Zoe Cromwell Biography, Encounters, Background Journal Entry 001 I figured I should start making one of these. Funny, I never thought I would, even laughed at those who did. But when I found some old printed pictures... I really understand why people want to document parts of their lifes now.
Let's start with the most recent event then. Oh I should really start taking more pictures. Nevermind.
So, I went out with Gold squad to capture that slave smuggler someone saw yesterday. And we were successful. If it weren't for me not having any cardamine left the operation would have ran as planned after that as well. When we got the smugglers pinned I already felt bad, really bad. My mates took out the two mates of the guy who I got to know as Cayden. He managed to bargain for his life by giving me the cardamine they had hidden on board, saving my life by doing so. He even managed to get me to drop him off at Freeport six! I didn't really mind in the end though. Flying through the Barrier and moving into the Taus again... that was good.
Well, I spent some time there, resting and moved to search for targets in the area then. Sadly the only gallic ships I could find were capital vessels. I me an armed forces pilot, cut off from his battleforce, though. Scans were weird but he said he was equipped for behind the lines operations, might have been some equipment to hide him from enemy scanners. Lieutenant Ewan Lewis, was the name he gave me in addition to a mission. I was supposed to deliver data he collected to New London high command. I was paid and was happy to help them against those gallic bastards. Well no need to say I managed to deliver everything according to plan and moved back towards the Taus which seemed to be good for future work.
And *she sighs* I managed to find a solution to my cardamine problem. I finally managed to stop an outcast. Nathan Bloodrose. He offered to solve my cardamine problem for me. He just demanded enough to nearly make me unemployed. In exchange for cardamine I was supposed to leave the outcasts and their allies alone. The outcast aren't the problem since I don't hunt them anyway. But allies? Leave the GC and the Rogues alone, he said. What is he thinking? The Rogues are crowding Liberty like an insect swarm and I was supposed to leave them alone. I accepted though. I had to. He threatened me that he would make noone sell me cardamine anymore. And I believe that he could.
Let's jump to something more happy then. Cayden called as he promised. I didn't believe he would, but I will take all the distraction I can. Let's see how he is in private... without being threatened by an armed bounty hunter. *she smirks lightly and turns the recording off*
Zoe Cromwell Biography, Encounters, Background Journal Entry 002 It has been quite some time since the last entry. Oh well, maybe it wasn't so much but still so much happened that it feels like weeks. A miracle I even found time to do this. I looked at my last one just now and I guess I should start from there.
Well, I met Cayden in a bar on Freeport 6 again. He seems to be a nice guy, we talked for hours and even though I had something like... a breakdown... it was very nice. I might have been a little drunk in the end but it was nice to finally talk to someone again. I didn't tell him everything but even with what I told him it was quite a lot. He seems to be trustworthy to some extend and I don't believe I told him anything harmful. His morals were a little... questionable but I guess I am not in the position to judge.
Zoe Cromwell Biography, Encounters, Background Journal Entry 003 I will never get the hang of frequently doing these but here I am, life twisted my way yet again. My work for the Bloodrose Syndicate went well for a couple of weeks. I received a Sabre to work with. It was quite the nostalgic feeling and I couldn't keep myself from missing the old days even though the things we did were wrong and stupid. The ship did what I expected of it although it was a bit old and had its problems. I missed my Manta most these days.
But the whole situation deteriorated when the Syndicate broke apart more and more. I soon lost the little contracts that were left. But at least I got my Manta back. Sadly the Cross declined the usage in Maltese core space but I will manage. The Freeport in Tau-37 is a lovely place after all and I know it well. But what really topped the whole situation was the job offer from Atlantis. That corporation is something I wouldn't have expected on Malta. It is a High Tech company and I work security there. It is nothing close to what I once did but I get paid again and I am not so dependant anymore. And it is nice to work something real again. It is still Maltese but it feels... better.
I am looking forward to seeing what will come out of this.
Zoe Cromwell Biography, Encounters, Background Journal Entry 004 Much has happened since the last time. I left Malta again. I guess that is for the better. Whenever I tried to set foot on that pretty place, things seem to get worse. I will miss just breathing the pure air without need to ever take any cardamine. The people are also so calm and without stress, I guess that is a nice side effect of knowing you will grow quite old and slowly in addition to that.
