks would go up inside it to the grinders.
I really like this model, if it got in game though I wouldn't be mining with it specifically though. I'd use it as a house ship/business platform/work station. It looks very Bretonian and fits in well. Well done to the both of you.
