2 mining shf's
3 transports
share the accounts with the people in the chat. when you get online, ask if anyone wants to do some mining, and when 2 say fine, just pick which ships you want to use and go mine. simple as that. alternatively, join a mining faction, they would have this stuf sorted out already.
Does skype work in-game? I have skype with headphone/mic but have only used it once amd never in any game.
So how does it work, conect via skype then enter the game?
Can you have mutiple connections on skype in-game at the same time?
Can you run Freelancer in a window to access skype qhile playing?
You can just use it as a instand message program.
For chatz outside the game to call/talk/type with people to come and play/fly/fight/backup with you.
Although going in to a conversation with mics in a big group is not the best idea. But when you are a small group it's no problem to make calls.
I use it most time to ask people to log on and come help me out of just for other chatz.
When chatting and being in game you'll need to keep alt+tabbing though.
So talk before logging and resume chats in freelancer group chats.
If you enjoyed freighter-hauling, get yourself a dromedary or an anki. While not the most aesthetically pleaseing ships, they're every bit as good as the bactrain, lawful, and able to haul a decent amount of cargo.
The "rules" your quoting aren't rules, they're player-made dictates. Like the "embargos" and "No Fire Zones" that kill real trade and foster nothing but enmity between players (as evidenced here).
Best thing I ever did was create several indies, work for myself, and leave the whinging to some others w/o anything better to do than stroke their egos and make up rules, no matter how "inRP" they are supposed to be.
The other problem with these so-called rules is that there is a huge discrepancy in how they're implemented between different players. You can hope to get a decent enough navy player able to fire a synapse seeing you with an ALG IFF/ID'd Behemoth and think "Gee, he must work for ALG. Perhaps I can even escort him and make sure he does as he should." Instead, you get a braindead numbskull with an itchy trigger finger and a LABC waiting to fire off them Mortars and get a warm fuzzy feeling of protecting Liberty from dangerous trade vessels!

Or, you could come work for Bowex. Established routes, convoys every so often, answered questions concerning RP problems and the like. Plus, you can fly a Clydesdale if you'd like to do freighter hauling, and not have to have a large transport.

' Wrote:Next I decided to try my hand at mining. I built up my credits until I could afford a Hedgemon and thought great, "hiho, hiho, it's off mining I go...". I hated the Hedgemon! After playing for a few minutes, I was already sick of the bloody racket you have to put up with when flying it. After half an hour, I was ready to crash into a planet just to get rid of the ******* thing! So I looked around to see what other transports can be used for mining......NONE! Any other transport except the Hedgemon and you lose the mining bonus! (Why, for God's sake? Why can't you use the Ragnar, Behemoth or Golem, which are all classified as mining ships?)
Only ALG can use anything else, and they are limited to scrap metal (toxic waste isn't worth mining) and then only they only get a mining bonus in New London or New Berlin. What a croc of ****, why can't they get the bonus in other systems such as Texas perhaps, since they supposedly are welcome to clean up anywhere?
You have the same aversion to seeking conflict I have, but this server is rapidly devolving into primarily pewing, while finding RP excuses for it. Still, if shooting rocks is your preference I can show you some quiet spots...
To your points: Muting the Hegemon is possible, you just have to kill the right ambient soundfile (delete it from the mod or replace it with an empty file). Should not be too hard, I've never bothered to since the sound did not bother me too much.
Scrap metal mining can be done in Liberty as well. The field near Pittsburgh is a good one, and you can sell off that metal at Fuchu prison, 2 jumps away, at an okay price. ALG gets a scrap metal bonus as well!
Quote:Next I decided to become a trader, and I at last seemed to have found what suits me. Only to have it pointed out to me that I am in breach of rule 6.10, because despite my Independent Trader ID, my ship, a Bactrian (which is probably the best freighter in the game) is illegal to use in Liberty space. Ok, I can't understand why any ship 'type' should be banned, rather than the pilot's ID type, but to stay legal I scrape up every credit I can get and go off to buy a nice big transort ship, get a new ALG ID and start working for them hauling Toxic Waste initially. Less than a day later I get told that my nice shiny new Rhineland Behemoth is illegal to use in Liberty Space. However if I care to upgrade it to a Rhineland Golem (the ALG 'Mover'), that is perfectly legal to use all over Liberty.
Whoever told you that Behemoth is illegal in Liberty needs to have their orders checked. ALG is allowed in Liberty. The Mover is their heavy ship, but the Behemoth is allowed as well. What you were told was wrong - which, considering you were in Liberty, is unsurprising.
Hit me up on private message if you still want to learn of a few quiet mining spots. Not dropping them in the open anymore since 60-70% of the server is unlawful and bored these days.

The transport models of the Rheinland Train, Behemoth medium transport, Pirate Train and Pirate Transport are not permitted within the house of Liberty. The ALG mover and all other transport class ships are permitted.
@cmfalconer in particular: Thankyou for spitting on an article I gave up about ten hours of my life to write. What do you think roleplaying is, if not playing a role within a set of conditions? And would you have the admins write all the house laws for us just so it's a bit more legitimate in your eyes? How do you think that would go, having to write 7 sets of laws for each house and two major pirate factions? What about laws in Omega 52 (as a member of the SCRA, you should be aware of those)? How are they different from the ones in Liberty or the ones in Bretonia?
I believe what he was saying was they they're no rule in the sence of being server rules (sanctionable if breached) but roleplay laws which, despite being the accepted roleplay norms, are not coded into the server rules.
However, if he was saying they are meaningless and illegitimate in RP, I would take some issue with that...
