The Gallic onslaught continues. They have driven the Bretonians out of the Leeds system and are attempting to take over the planet. A battleship has been deployed to support their planetary assault. The fighting continues on the surface, but the Gallic forces are overwhelming. According to our estimates, Leeds will fall. It’s just a matter of time (check “The Fall of Leeds” entry for further data).
Most of our assets on Leeds (including the weaponry and equipment stored there for the needs of Task Force Carentan) have been evacuated in due time. A minor part of assets was lost during the bombardment. We have 14 confirmed KIAs and there are 5 agents listed as MIA. (check the enclosed file for the full list of our Bretonian assets).
The MIAs are causing some concern. There are at least two Internal Affairs agents (Agent E.Randall and Special Agent S.Harper; personal files enclosed) who may be still alive, stranded on the planet. These agents were assigned to assist Coordinator John Major with the management of Task Force Carentan.
They possess extensive knowledge of the LSF operations in the Bretonian & Tau regions and beyond. We can’t let that kind of knowledge fall into the wrong hands. Given the situation, I suggest deploying a small strike team on Leeds to tackle this matter.
Several LSF agents are stranded on the surface of Leeds. They possess crucial data, and we cannot let the Gallics put their hands on it. Your primary objective is to make sure that the Gallics never get that data. Use whatever means necessary to guarantee that.
The secondary objective is to extract the agents who are still on Leeds. Saving agent Edwin Randall and senior agent Samantha Harper should be your primary concern. They work for the Department of Internal Affairs and have next to zero combat experience, apart from the basic training.
We have not requested the approval of the Bretonian government, so you have to remain undetected. According to the information we possess, the fighting on the planet surface still goes on. We don’t know the numbers of the Bretonian or Gallic forces, so expect heavy enemy presence.
The targets have been last seen at the Leeds main space port. Our intel suggests that it has been overrun by Gallic forces, so the agents may have escaped the area. If so, they possess the emergency beacon which can allow you to track them down. However, the Gallics may trace the signal as well.
Once you find the agents, we’ll provide you the extraction coordinates. We are considering several locations at this time, but the situation may change. Make sure that you remain unseen, by both Gallics and Bretonians. And remember, the primary objective is to make sure that the Gallics don’t take our agents alive.

Day 1, 4:43 am
Captain’s Bridge, LSF Carrier “Freedom”
West Leeds Smog Cloud, Leeds System
- Stealth systems engaged, sir. We’re maintaining radio silence. - Good. Is the team ready? - Yes, sir. Jacobs, Sunderland and Cooper are on their way to the shuttle. The operation will commence in 10 minutes. - Very well. We can’t remain unseen forever, so we have three days at best.
Day 1, 4:53 am
Hangar Bay, LSF Carrier "Freedom"
West Leeds Smog Cloud, Leeds System
- Shuttle Ajax, you’re clear to go, over. - Affirmative, Freedom, we’re on our way.
The shuttle slowly flew out of the hangar bay. The Liberty carrier, a grand and sophisticated vessel, probably the largest ship ever produced by the Republic, remained cloaked, with only some flickering giving its location away. However, that flickering wasn’t distinguishable, mainly because of the fact that nobody would try to distinguish some flickering on the far end of the smog cloud.
As it left the hangar bay, the “Ajax” engaged its own stealth systems and headed for Leeds, the only habitable planet in the system. The pilot disabled the external radio transmitter and turned on the intercom:
- Welcome to Bretonia, ladies and gentlemen. This tour is generously provided to you by the Liberty Security Force Spa & Cruise. Now please, take a look through the illuminators. To the left and to the right, as well as above and below you, you can see the illustrious West Leeds Smog Cloud, one of the true marvels of… - Shut up, Morrison. Just because the flight lasts one hour doesn’t mean that we should be listening to your annoying speeches all the way. - As you wish, Lieutenant-Commander Sunderland. The princess is so touchy; she didn’t have the time to sleep, so I comply with her will. Good night, Ash.
The intercom was then turned off, both to Ashley Sunderland’s disappointment and pleasure. Jeffrey Morrison was always looking for an opportunity to annoy her. This time he succeeded, and Ashley didn't have the time to retort the joke. She only glad that it didn’t last any longer. Jeff was right about one thing: she could use some rest, and there was time for it. That’s why she fell asleep without even removing her light armor’s helmet. Her “Brute Mk.II” shotgun occupied the seat next to her.
In the meantime Commander William Jacobs, the group's CO, was checking his “Thunderer” heavy machine gun. He had already looked through the briefing and imagined what he should expect. That’s why he attached a silencer and a collimator scope. Then he went on to check his armor. Light and convenient, the “Shadow” was an example of the 3rd generation exoskeleton with inbuilt shielding, cloaking device and a grappling hook. It was expensive, but the Agency always settles for the best, especially when necessary.
The third operative was reviewing the briefing on his portable holocomputer again. That was Lieutenant Ryan Cooper, the group's sniper and tech expert. His “Ranger”, a multi-purpose rifle, was lying on the seat next to him, as well as two “Stinger” pistols. After looking through the briefing once again, Cooper went on to study the maps of the area where the team was heading. He wanted everything to be done by the book, without any complications, so he needed all the info he could get. Information is power. After all, that’s why the Agency sent them to Leeds.
Moore Ridge was one of the few places on Leeds that could attract tourists to otherwise industrial planet. Well, could probably attract. In theory. The panoramic view of the city would’ve been great if the city wasn’t industrial. And smoggy. And damaged during the Gallic assault. Although, who knows, maybe some people like this kind of view.
- Alright, no time to enjoy the sights. We don’t want the locals to see us. According to the plan, we have to reach the city by 10 am. Let’s move out. Cooper, scout up ahead. Sunderland, you guard the rear. - And here I thought he’d let the lady go first.
With these words Cooper engaged his suit’s stealth mode, becoming a transparent shadow. The others did the same thing, and the trio left the plateau where the shuttle dropped them. The Ajax had to disable the cloaking device to land, so it might have drawn attention. Or not. In any case, Commander Jacobs didn’t want to take any chances.
Day 1, 9:58 am
City outskirts
Planet Leeds
After a nearly 4-hour march the trio of operatives has reached the city. The way was more tiresome than dangerous: they saw a few refugees, and the stealth suits protected the agents from unwanted attention. Cooper managed to overhear something about the central part of the city being controlled by the invaders. If so, reaching the space port would be impossible. The only hope was that the agents they were looking for had left the area.
The operatives occupied the basement of an abandoned building. It appears that the building had been hit by a heavy missile, because it was impossible even to determine what the building had been used for before this war. However, its basement offered some protection from unwanted attention, and that was the main reason why it was chosen as a temporary shelter.
There the team could rest and have a meal. That is, of course, if you can call a tube of synthpaste and a sip of water a proper meal. The paste was very nutritious and could prevent dehydration. But at the same time it was tasteless, and what’s worse, it made people thirsty. The LSF solved this problem by giving each operative several tubes of synthpaste and a flask of water. One sip of water helped to deal with the sore throat feeling one would get after consuming this highly nutritious product.
The trio halted for a while to take some rest, have a meal and send a message to the HQ on a secure channel. They still needed to pinpoint the location of the lost agents, and it meant that Ryan would be quite busy for a while...
