Vaelin followed after Thomas, he had no wish to stay on the planet then more was necessary due to the fact of Cardamine addiction. He set his gaze upon the ‘church van’, he turned his attention to Thomas to speak.
“What I most wonder from this, is why you would help me from not being under the control of the nomads, I understand why they would seek to ensure my loyalty to them, though my perceptions of races aren’t exactly something that would thoroughly do that. Why would you seek to help me regain my complete independence, would not make ripples with the others at all?”
It had been a question that had bothered him for some time, there was no true reason in his mind as to why he would do this, at least not in the way he believed they operated. In truth he did expect a sting to set in somewhere but it presently had failed to manifest just yet. He said nothing in relation to the requested item as there was not much to say, another part of the reason why there was some residual worry, its not something they would just part with.
“Contrary to your belief, there is no actual crew on the Anubis, it’s operated by droids that are controlled by the AI’s of the ship, it took some methodical work to realize that side of what I sought. I don’t trust people so much either, less so crew. When I broke away, I weeded them out. My ship is meant to be a harbor from the storm as well, which is why I want that device to awaken a few lost powers that the ship once possessed and help make it of even more of a safer place.”
Vaelin would seek to enter the Van at this point, he was quite sure that the ride would take some time and there was nothing stopping Thomas from continuing it on the Osiris. He rolled up his left sleeve and sent out a message to the Anubis, which would now move into the orbit of Alpha. A strange sight to any, seeing a Order ship within the space of those who worship what the ship had once hunted. He had already met those that held a prejudice to what it represented, this was something he was more inclined to dismiss until it became a true problem.
Thomas had encountered this before. when angela corino ambushed him in space. thomas smiled at the question.
"Only a human would see it as betraying my race by helping others cope with what has been done to them in ignorance. How is it not helpful to assist a rouge order agent in a vary large ship, who probably now has no friends... or vary little friends left in the universe?
The hive is not a gun club. You cant "leave" it anymore then you can leave breathing air. Ive been accused of betraying and downright twisting what the spirits are but what those 'people' don't understand Is i do what i do for them so that they can evolve beyond what they are, what they have been. Humanity needs the same help. this is why you'll see no holy wars from us.. no jihad on any group.
It was a lesson the elders of the universe learned too late and I know this for a fact... and i wont have the divine make the mistakes of their makers, if i can help it."
He listened to the rather sad statement he had no crew. and was somewhat miffed Satrina didnt mention this...
"Vaelin that is frankly the saddest thing i've ever heard. If you haven't been paying attention as I have the order itself is losing vital friends.. Should Golanski not rectify this I feel there will be a massive effort to wipe them from the existence of the sector. even this warning.. its not a betrayal its just me explaining to you the facts.. as i see them of course.
Vaelin
Vaelin looked him for a time in apparent confusion before dismissively shaking his head. He was well aware if the Orders current state of affairs and a small degree beyond that. He had left seeing it falter from its purpose and devolve into a paramilitary which they paid for with Toledo. "Yet what I have asked is to have what was tampered with reversed, thus undoing the reassurances that one of yours threaded. Trust is a luxury within the Omicrons, I doubt when or if they find out, that they will be so happy.
Vaelin had been foolish to believe that he could be trusted and work for the greater good, the changes to his views assured his self-conclusion. He was never loyal to what he morally saw as a fault, voluntary or involuntarily he always strained against bonds placed on him. Defiance had always been one of his best and worst qualities, it left him often apart from any group of people. "The Order is not what it use to be. Some may believe it changed for the better, but when they became complacent they had assured their peoples fate on Toledo. Ironically they were safer being nomadic, a shadow not a hurdle."
