Oh... idea... not sure if its possible... but, would be the Depletion rate be linked directly to the maximum price of the ore? in this way, the most profiteable fields would be more risky, and others less profiteables more peacefully... its just an idea.

nice idea @ JohnnyWalker but it is possible to drain a field with only 2 miners in the morning - so when others come out later and shoot 2 times they retire from dry field or hoopp out F1 inng (we already had this)
by the way ... why are mining fields left close to reutlingen when all others were taken away ?

Kruger has only 2 mining fields, and those are these 2 in omega 7. We have nowhere else something and we have a lot of hostiles to begin with, much more then many other (mining) factions, not to forget the no docking rephacks. Reutlingen became to exist after many RHA and other faction players decided to f1 in the field and the Kruger faction became useless. We couldn't even mine or someone just logged in made a message to attack and we all died. There were full reports of this. Also the station is not so safe as you may think. It keeps big ships at a safe distance, but small ships use the station turrets to shoot the transports to hit the station with a cd so it become hostile. Then they make sure you are in between the gunfire, do not say this do not happen, because it is happening.
Also ALL other factions have many cool and nice toys, kruger do not have these. Own shiplines? no we use the plain civilian ships and some exceptions on a bhg ships. And still RHA, GMG and many other hostile ships have better stats then we have. Only advantage we have at this time is this station for keeping the big capital ships at a distance. But still a problem with smart pirate activity in the area, because then you are just a sitting target on their scanners.
Logged in this morning to try out the gold ore changes in Dublin - and I have to say I'm quite excited about them.
The fact there is one gold ore field out in the Chester cluster is interesting. As I usually am 'Mollying', I am excited about the prospect of when I go out to mine - anything could happen. If no one shows up? Hold of ore, sweet. If a miner shows up? Piracy, sweet. If police/military show up? A getaway attempt/fight, sweet. what makes this even sweeter? There are now clear smuggle routes for Molly smugglers into Liberty with gold ore. (Disclaimer: These may have been around a while, but I've just stumbled across them being there for the first time). Friendly base to friendly base smuggling through one of the most populated and dangerous smuggling points in Sirius? Count me in.
All in all... in my small little corner of the Disco server, a Jazzi has been made rather happy.
Quick Edit: Oh, and please keep the Bactrian as a mining ship option for Mol's in the future. The thematic merits behind it as well as being an entry option for closed economy characters are awesome.
I would like to see ores be split in two groups. One are generic materials, ai, Helium, Scrap Metal, etc which are mined without the need of any specialized equipment. These ores would be fast to mine, but relatively cheap to sell and the destination should be in the same house/area.
Then we have specialized ores, which are the others: Big profit, relatively long flight time and the changes to the current mining system being:
Any transport/freighter loses its ability to mine.
Ore can be mined only by selecting a transport with a mining LF.
Mining speed is slow, but balanced out by huge profit.
Ore should not be placable on POBs.
Speed should be made that it would not be possible to easily fill a 5ker with one person.
This would also encourage the use of freighers and smaller, agiler transports due to the large amount of money being hauled. This can also mean that mining operations are time consuming and would result that people hire others to defend them.
If possible, the ore drops should not be possible until at least 4 people are in a group together and doing something.

Just 2 random flaws that came to my mind reading this ...
You are on purpose want to remove the ability to mine from people who :
A.) Have little time ( max 1 hour ) to play but want to mine
B.) Are in a time zone when there are not 70 people online to have someone to mine with.
I see what you are trying to get out of the story, but this is not a game where thousands of people play at the same time, so that limits what should be added and what not.

Two ores that seem somewhat off:
First, Munich is slightly closer to Southampton and far closer to New Tokyo.
Picardy aluminum is clearly intended to go to New London, which means GMS has no route for it.
As for Helium-3, Pittsburgh is significantly closer than Newcastle yet pays more.

you think your argumentation gives you the right beeing the only lvl5 base with less than 7 k from a mining field when all other fields are removed from pob's? you think youre the only one group which has pirates to avoid or seen in the field ? yours little bastion is a piece of cake - no miner can be threatened there !
you dont even have to change the system for another commodity ! youre using civilian ships ?- congratulations now your chance of beeing pirated is the same as everyone else has !
toys ? kruger hasnt got ? daumann hasnt got, samura hasnt got, Ageira hasnt got, ..... so what ? if you want toys - buy them Kruger isnt poor !
This is NOT a primary complainment to your base or your faction but seeing you still at the mining field has a VERY BITTER TASTE for me
* Do you know who all did help building your base, defending and did mining for you ? think of the last ones ... you think they still work for you when they have to pass 58k in space, and turning round the sun doing mining and the way back ?
NO the F1iing comes back (is already back) no teamplay with between indies no invitations to bases no secondary RP

no no and another no ... pob'S with stored ore gives a SINGLE one the possibilitiy to GET ore.
you sometimes had and still have to wait hours for a miner. The F1 thing -i pesonally totally dislike- is the only possibility for a single one getting this stuff concerning your idea.

its not the way ... its not the price ... a mining faction does mining, a trading faction does the tading quiete simple why else the ID's show cooperation partners ?
if you concern to the prices its more awful to see 2 lawful points to sell but 6 unlawful points no matter how much you will get - now piracy pays - instead of asking for 5 or 10 millions you get more blowing the freighter. AND another point is unlawfuls ONLY need to leave the system e.g. Omicron 3 or 7 at the right exit and noone will follow them into the unlawful systems or borderworld.
