Introduction
The Blood Dragons, as they call themselves, were once the Royal guard of the Hideyoshi dynasty.
However, after the coup against the dynasty, a large portion of these guards managed to break through the siege's lines and travel into the unknown darkness of space.
Following the time of the dynasty's fall, in a time frame of about 50-70 years later, a large portion of exiles, that were deemed hostile to the new emperor and were either kicked from civilized space or ran for their life to it, have eventually settled down with the original guard supplying much needed manpower and fresh blood.
The Yamo Family
The Yamo Family >-
The family, known as the Greater Yamo family, consists of the Yamo, Yamotto, Yamatto families. Traditionally the leader of the greater family is in the head of the Yamo family.
The Yamo family is one of the few royal families that practice having the firstborn of the family as the leader – regardless of the gender. This is mostly tied to the family's early times among the Blood Dragon society.
Pre-exile history
The honorable Yamo family, before their exile were sent were the regents of Honshu, holding the official title of De~yuku No-Honshu, in the Hideyoshi's dynasty name after the failure of 250 A.S when most of the planets inhabitants left. Reigning over Honshu for over 120 years, the planet's economy was at a slow-pace advance but yet the decline was fully halted. Although being inhabited by less than 1 million people, the Yamo family always took a great pride in their role and tried to fulfill it to the best extent possible.
At the year of 321 A.S, after the bloody coup of the revived Sakura festival, the Yamo family was one of the few to not directly submit to the new Samura-backed imperial family. Giving a public safe harbor for many Hideyoshi backing elements, at the year 351 A.S. the family was faced with an ultimatum, bow down and swear fealty to the new imperial family, or Honshu will face an invasion. The Yamo family, was forced to submit, and sent away some 1,000 people, most to live with the newly funded Gas Miners Guild, away from preying eyes, and the rest flew to the vastness of space.
However, the family did not abandon its practice and throughout the years 351 A.S. – 365 A.S. made several attempts to insert Hideyoshi sympathetic elements to the government to no avail. When the rumor that some of the Hideyoshi line was hiding at planet Honshu, the Emperor once again started to prey out on the family. At the year 370 A.S. several Naval Forces battlegroups were sent to Honshu, to keep an eye open on the rebellious family.
However, at the year 379 A.S. , the family attempted a coup, with the mindset of turning Honshu to a separate Regime, that would later take over the ancestral home of New Tokyo. The family managed to bribe the Naval Forces captains that were present at the system, and for 4 months controlled the militia of the planet. Then, their fortunes turned to the worst. Their head security officer have been corrupted by Samura, leading him to betray the family as the militia turned against them. Only a few sympathetic officers gave them a heads-up warning, the family left with their possessions onboard their ancestral warship and dubbed it with the new name The Red Court, taking it to the unknown and flying away to the north of Kusari, in a dire attempt of survival. At the time it is estimated that about 400 people from the family and its loyal servants have taken their leave.
Transitions period between the years 379-385 A.S.
During these years, the family's small, mostly civilian, fleet has traveled the unknown of space. Scavenging on what little supplies they could find, often trading with anonymous traders and explorers for rare minerals and information. Growing low on resources, numerous accidents lead to the occurrence that 103 of the family's members and servants have found their deaths as results of failing equipment and growing anxiety. The family's head and his sons have all died as well in an engagement with a Samura exploration wing, in an attempt to seize new equipment and the vast amount of supplies the wing carried.
The family was left to be led by Hinata Yamo, the sole remaining seed of the family, who dubbed herself as such.
At the end of the year 384 A.S. the wandering family came in contact with the Blood Dragons, later formally joining their ranks and gaining a safe harbor among them.
385 A.S. – 450 A.S.
During these years, the family was still led by Hinata. The family made a steady expansion, acquiring assets and sealing deals. Their gear was fixed, and they started to launch operations against Samura in the Honshu system, in attempt to destroy Osaka Storage Facility. While never being able to attack the facility itself, the Yamo family managed to attack several shipment convoys securing needed resources and managing to harm Samura's operations.
At the year 450 A.S, Hinata Yamo have passed away, leaving the family leadership in the hands of her firstborn – Sakura Yamo.
450 A.S. – 480 A.S.
The reign of Sakura was a shortcoming one. During her first 10 years leading the family lost much of its prestige, and many of its lower ranked members and some of its sworn men have left the family core in favor of being either Ronin, or serving other families and clans. After these 10 years, her son, Testusha Yamo, has taken the effective leadership from the hands of his mother, with her being at the lead solely for formality. After 20 years of navigating the family through hard times, Testusha rose to formal leadership by forcing his mother to forfeit the formal role.
