Alright. So today I was on my transport, [CBL]-Alan.Corentin, and I ran into a pirate named <removed>. The pirate demanded 4 million for my petty Helium cargo, and didn't exactly roleplay, so I didn't feel like paying. I ran away and managed to dock on Philadelphia Station. As a Liberty Gunboat then arrived I figured I could help him out in the fight and returned to the system in my fighter.
Once I got there, the pirate and another friend, I don't remember his name exactly, started blaming me for breaking the rules, claiming I "technically" died. I argued that transports were exempt to the rule, and therefore I didn't die. <removed> continued calling me a nab and talking to me as if I were completely stupid while telling his friend to "explain the rules to me".
Shortly after, I left the system to make sure I wouldn't get into trouble. A little later I returned on my transport to.. go about my business as usual.
Now, I'm wondering if I broke the rules here. Should the rule exemption only be used to continue trading later, and is switching ships disallowed?

I see. I just checked the rules post and it states "transports are exempt from this rule" still?:
5.6 Fleeing from combat and then docking at a station or planet while you are in range of the ship you were fighting counts as PVP death. Transports and freighters are exempt from this rule.
' Wrote:Remove player name there, no trial by forum and for your case, transport dont have any exemption anymore according to the updated rules
Please re-read rule 5.6 before you post on this matter.
To the OP, no, I don't think any rule was broken.
EDIT: Though heading to a fight that you only knew about due to the experiences of a different character could be considered meta-gaming, something people don't really like around here.
That's a very good question considering the admin team recently changed so many rules and deleted so many out of nowhere that it creates a good lot of confusion ingame sometimes.
However.

Transports and freighters are STILL exempt from this rule, you did not break any, in the current case it's him that broke the rules (lawyering falls under threatening to report usually). Switching to your fighter is okay I guess, but not really recommended. It's bad taste.

Yeah, the "bad taste" part is largely why I left the system. I wouldn't have switched to my fighter normally, however, but in this case I was mostly doing it because they were also shooting my base. And shooting someone's base just for the sake of it without any roleplay seems as much bad taste as what I did.
Edit: Plus, roleplay-wise it's not that far-fetched for someone to have a fighter docked on the station next to their base in case of emergencies.
