Is it possible to change the faction activity tracking from tracking by tag to tracking by official faction ID? It would add a lot more versatility to the factions that suffer from getting spotted by the tag, like most pirate ones and K'Hara/Wild. It would also stop the obvious player list abusing that has always been frequent.
Unofficial factions would still keep the tag, and official ones wouldn't be obligated to remove the tag if they didn't want to (corporations). Group inviting would also be made via faction ID, and the exact command name would be chosen by faction leaders. Thoughts?
"Abusing" the playerlist has its advantages and disadvantages. Of course, traders for example can avoid interactions. On the other hand, the playerlist, alongside the tags, can be used to find interactions. You can easily remember the names of the players you encounter and this way avoiding an interaction is easy again. Though by tracking the players by ID, the faction members do not have to wear the tag if they don't want to, which is a good thing. Then again, how does this system handle chars of an official faction with SRP ID?
It´s not connected only to unlawfuls, I saw many times smugglers which changed their route once I logged off my tagged char as they rather avoided entering system where I was (or sometimes they even rather took longer way through different house). And when I logged back, they changed the route to avoid me again. So yes, this could be handy and help to reduce amount of metagaming abuse we have currently.
But we first need to know if this is even technically possible, otherwise discussion is pointless.

Mostly disadvantages. And the SRP ships can be edited? If not, then wear a tag.
