' Wrote:a) I believe the problem with pirates "not having enough targets" in house space comes from the diversity and universal availability of the house routes actually. There are so many routes who offer about same money that trader can easily pick to avoid pirates. At the same time the traders are distributed over wide area, so it's hard for pirate to pick a spot where he's likely to catch someone.
Mining places are on the other hand rather concentrated and easy to cover for the pirate.
Smuggling routes have to offer a bit more money because of the added risk, how much that is a question.
That's true, I didn't consider that, even still though, it still begs the question that the lawful routes have risks too of being pirated. Smuggling isn't the only risk, just differs in who wants to steal your cargo. Lawfuls wanna take your "contraband" or pirates wanna take your "money." So, no matter what, you're taking risks in trading.
' Wrote:40 million per hour is what I'd extremely good reward. But then again other people have a different opinion.
40 million per hour is terrible. That's 80 million every two, 120 every three. That's would take me TWENTY HOURS to get up to 800 million to even get a CAU8 for my ONLY cruiser (Nemesis). That's way too much time and I have way more to do than sit and fly a ship the same route over, and over, and over again.
You're doing it wrong, then. Roleplay when trading. Or don't trade. If you get bored while playing ANY role, it is not the fault of the development team or the administrators by default.
I have never bought a personal battleship because "a personal battleship" is something that within roleplay terms sounds retarded.
The diamond-niobium run in 4.84 would get you no more than 43 million credits per hour.
If you want more, you are broken, not the trade system.
Are you guys crazy ? You'r whining because it take way too much time for you to get your battleship with a Cap8 and yet everyone whine there's too much battleship with cap8, now make up your freaking mind guys,
I see things like ''Yeah it would take me 20 hours just to get a cap8! I have better things to do!'' Well I'm sorry but if you have better things to do than you won't get a cap 8, you can trade for mine/trade for 100m in 1h30 minute easily and extend that on a period of a week if you really want your armor.
You guys are just asking to be given everything free and without work, and the economy will be screwed like all freaking idiot games ou there that you have 200 billion and you'r not even rich because the economy is so screwed up.
Seriously, am I the only one with a bit of sanity left here, I'm sorry but if you make it easy to get all that fancy equipment than I won't even play this game anymore, there will be no challenge and it will turn like that Ultima Online Roleplaying server that I used to play, they gave every skills and gold was easy to make so people could ''Focus'' on roleplay, but guess what everyone left after a month because there was'nt anything to do other than sitting their ars around and talking in game.
I think I'm gonna be sick reading all these whining about ''MOM, I CANT BUY A BATTLESHIP IT WOULD TAKE 10 HOUR OF TRADING OH MY GAWWWDDD NEED BUFF'', I'm about to puke all over my keyboard.
I play here more than 2 years. I started twice from nothing, my chars were deleted because of inactivity.
I am bad fighter, so I avoid fights. I like trading, I like flying around, observing, talking with people, even pirates.
Trading is not as boring as people say. Losses doesn't hurt, pirates are easy to avoid, since they are sitting on the same lanes.
I think the economy is not bad. There are many different routes with good profit.
Various limitations - blockades, embargo, faction restrictions, bans from docking etc - make trading more interesting. It needs thinking how, when, what, where. It is a challenge.
Two hours easy trading and you can set up well equipped fighter (30mil), two days trading and you have gunboat, easy week and you are in destroyer. It take some time and patience to earn money for battleship, but it is ok. It would be silly to earn money too fast, this is RP game, and life in Sirius is not easy.
What is month or two if you play Freelancer since hm... six years.
What could I say against current economy:
-It is too hard to start first char from zero. It is hard to get first transport ship, but after you get one, things become easy.
-There are not good trade routes in House lawful space. If you want to earn money you have to go outside, but if you want to be lawful House trader, there is no job.
- Mining is too much restricted and only out of House space.
- I would appreciate some elements of dynamic economy. I know almost every route for my chars, and if routes would change, it would be more fun.

Generally, all is quite well.
I haven't seen you around much and don't know you, so I can't say much to you about the time you have or if you're old enough to have a full time job, so please forgive me if I'm incorrect.
There are many of us here that have full time jobs. Some are military (like me) and don't have time to sit around playing a game for 10-15 hours per day. We have hardly any time to do much of ANYTHING except sit online for two, maybe three hours RPing it up with folks. If we don't have the money to do such a thing, those two to three hours are spent trading, 40 mil and hour for that is around 80 to 120 million per night...and that's BEFORE pirates, server crashes, flying to and from the target, hitting rocks with your transport, ect ect.
It simply takes too long to earn credits, and I've actually been doing missions in my bomber because the turnaround on the money is more than trading or mining.
The best suggestion was made by Friday and is located here. All the other posts are just of bitching and whining. How about we come up with more of a solution than complaining about it and explaining what we don't like about it? Personally, I'm all for the Point of Sale addon. Worked for mining, why not trading too?
As someone with a family, job and RL obligations, my freetime is at a premium. Leonardo makes a fair point - making money is a slow process. As in glacially slow.
On the other hand, if making money is too "easy" (a subjective concept), many people are liable to get bored, cause OOC mischief in-game, or just leave.
Solutions? The dynamic economy implemation would be interesting, but I'm unsure how much stress that'll put on the processor. Nor will it focus on the core problem: stuff is pricey.
Again, the simplest solution in my opinion would be to simply slash prices for vessels, equipment (and possibly munitions) by 30%. If you're really into roleplaying, that reduction in prices shouldn't affect you detrimentally - quite the opposite. You'd still have to spend time trading for the big toys.
@Loyd: Every battleship has cap 8? I don't know what time zone you play in, or where you play in game, but I saw one BS last week. And it lacked cap 8. That said, some capships have it.
If you fly a capship, especially a large one, cap 8 keeps you competetive. Since caps are larger and slower than fighters, they really need an significant armor investment. Whereas a fighter depends on dodging, a small profile and speed, the capship has to depend mostly on hull integrity to survive. Thus the reason some players opt for cap 8.

:DI am old enough to have a full time job, as you can see in my profile...
I also don't have much time. I had long breaks, like last months, when I didn't play even an hour, that is why you didn't see me.
I am not against changes, but from my point of view current economy is not bad. that is all.

No offence, but not trading is the most retarded solution to the problem I have heard so far, and that includes some of Cannon's suggestions when he gets frustrated and proposes a "nuke" suggestion.
Role-playing a role which you do not want to is ridiculous, however, we still expect people to do it. The proposal to buff routes means cutting this time down, whilst still leaving an effort to get capital ships and ridiculously expensive armour.
We are talking OoRP here, obviously, since you do not see this post as a transmission from my Zoner, or smuggler, and so on. A personal battleship means a chance to role-play as a BS. Eh.
Routes currently are not making 43 million credits per hour. They should be.

The routes should make around 40-50 million credits per hour. No more.
I see no problems with that suggestion. It takes it back a mod release when credits could be made easier and pirates charged 3 million, maximum.