But the infighting gets worse. And I enjoy my freedom too much to not having grasped the opportunity to leave. I met some person that seems to be in need of my help. Maybe that is where I should start anew. I got quite a lot of new beginnings in my life, maybe doing a bit good on the side will help me find my place. I will see if the Guild takes me back. I was good at that. And what else is there that I can still do?
I regret leaving Atlantis behind. But I don't want to stay so close to Malta any longer. I wish them best of luck, really. They have the potential to give that place some more modern structure which it direly needs. Well then. I cleared my appartment and will take the Sabre to the Freeport where my Manta waits. Then I will make my trip to Sheffield and then to Barrier Gate to meet Leo. I wonder if he did what I asked of him... maybe he forgot. And I also hope the Guild still has me registered, otherwise that whole Manta business will be over quick.
Zoe Cromwell Biography, Encounters, Background Journal Entry 005 That Leo is really making me worry. How can someone be so lifeless and so... unsociable. I had a hard time to get him to talk at all and when he did it was nothing happy. I wonder if I will ever get him to talk to someone else. Why he talks to me I haven't found out yet. But I will. I still have a job to do though and that I did. I heard about Rogues being active in Liberty and went to investigate. I found them rather quick, they didn't keep quiet at all. Together with the LPI I managed to take down a Rogue and I had to take out the Outcast as well. His fault for not leaving us alone. He wasn't as strong as I expected from a Maltese but then again I am not in the disadvantage with his cardamine. I never saw the advantage of surprising especially the Maltese with a Hunter being dependant on cardamine. Maybe it will come in handy another day.
I will return to Sheffield to get the damage on this ship fixed and then return to Barrier Gate. I hope they can fix it. I don't want to switch to another ship. But if not I guess I will have to retrieve the Sabre.
Zoe Cromwell Biography, Encounters, Background Journal Entry 006 Took me long enough to get this out again. But I am in a difficult position with too much time on hand. I chased some Gallic Navy scout into the far Sigmas. At least I think it was a scout since it went that far. I first wasn't even sure if it was the real thing but they had the ship and all the transponders.
Still she tried to convince me that she wasn't gallic. That she was Maltese and babbled something about places only a Maltese would know. Well certainly a good way to prove it when I cannot know these places either.
[21.07.2016 19:26:05] Maria.Veraz: "Of 'mine'" *She laughs* "You really believe I am one of them? Do I sound like a stupid Gaul?"
[21.07.2016 19:26:10] Zoe.Cromwell: It is nothing personal.
[21.07.2016 19:27:02] Zoe.Cromwell: Well it doesn't really matter what you are...
[21.07.2016 19:27:02] Maria.Veraz: *She coughs and switches on a video feed, she holds a small plastic bag up to the camera, full of.. orange stuff.*
[21.07.2016 19:27:09] Maria.Veraz: "Guess know what I am."
[21.07.2016 19:27:28] Zoe.Cromwell: You take cardamine. It's not like that makes you anything special.
[21.07.2016 19:27:33] Zoe.Cromwell: For a gaul maybe...
[21.07.2016 19:28:10] Maria.Veraz: "I am the head of a Maltese noble family. This ship and transponder are.. let's say a temporal addition to my job."
[21.07.2016 19:28:18] Maria.Veraz: "So shut your mouth."
[21.07.2016 19:28:21] Zoe.Cromwell: Is that so?
[21.07.2016 19:28:25] Zoe.Cromwell: I don't take orders from you.
[21.07.2016 19:28:31] Maria.Veraz: "Hm. Sure you don't."
[21.07.2016 19:28:42] Zoe.Cromwell: And you cannot prove that you are Maltese.
[21.07.2016 19:28:49] Maria.Veraz: "No?"
[21.07.2016 19:28:58] Zoe.Cromwell: Well how will you?
[21.07.2016 19:29:26] Maria.Veraz: "Nothing easier then this. So.. what could only a true Maltese know? Ever heard of Corsica?"
[21.07.2016 19:29:50] Zoe.Cromwell: Huh?
[21.07.2016 19:29:58] Maria.Veraz: "So not. Good, good."
[21.07.2016 19:30:17] Zoe.Cromwell: that is not exactly good proof.
[21.07.2016 19:30:26] Maria.Veraz: "Oh really?"
[21.07.2016 19:30:30] Zoe.Cromwell: Yes really.
