Light from the countless screens flooded the room. Each one of them showing an enormous amount of data collected from a single point inside the room.
A few scientists were bustling about, reading the data, discussing it and ... waiting.
After a while silence settled in.
The bubbling of the liquid inside the large tank in the middle of the room was clearly audible.
Gathering around the tank, the scientists watched in awe as the liquid was slowly sucked out of the tank and what had been only a shiloutte until now was slowly revealed.
Having waited all this time for this moment, the small group was excited to finally see their creation completed.
Countless hours of work and huge sums of money had been put into this and now it was time to see the result.
The head fully emerged out of the liquid, the electronic brain was activated, the system was booted, information started to flow.
And with that..
Every creation has it's flaws. None of them is perfect.
This was no difference.
In their quest to replicate a human to the smallest possible detail, they went too far.
They added something they could not control, something indispensable for anything claiming to be human.
Taken from another human, they managed to replicate the personality and copy it over into the machine they created, only carefully erasing her memories.
The human died of course, but that's not something science would stop for.
And now, as she awoke and the information gathered by the systems working inside her mechanic body flooded her brain with things so very new to her, she panicked.
The leftover instincts told her to struggle, to break free of this cage. And so she did.
She pulled off the visor covering her eyes and then pulled out the various tubes connecting to her body.
Desperately she hit against the glass, her mechanical body having no problem breaking it.
Stepping out of the tank she saw the first one of them. A scientist cowering in fear.
Not capable of any rational thought, emotions controlled her and her mind was filled with rage.
She massacred them. It seemed so unreal to her. The noise. The screams.
As the last one died she sank down in the puddle of blood, staring at the red floor.
Something told her to cry, but she couldn't.
And then, to prevent insanity, her mind shut down and she fell unconscious.
The wind stroked gently over her wings and she could feel the warmth of the sun on her feathers.
Beneath her the lush wilderness raced past, but her eyes could still make out every detail.
The giant trees, the small river flowing south. The bird stretched it's wings and let out a cry of happiness.
Soaring through the air, she felt free. Nothing could touch her.
Rising higher and higher she reached up to the sun. The cold world was well below her.
She continued, leaving the gravity of this world behind her until searing pain paralzyed her wings. The bird tumbled mid-air and after a short struggle, started to fall head down.
Her whole body felt numb now and she panicked. Desperately she tried to move her wings as she approached the ground with terrifying speed.
But there was nothing she could do, it seemed as if it wasn't her body anymore.
As she hit the ground everything went black, she heard the sound of glass shattering and woke up in a world of cold steel and blood.
Gradually, her vision came back. Not that that was a good thing.
Still laying in that same puddle of blood, the scenery in the small lab was hardly something she would like to see.
Slowly, she sat up. Her cybertronic eyes gathered every little detail of the room and for the first time, she really became conscious of her body.
She knew it was hers and she could move it quite well, but it just didn't feel right. Everything seemed strange and unreal to her.
Like a newborn child, she was thrown into a world she didn't understand. But there was nobody to guide her.
As she looked at the dead bodies on the floor she instantly knew she was different. There was no blood flowing inside her.
She was not human. Just a machine. A machine that had turned against it's creators.
Still feeling numb and not really able to fully comprehend what had happened, she made her way to the exit.
The sound of her footsteps echoed in the long metal hallway leading outside.
There was nobody to be seen, the whole facility seemed to be abandonded if it wasn't for that small lab and that group of scientists.
Walking through the dimly lit corridor, she passed countless doors, ignoring each of them.
She knew the corridor was leading outside. Somehow she knew. And that's the only place she wanted to go right now.
Outside. Away from this place. Away from the people she killed.
As she approached the exit her steps got quicker until she was running. The door opened with a silent hiss and she stepped outside.
The rain washed over the landing pad outside, dark clouds were hanging in the sky and thunder rolled in the background.
She slowed down, stopping a short distance from the door and watching the scenery in awe.
