I maybe was able to operate a highly overclocked machine because I had it at home and was able to react quickly if something went wrong. However I failed big time when those DDoS attack came. I couldn't protect nor the server nor my network. Current server may have slightly less single-core-computing power but it is very resistant to outside attacks. Current team (mostly Cannon) is doing their (his) best, so please don't disregard this effort by such comments...
' Wrote:Did you ever find out who did the attacks and why?
Quite a lot of effort was put into this but as far as I know without a noticeable achievement. The guy uses hacked servers, so the best way was to contact the real owners to secure those servers.

come baaack! jump to maniaco and fly with us !:ylove:
I'm not sure this is the right thread, so I hope you can forgive me if I'm wrong. :$
I've noticed these last two weeks an increase in ping and lag in the connection of the server.
Ping has always been at the level of other UK Discovery RP server, over 78 ping, but this has grown to be larger than the USA Discovery server. Even when the full server, ping value has never been above 100.
I've talked to other players and have told me that they too have noticed an increase ping and lag.
Do not pretend to warn of a possible technical failure but to give this information so that you have in mind.
According to the server downtime thread, Cannon believes a faulty switch to be the cause. Faulty hardware causing a bad connection (dropped packets) will quickly impact games running on UDP transmissions. Try an ICMP ping to the server IP (use the console Ping command) to see the actual latency.
If it is faulty hardware, then there's not much to be done about it until the faulty component is fixed or replaced. Give our server monkeys some time;)
Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.
Mostly retired Discovery member. May still visit from time to time.

He suspected that something like this could happen, since the ICMP ping me back high values.
