Everything was normal. People were milling around outside, enjoying the (artificial) plants and creeks, sounds of the birds chirping, peddelers outside trying to sell their 'newest and greatest invention of the era' to people walking around, and lastly a large sigh from a specific man relaxing in his room.
Jack Starr was going what he does second best. Being lazy. Sitting at his desk, looking at the wall with nothing to do in his mind. Until of course, he allowed his mind to wander.
What will I do later today.. Where should I eat.. Should I just continue sitting here, ignoring everything that I may need to be doing? Perhaps I should pick up chicks. Wait. That line actually sounded quite classy. I'm going to use that later on. Should I d-.
Interrupted by his stomach growling, he deadpans his vision to the ground with his own grumbling. "Nope. Looks like I am eating dinner tonight.. Although.. Alone again, eh?" Talking to himself quietly as he debates what he will do.
"Perhaps.. Its a good place to start, lets see if I can get some company, hm?" Swiveling over to his console in his room, typing up a quick message. He stands up, exiting the room to find something to kill time until the designated time he mentioned. Jack was actually looking forward to one of his spontaneous ideas.

Quote:Yo! Or whatever the youngsters call the 'cool' greeting right now currently, although I am not necessarily that old, I'm slightly embarrassed that I do not know what that is. Anyways, I believe we haven't talked as often as i'd like. I 'tried' to make it a habit to get to know anyone that I work with, and you are rather.. unreadable, no offense. Anyways, on a completely different note, since I cannot think of a transition to type right now, I was wondering if you'd like to join me for something to eat later today.
I cannot promise anything big, not even a restaurant, I don't really like sitting and waiting for my food, although I know of an excellent place to grab a few sandwiches. Pathetic, isn't it? Do I care? Absolutely not! Its free food. Take it or leave it. I've included the address and time, if you'd like to come along.
Sitting on the chair idly, watching the view outside, on her own spaceship. The quiet surrounding was perfect, and Ellie liked it. Until of course… something managed to interrupt her.
"Hmph... now what?" A few seconds pass as she opens up the console to see what interrupted her. "Oh..? Well isn't this a surprise.." Laying back on the seat again, reading the rest of what Jack sent.
"Unreadable you say..? *Tsch*... well whatever. Shouldn't blame him for something that is my own fault." She laughs a bit before closing the message.
"Well, shouldn't keep the man waiting. I suppose."
She starts the engines of her Sabre, and starts flying towards whatever place Jack seemed to have in mind.
By the time she arrived down at the location Jack has chosen, she spots the man sitting on a bench, having what seems to be a fearsome staring contest with one of the birds, which obviously did not pay him any attention and continued picking up the dropped crumbs with its beak, before flying away. Jack sighs, glancing up and noting the woman who was approaching him, standing up slowly.
"Wow. You actually came. I thought your race of females preferred fancy restraints, I'm surprised. Pleasantly though. I already grabbed something from take out." Raising a bag which had a few sub-sandwiches in it.
"Why don't we take a walk then my dear, further away from the milling people. After-all, what good is talking when there are hundreds to overhear. Stupid philosophy, However, stupid things do not bother me, as long as I am the one doing them." Flashing her a grin.
Ellie simply stares at both Jack and the bird having their little staring contest. Even if the bird didn't seem to care. But stopping after the bird decided to leave. Afterwards listening to whatever Jack had to say after he stood up.
She thinks for a moment about what he just had said.
"You'd think I prefer fancy restrictions..? Not really.. atleast I've gotten used to dealing with what I have in front of me these days.." She looks away for a moment, and starts talking again.
"Well anyways, I'd appreciate some privacy I guess. Unless, like you said, you want everyone to hear us." She laughs a bit and shows a smile that looks as if it's the devils. Probably trying to imply that there was no other option than to walk.
Walking away from whatever noise had crouded his and her surroundings, she takes a look around the place.
"So.. I just have to inquire, why did you ask me to come here in the first place? Feeling lonely or somethin'..? Or.. perhaps something else.. hm?
She starts staring at him until an answer would be given.
Walking along with her, peeping into his bag as if to make sure his sandwich did not run away, glancing up at her sideways.
"Ah whats wrong with a man asking a woman out to dinner, and walk along a path? Amusing how I bet most of the people walking down the street think we are on a date, and only we know that may not be true, unless you wish to make it once of course. I merely wanted to get to know you a little better."
Pausing. "Jeez. That really does sound like I'm on a date. No matter. The question still stands, I've found you rather interesting, although I've only gotten to see what you do from afar, we've never really.. 'talked', and that is what I'd like to change. Tell me Ellie, what brought you to a madhouse such as the Commonwealth?"
Jack glances over at her, obviously amused. "Come now dear, no need to be shy. I'm pretty sure most of us had a pretty bad problem to find ourselves at home with this group of people." Glancing at his hand, clenching it for a second, before glancing back up. "Violence especially. I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one around here. Especially you. You seem a little more.. 'withdrawn' from the world, which tells me a few things darling."
Sighing, looking at the trees which slowly went past as they walked. "However, making you uncomfortable is the last thing i'd like to do. But believe me, its nice to get a load off your chest from time to time."
One thing after another, thoughts lingering. Memories of people flashing by. She was remembering it again.
"Shy.. huh? *she sighs* Right.. and a pretty bad problem? Maybe it wasn't a problem even. Just a tad bit of misfortune at the right time, and your life is in ruin... more like it."
Eventually shoving the thoughts away, as it was not the appropriate time for such.
"I'd rather keep it to myself anyway.. " Whispering again to herself.
Now looking as if all emotion is removed from her face and replaced with just a cold, emotionless expression.
By this time, Jack couldn't really resist opening up his bad and taking a bite of his sand which as he walks, shaking his head. "There you have it Ellie, you say one thing, and you bring up a defense measure to block yourself. I know someone who is excellent at faking her emotions, sometimes I wonder if she has them. If it wasnt for her stupid sister of hers." Smirking at the thought of how whoever that was.
And what will keeping to yourself do dear? All i know it will eventually end up, is sending one insane. I don't think you want that now, do you? Ah, and keep in mind. Life is never ruined unless you let it become that way. Change is actually easier than you think, although the idea may not appeal, so tell me this at least this. Do you like who you are? Ahh.. I'm sorry for bringing a philosophical question into you, although.." Eyeing her expectantly.
Having a great deal of time in thoughts on what Jack had just said. Was he trying to be polite also? Either way, the question had her considering things.
"Do I like who I am..?" That same question had sent her thoughts spiraling everywhere, dislodged.
"I don't know can I even answer that.. Looking upwards again. "But when life, as you know it, just sweeps away from everything next to you. It doesn't really help either... well.. I guess it depends on the person.
Starting to reminisce once again. Bad thoughts, fun times, odd occasions. Her past, also.
"And it didn't seem to help me. But then its as if something, or someone just happens to be there to.. guide you through a path from the dark tunnel, outside into the open.. so to speak."
Her thoughts spiraling once more, until they become calm.
"To answer your question, to put it bluntly. I do not know."
