The Niverton Rogues are a loosely affiliated band of smugglers, that decided to unite under one banner, so to speak, to help each other so they can be more successful in the dangerous cardamine business. Most of them are from Liberty Rogues background, but some are ex-freelancers or junkers that saw the advantage of being in a group rather than alone.
It was an iniciative of Lewis Reed, known by the rogues as Crazy Lou, an old Liberty Rogues (LR-) Veteran - although Lou acts more like an old uncle to the young pirates than an evil boss - together with Tweaker Ted, a young yet experienced slaver captain. The ranking structure of the group is very loose and leadership is something that comes naturaly rather than via promotions.
Early History:
After being declared dead by the Liberty government in 800 A.S., at the Freeport Seven destruction, and being kept secretly under arrest for 19 years in Huntsville, Lou escaped the prison station during an inmate rebellion, stealing a Rhino freighter in the process. After the ship, damaged in the escape, drifted into a jumphole, he was rescued by the rogues of Alcatraz. Being an experienced pilot, and not a kid just out of the reformatory, his knowledge of space traveling and unusual routes caught the attention of the Liberty Rogues leadership. He was recruited by Clyde Johnson, head of the Rogues Council. Soon, he took the wing of the Underboss Jesse James, that later on would become the new Warlord, some time after Lord Moka's disappearance.
Those were good times for the Rogues. The cardamine flux was at its peak, heavy convoys were leaving to and arriving from Malta on a daily basis. Lou respected very much the Rogues leadership, and was respected by them in return, being promoted to Veteran, with the authority to lead wings and convoys, and issue orders to the regular rogue. That was when Warlord James disappeared without a trace. Suddenly, his channels with the leadership were cut. Several Warlords succeeded one another in the next few months, all getting killed or also disappearing. The Council was more and more isolated everyday. Soon, all his friends were dead or missing. Lou decided to leave before someone tried to disappear with him too.
After almost a year flying in his old Rhino, with a hacked IFF, Lou heard of the dissolution of the Liberty Rogues Council. He decided that it was a good opportunity to go back. He moved to Niverton Base, on the Pennsylvania system, the most populated Rogue station, where the demands for all types of cargo are high. He opened a bar there, to serve as his base of operations. That's when he first met a freelancer by the name of Tweaker Ted, also a long time and very experienced smuggler, owner of a modified 'Slave Liner', and very proud of his exploits. Both were having the same difficulties: technical problems with the ships, no vessels for replacement, small crews... Both realized that joining efforts they could overcome these problems, so they started to create a 'business plan' of sorts, on how to operate and expand. That's when the Niverton Rogues cartel was born.
Base of Operations:
Niverton Base - Pennsylvania system Class:Sediment class Asteroid Base Affiliation: Liberty Rogues Gravity: Complete Population: 1110 (est)
The main base of operations for the cartel is Niverton Base, hence the name of the group. It is one of the most populated Liberty Rogues stations, making the base the perfect location to start up the business, as the station acts almost as a hub for the cardamine being distributed in Liberty, and for the slaves that are taken to Malta as payment for the Orange Dream.
For those reasons, the traffic of trade ships from all parts of Sirius is also heavy. Junkers, Lane Hackers and even Outcasts frequent the station daily.
Internal Organization:
Very compact rank structure, since the group is still very small. The leadership is shared between the Manager and the Director of Operations. Those are more designations than strict functions each one performs, though. Below them are the cargo and escort Pilots, and last the ground crews.
- To establish a strong presence in the Cardamine and Slaves market;
- To expand the presence of the group to other drug and contraband markets.
- To re-establish the Rogues as the main player in the Liberty contraband market.
- To control Liberty's Cardamine and Slaves market.
Diplomacy:
Friendly:
- Outcasts;
- Mollys;
- Lane Hackers;
Neutral:
- Everyone Else;
Hostile:
- Liberty Navy;
- Liberty Police Inc.;
- Liberty Security Force;
- Liberty Corporations;
- Xenos;
Ship and Tech Usage:
This is a 'freighter based' group. For logistic and risk assessment reasons, only freighters and fighters are allowed to all pilots. Other classes of ships depend on the approval of the leadership.
Every member, at acceptance, will receive a fully equiped Bactrian freighter. If the new member wants to fly a different ship, aquiring the new vessel comes under total responsability of the pilot. All techs available to Rogues can be used, as long as authorization from the technology owners is granted.
(** // Note: Except for the first Bactrian, ALL ships must be 'RPed for' in some justifyable way. **)
There is no defined recruitment process for the group. Smugglers interested on being part of the Niverton Rogues should send a private message to Crazy Lou or Tweaker Ted, describing personal background and previous experience.