However, at the year 475 A.S., Testusha's youngest brother Haiko that served in the guard of Shogun Okamura, saved the lives of his fellow guards and the Shogun himself, and was named as a clan leader of his own. This rushed decision raised much of a political tension between the Shogun to the Yamo family, leading to the Shogun in the time of the public announcement of the establishment of Yamotto family, a sub-ordinate of the Yamo family.
480 A.S. – 510 A.S.
The formal reign of Testusha was less successful than his informal one. The family expansion turned to a complete halt, and at the near end has started to go on a decline. However, Testusha in his foresight in order to prevent future problems, have made sure to seal a deal with his younger brother Haiko Yamotto, their grandchildren will have mutual marriage – making sure that the bloodlines stay tied preventing future problems.
However, at the wake of his leadership time, Testusha's two sons were both more than capable of leading the family. Unable to deny his secondborn's potential, he named him Daimo Yamatto, a new sub-ordinate family of the Yamo family, changing the official title of the Yamo family leader into the Greater Yamo family head.
510 A.S. – 571 A.S.
In a dire attempt to stop the decline that the family suffered ever since his father's time, Kazuki have practiced a new a method in the family. He utilized the family's skilled warriors and influence to launch piracy raids against many a target in Kusari space. While still mostly focusing on Samura convoys, the family has launched operations even against foreign shippers that happened on their course. The family, while gaining a bad repute managed to seize many properties and new wealth with the new income. This time is often referred as the gold throne in the Yamo family, as they managed to make a considerable expansion, and even started complete space-born operations.
571 A.S. – 652 A.S.
The Yamo family was once again led by a woman. Testusha firstborn, Akali, has proved herself a capable leader from early on. During this time Yamotto family was led by a woman as well – Yuki. Akali married Yuki's younger brother Akishimoto, and Yuki married Akali's brother Hiro. The quadrat proved to be a very strong cadet that led the greater Yamo family to many prestigious political and military victories. They even managed to insert several spies to be their ears in the ministry of defense leading to several successful attacks on naval forces operations in Honshu and New Tokyo, as well as avoiding patrols on the family's piracy raids.
This rapid expansion led the family to the ability to rebuild their ancestry vessel The Red Court.
Another important rule that was based in the quadrat time, was the marriage between the Yamo and the Yamotto every 3 generations, making sure the two bloodlines stick together as one.
652 A.S. – 711 A.S.
The reign of Akali's son, Hakiro, was a long one. However, looking from a bigger view, it proved to be a very failing one as well. During Hakiro's reign, piracy, as practice has stopped completely among the Yamo and the Yamotto family, however the Yamatto family refused to abandon the practice, and with the lack of it from the other two families had increase flux of operations. Instead, the Yamo and Yamotto families have concentrated in securing the Shogun's rule. They went on numerous campaigns while slowly draining out the family's many resources that were obtained in the times of the Quadrat, slowly leeching on the bountiful resources of the Yamatto family.
This led to an in-between battle between the Yamatto to the other two families, as they refused to support them any longer. Desperate to not lose the Yamatto or get in an open conflict, Hakiro have married his firstborn son into the Yamatto family, and in a desperate move killing the family head and his 2 first heirs. However, failing to kill the younger son, the Yamatto launched an assault on The Red Court, once again making it a derelict hull before being stopped.
The family has specially trained assassins and finally managed to end the conflict by killing the last heir and securing the throne to the thirdborn daughter and her Yamo husband.
711 A.S. – 774 A.S.
The next reign was of Shira Yamo, whom was in fact the secondborn daughter of Hakiro. However, as Shira's brother was married into the Yamatto family the weight of leading fell on her shoulders.
Shira, who recognized the potential in her family's ability to end conflicts in a quiet manner, quickly started to give Yamo services to other families and clans that wished to deal with problematic individuals in manner that is hidden from preying eyes.
Shira, also restored the practice of piracy, however upon her later years this was has ceased nearly completely again by her son. It's important to note that due to the conflicts that occurred during her father's reign, Shira did not marry a Yamotto, rather securing the assistance of an outside clan by marrying their firstborn son.
774 A.S. – 818 A.S.
With the formation of the Rising Sons movement, Ryuu Yamo have married his younger sister to his far cousin in the Yamotto family, marrying a Yamotto himself thus forming the second Quadrat. Ryuu have joined the Yamo family into the movement, bringing a new glory to the family under the leadership of the new Shogunate. Yamo men and women could even be found onboard the long lost battleship – The True Throne. The Yamo family has even been known to even utilize the True Throne in the aid of their own forces, in several occasions.
Rumors say that up to this day they maintain access to this marvelous ship.
