' Wrote:I don't think this guy was too unreasonable. He typed a message that even included please, he actually allowed the trader to lower the demand by half even though chances are the trader was being truthful was just about nil(Most traders with less than 10 mill wouldn't pay someone demanding so much). He allowed the trader to question him without just opening fire(or at least by the logs didn't seem like he shot much). And finally he was smart enough to realize that having a long conversation when a lawful warship could show up at any time is a bad idea. I applaud this guy as a successful hunter of the lanes(again don't know if this was on a lane but seems like where his style would hang out).
Edit: oh shoot, pirate debate thread go!
Just a side note what impressed me to open this thread. This guy "asked" the please by a /setmsg command what contains 15 mill from anybody...

Disco piracy is like the Somalians got their hands on some Apache helicopters and are robbin trucks in Los Angeles desert
And once they stop those trucks they ask for a small amount of the money from the driver's wallet then lets him go... Realism is not a argument that should be in a freelancer anti pirate thread, it works way better for the pirates case.
Be quick,
Be efficient,
Be powerful,
The correct way to pirate

It is a bit sad that he:
A. Thought a demand of 15 mil was reasonable.
B. Never really bothered to roleplay properly.
Although to be fair I have had worse. I had a "10milordai" pirate try to rob me a while ago.
I was on my repping account
In a LN defender
With no armour
And I still escaped
:lol::yahoo:
Good thing he sucked. I very much doubt my skill had anything to do with it.
15 mil is acceptable if the trader was a 5K hauling ore. Problem is to many players look at your level, and demand cash that way. Have even had a player say "your level 90, you can afford it" and i was in a starflee at the time repping.
The demand has to fit the target IMO. 15-20 mil for 5K ore sure NP. 5 mil for a 500 frieghter hauling water is BS. Pirates need to really weigh their options when pirating each player.
1/ demanding 5 mil from empty trader = run/fight/go ahead kill me crap.
2/ demanding all cargo from a trader = run/fight
3/ demanding 5-10 mil from trader hauling water/oxygen what not = run/fight/kill me crap.
4/ demanding 5mil from average 3-5K transport with good cargo = 50/50 pay/run
5/ demanding 15-20 mil for average 3-5K trans with ore = 50/50 pay/run
6/ actually Role playing with the trader will actually surprise you, and net you good bonus money 50% of the time.

Its called metagaming I believe, and when he said "your level 90, you can afford it" when you're in starflea, then he talk OORP, so buddy, sanctionlancer time
Damn Dod, you did shoot my best lines. So I'm gonna' repost my favorite pirate experience from ages ago. I forgot it since than, so probably you also did. Let's consider it as a reward for those that read this far in the thread.. I sometimes feel there's only like 6-8 guys who get trough the 3rd page of 'Pirate daily'.
So back than I had time to chat around and work half an hour for 100K credits. Nowadays if I manage to find time to play, I just 2milordie too. But it seems I grew old, and 15mil is the standard. At least it worth a try. 'Give me 15 million ya landlubber!' 'That's outrageous!' 'Right yellow belly, two mil than!'

Bo: Umm... They lie.... umm... yeah. (Bo had to try)
<krueger.fighter>: bo had to try what?
