Leah Snailum woke up from her slumber at her home station, Mactan. It'd been months since she'd left the safety of the airlocks. After her heart had been crushed, she'd found no joy in life. That night however, she'd had a dream. A dream that she'd one day be herself again. She grabbed an old half filled notebook and ripped out the used pages. It was strange to her to be writing instead of using the common video feeds. Leah had always been different, however.
Day 1 - 28.02 - 04:11
"Dear diary...
Today, I got out of bed and realised that I needed to stop being a layabout. I feel creative for once. I took my mum's notebook and i'm gonna keep a track of everything I do from now on. Wow, i'm so old-fashioned. Oh well! Everything from eating cereal to watching porn and probably crying into my pillow, too; will all be written down.
I've not been proud of myself recently, this ain't me man! I've been a mess for weeks. Just looking at my ship makes me feel ill. I guess I better pull myself together one day though...then again, I said that yesterday and the day before...probably the day before that too. It hurts after all this time. I had everything I ever wanted and then BAM! It was ripped away from me. My heart smashed to pieces like it was an old baby toy. I knew I didn't deserve him, it felt like a dream and it all happened so fast. These memories I have that will probably never go. I miss it...so much. I'm almost crying just writing this GOD DAMNIT GIRL!"
She stopped writing for a minute, rubbing her eyes and taking a breath. She had pushed hard on the paper, the upset had turned to anger. She picked up the pen and finished off the first entry.
"I can't stay this way. Something's got to change."
Marvelling at her grip on grammar and writing skills, she tucked the pen into the notebook, slid it under her bed and got dressed.
Upon leaving a few days later, she picked up the notebook and her bad and headed to her Sabre. Complications had arisen in it's neglect and it's performance had suffered. Her first day out was a refreshing change considering the recently common view of space from Mactan's bar. For the first time in months she had her head in gear.
Day 2 - 02.03 - 10:27
"Dear diary...
"It felt weird, holding the sticks again...oh my god, did I just write that? I did. Why am I writing this as well? AH! Anyway.
Good old New York it was. Many happy days i've spent there, tormenting the big guys in their fat-off transports and stuff. Made myself a handy few credits through all this.
Leah had never had a proper job. She made her money through being a quick learner and becoming a con-artist at every opportunity. Piracy was her game to this day.
"The place hadn't changed at all. Amateur patrols getting in my way, flower pirates thinking i'm the bad girl and cutting the lane. Gave them something to think about, oh my god! Then further memories came back to me when I was quickly crossed by an LSF goon by the name "Carnivore". Quite the one-liner he was, clearly thought he was all it! Nothing compared to what i've faced in the past buuut some kids think they're the dogs danglies! Poor 1 inch-wonder had to get his 'lil friend involved to send me away. I hope I was transmitting 'cause oh man! The laughter! Rochester opened it's doors to welcome me. Think I might stay here for a while.
She felt exhilarated by the whole experience. It was nothing new but it felt like it. She closed her notebook and stuffed it back into her bag. The bar was calling.
