mmk, but at the very least can this survey ship say something other than being silent? I don't mind that I get caught, I mind that I'm getting caught by someone who can't (or won't) speak even when I reach out to them. For the amount of time that you spend as a player complaining about lack of interactions this seems like an easy one to solve. Again I'm not asking for much more than a response of some kind, hell I would even be ok with something along the lines of "*you hear a shutter sound*"
e: to sum it up better, I always thought blackmailing people would be more fun and RP involved than simply calling the authorities
The issue with blackmail in nearly every instance in Disco is that when it involves quasilawful factions there's a very good chance that it'll backfire, especially if attempting to blackmail / extort a member that isnt actually part of any tagged faction.
All conversation logs are recorded, so attempting to actually blackmail another person can very easily end in the attempted blackmailer getting in more trouble than the actual person being blackmailed, who as an individual DOES unfortunately have access to /rename commands while as a tagged faction your entire group can be held liable with no chance to escape consequences. Even then, telling someone you're going to report them can have other consequences for the reporter if they give any kind of indication inrp of their intentions.
This isnt really an ideal situation but to the best of my own knowledge there really isnt any other way for it to be handled that's actually safe for the one with the evidence, though I do understand the frustration and concern.
Since someone replied to me and got moderated I'll leave another post, hopefully he sees it. Look man, everything you do in the game has RP consequences. If you're going to pirate as a junker, I advise you to do it as an indie because you're attracting the attention of the navy & LPI. Remember that continuous reports coming in may make them decide your presence in Liberty will no longer be tolerated. Have fun rebuilding Spire.

JM are not Congress lol
Btw, please, getting pirated is common. If you get pirated a lot of times by JM, maybe it's time to think about the trade route and the anti pirate measure you take. Instead of that, sweet threats like this won't help. Adapt or join IMG to counter these filthy JM pirates. : )
3 Encounters with [JM] and i can safely say my desire to play Freelancer has diminished greatly. Take it as a compliment for your "pirate skills" or not. Still dont understand why its needed to be such ****s about pirating. I get that you want to fill your hold. But take all my crap each and every time... *so mad*
It seems at least one JM player goes over the top:
First my trader got destroyed in Frankfurt - with a single liner in S13 while my char was in the docking sequence already.
Then the same char operated in Sigma13 by switching chars as soon as a trader is in Honshu.
Now I saw the same char pirating in the Omegas who I spared some days ago on my Correo when he was shipping ore, acting like a power trader.
I just remembered that one of those encounters ended with the [jm] demanding that i drop my cargo, which i dud and RPed ina friendly way and then destroying all of it and telling me to leave...
This is all the crying I am going to do about this.
