(It's obvious you have not read thoroughly.)
if they are, they're much less likely to cause trouble.
See, guess who takes the flak when some indy powertrader comes along and decides to buy a battleship, then starts trouble, gets sanctioned, makes enemies, or whathaveyou.
It isnt him that the retaliation gets directed at, it's the official factions of his affiliation. If an indy junker comes along with, say, an outcast destroyer, and starts causing trouble - the people who dont like his RP (which is probably nonexistant, he just wants to wtfpwn noobs with his leetsauce battleship) are going to retaliate against the JU and the junker's congress - and hell, we dont even force registration.
What the factions are trying to do by forcing registration is make sure that people who are using powerful ships (or perceived to be powerful, they really arent) arent abusing them and making the factions look bad.
Thing is, someone can come along in a bomber and cause a hell of a lot more trouble than someone in a destroyer, cruiser, battlecruiser, etc. - but a bomber is small, it doesnt attract a lot of attention or even look all that powerful.
It's all a matter of perception, and in a roleplay sense capships take a lot more resources from a faction to create - so it's reasonable that the faction would want to keep tabs on all of the caps in active 'service'.
"It isnt him that the retaliation gets directed at, it's the official factions of his affiliation." - who gets the blame.
People need to take responsibility for their own actions.
And people who are not involved shouldnt say a word.
They should shut up and stop flaming other people, OR factions.
If an indy makes trouble, have him take the fall, not the player factions.
If a faction member makes trouble than blame him, not the entire faction.

Tenacity: What if a person is on the forum, does not go around whoring, obeys the server rules and has not been sanctioned once and has RP for their ship on the forum?

Then they really shouldnt have a problem taking 30 seconds to post a two-liner in a capship registration thread, should they?

That isnt how people think. See, an 'indy' with a capship has nobody above him to report to. He doesnt take orders and nobody can take his 'power' away (short of the admins).
When that indy screws things up and pisses people off, they generally cant do anything themselves about the matter - so they want someone on the 'inside' to 'fix' how the target is behaving - so they go to the official factions with complaints.
The factions are tired of getting complained at for the actions of people they shouldnt be responsible for, so they took matters into their own hands and created ship registration in order to limit OORP behavior with those ships.

Unless the registration places restrictions on how the individual can RP, whilst the individual is roleplaying within the rules, when the individual has been RP-ing like that even before the registration was made.
Perhaps people should learn how to press the SS key, host the picture and post a new topic in the sanctions sub-forum?
As a long time opponant of registration i thought i would make a post here as well::
I dont like the idea of registration - i dont believe GOOD players who, as noobl3t said do not break rules, do RP and have not been sanctioned should be forced to do it.
However, there is a middle ground here - that needs to be seen. If an indie steadfastly refuses to register thats their right, but they need to see also that the factions who do this also have the right to ask you to do it. (It's all in RP right?)
My corsair character is a cantankerous old stubborn corsair who is proud and a little traditional, he refused to register his ships... i actually Role Played his refusal/
Yet his ships are registered.... but he didn't do it:)(worked it out in RP)
The point is.... the middle ground is that i worked with the existing factions to do it, who in turn worked with me to allow me to stay true to my RP - it doesn't have to be all black and white and authoritarian. Indies like to be independent, true - and good for them, but does it hurt to work with the factions you play beside even just a little? If registering your ship makes them calm down and lets you get on with it......After all, when it comes to a fight, these are the guys who will fight with you, the people you will pm and ask for assistance, and the people you will assist - they're also the people you'll do a lot of your Role playing with.
Same with factions, sure there are a lot of bad eggs among indies, and, it frustrates the pants off good faction players to deal with indies who have no idea... that being said, a measured and patient response to these people cant hurt either.
I would like to point out that nooblet wanted to have his ship automated.
But the 101's registrations require "no automation."
So in Noobletes case, he has no chance of getting registered - despite the fact that he would like to.
That is the specific example that he is refering to above.

huh what...applying more rules in an already rule laden server...sheesh i think that would be a bit much...but then again...i never fly caps and don't have any issues blowing them up over and over again.

Oh yeah, and I have 4 hours remaining to register or my vessel get's PVP-whored.