[21.07.2016 19:30:43] Maria.Veraz: "Ask me everything you want about Malta and the Nacion then."
[21.07.2016 19:30:50] Zoe.Cromwell: This is not a quiz.
[21.07.2016 19:31:03] Zoe.Cromwell: It is you who should want to prove it, not me.
[21.07.2016 19:31:07] Maria.Veraz: "Knowledge is the only way besides Cardamine to proof it."
[21.07.2016 19:31:17] Maria.Veraz: "Hm. Alright, alright."
[21.07.2016 19:32:02] Maria.Veraz: "How to proof it to you now, oh right. Let's simply take you to a hidden place?"
[21.07.2016 19:32:09] Zoe.Cromwell: No.
[21.07.2016 19:32:11] Maria.Veraz: "One only a few Maltese families know of?"
[21.07.2016 19:32:14] Zoe.Cromwell: I won't follow you.
[21.07.2016 19:32:15] Maria.Veraz: "Not dangerous."
[21.07.2016 19:32:31] Zoe.Cromwell: Don't treat me like I'm dumb.
[21.07.2016 19:32:35] Zoe.Cromwell: I wont walk into traps.
[21.07.2016 19:32:40] Maria.Veraz: "Traps, huh."
[21.07.2016 19:32:46] Maria.Veraz: "Calling knowledge a trap."
[21.07.2016 19:33:14] Zoe.Cromwell: Call it what you want.
[21.07.2016 19:33:21] Zoe.Cromwell: You either get an idea now or well...
[21.07.2016 19:33:28] Maria.Veraz: "Or well, huh?"
[21.07.2016 19:33:39] Zoe.Cromwell: Or I guess I have to take you by force.
[21.07.2016 19:33:41] Maria.Veraz: "Nobody would pay you for it."
[21.07.2016 19:33:52] Maria.Veraz: "There is only a single person in Sirius who would pay you."
[21.07.2016 19:33:58] Zoe.Cromwell: Aha.
[21.07.2016 19:34:08] Maria.Veraz: "Yes."
[21.07.2016 19:34:13] Maria.Veraz: "Wanna know who?"
[21.07.2016 19:34:19] Zoe.Cromwell: *sighs* Who?
[21.07.2016 19:34:27] Maria.Veraz: "My own sister."
[21.07.2016 19:34:44] Maria.Veraz: "Try it. Try taking me to Rosa." *She laughs awkwardly*
[21.07.2016 19:34:44] Zoe.Cromwell: Aha. I am not convinced. And I will get paid. So please stop.
[21.07.2016 19:35:00] Maria.Veraz: "She might pay you several millions for me."
[21.07.2016 19:35:09] Maria.Veraz: "But is this worth risking your life?"
[21.07.2016 19:35:13] Zoe.Cromwell: Aha. And she is?
[21.07.2016 19:35:32] Maria.Veraz: "Hm. A Maltese, like me. With.. quite some influence from the little I heard."
[21.07.2016 19:35:49] Zoe.Cromwell: You know... please stop. One last chance.
[21.07.2016 19:35:59] Maria.Veraz: "Ah, shut up and die already then."
Well, doesn't matter now. She certainly was better than me as she beat me and I had to bail. The only station close was Newport and I barely managed to dock there. My ship was barely holding together. I guess I'll have to ask for help since no one here seems to be willing. And the people who are don't look like a good choice.
I guess since I am this close to Malta I could try getting AM to help. Last time was going well. People on the station were talking about changes among the Maltese so I hope they are still in business. It's worth a try. Better than the alternative that is crawling around here. I bet half of these people have a bounty on their head.
*sighs and just turns it off*
Zoe Cromwell Biography, Encounters, Background Journal Entry 007 I talked to Miss Loyola. Or Enma how she wanted me to call her plainly. She was pretty open and nice actually. Not the kind of leader I expected. She was asking me many things that I don't know why actually. Still she made clear that this would be my one and only chance. But she made it sound like that was just a formality. Like she didn't expect me to fail anyways. I am already more accepted within that short a time than in weeks under the cross. This new council seems to see the potential instead of my former job.
I'll try my best to prove them that this was a good choice. Oranos was more helpful than I'd have dreamt of and I will have much to repay on that side too. Not that I mind. Finally it seems like my work means something again. Now I need to hope my ship is done soon and I can get to work.
