Hey. I can't get my Freelance game to connect to the server.. All it does is sit there and say "Connecting to Global Server". I even left it there for an hour to see what would happen and nothing has happened. Help Please :)
Firewall might be blocking it. Thats what always happend to me when I had mine up... :( It was the only reason I went off Freelancer... I would have stayed on if I could get online... :) Luckly I found Discovery.. which made me re-addicted to Freelancer :D .
maybe global server was down when u tryed to go online
also, do u have more then one firewall installed....
check is windows fiewall turned on...if it is try to turn it off
try direct connect to the server...u have instructions somewhere on forum (if not i will write it later)
if nothing helps try to reinstall the game but be sure to write down your ID number...
I'll get that for ya doom. Someone was nice enough to help me with the very same thing so yeah. Find the .exe file you use to start the game and and paste this > "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s24.121.115.231:2302
in the target area. Should get you the discovery server everytime.
find the Freelancer.lnk (not the .exe) in the Start Menu>Programs>Microsoft Games>Freelancer
Right-Click it, select Properties, in the Target field add this:
-s24.121.115.231:2302 -s24.121.115.231:2302
yeah, twice, it won't show up in LAN if you do it once
start FL, then select Multiplayer>LAN
you will have the Discovery 24/7 server on the list

if you go and select "LAN" with the shortcut set up, it's going to show only the server(s) from the shortcut and the servers on your LAN if there are any.
... and, yes, the shortcut is to the .exe file, but the shortcut itself has a .LNK extension... hope I didn't confuse anyone
