True origin of Red is not known even to himself, but it does not cloud the mine of this relatively open-minded Gallic citizens, althrough being Gaul de jure, assimilating the Kingdom's culture and language since young years. Sheltered alongside with his self-declared and more reasonable sister, Chocolat, on planet Lyon. As they left into Sirius Sector, they came across a Geisha-class liner, which both repaired and refitted to make entire vessel more capable to survive inside not-so-friendly space - later it came clear it had been a Kishiro property. They later called it Royal Lynx and pushed themselves into freelance shipping business.
Red is mourning the loss of his sister as result of Xeno assault in New York system - for which he blames himself. With time, he would eventually gather his thoughts and continute legacy without Chocolat, in order to preserve her memory in the finest way - with repaired Royal Lynx under his command.
Recently being adopted by Kusari woman, Seto Kimiki, he now bears a new name, with new hopes and plans for the uncertain future, making Planet New Tokyo his new home.
"This is the final shipment, aye?" Red had been in a rather cheerful mood since morning, counting money on Lynx's account. Hefty 300 million credits - alone for shipments and other services. "Yup!", answered his sister - Choco. "You can only look at these money from far away, bro. I still remember that bet of 50 million credits with Myako."
Mutt frowned and crossed eyes on her. "Well, it was a tie, nobody won..." "...but then, what if you were losing it? 50 million credits, you know that entire Royal Lynx's hull is worth that much. Hull alone!" "Nah, but I won, and it counts," he said and brought up another bottle of sake, smiling to himself. "I see you are feeling a bit better brother?" Chocolat asked, amused. "Maybe it was pointless to post that message to our contractors that I would be piloting Lynx for some time?"
Male frowned and laughed at that remark. "Well, I'm not that good, sis. But then, it's still better than the last time." Without much haste, Red nonchalantly dropped his legs onto desk. "At least I don't cough out blood anymore." "Myako was worried about you!" "Oh really?" Red yawned, smiling to himself. "It's because she is a mother with experiences, she worries about me."
Chocolat cough in an expressive way. "...us, right. About us both," he shrugged and looked into the sake cup, as if wondering about something. "Do you think I'd succesfully hit on her?" "You'd what? She's not surely interested into hybrids, for sure."
Red grinned at sister. "At least I'm fluffy and very pleasant to touch." "Red." "Shush, fine! You are sometimes a huge dream-ruiner, Choco." Red, being resigned at the moment, closed his eyes and put on some nice music to make themselves a bit more comfortable. "Really? KOKIA again? I cannot really understand how you can listen to that Kusarian music, Red." It was obvious that Chocolat was not really keen of her brother's interest. "I'm sure you were influenced by that guy Larry." "Why by him?" asked the Gallic mutt, curious about what was behind that statement. "You two get along with each other, doing perverted jokes about everything." "Not my fault. I might be fuzzy, but I'm still male after all. And some dong jokes shouldn't hurt."
Chocolat rolled her eyes and turned out. "You both are really gross..." "Hey, what is this?"
As soon as ship had reached the Norfolk Shipyard, the explosions and massive blasts of serious firepower welcomed them. Red dropped his feet and reached the captain's seat. "Hell, Xenos? So far from their hole and so close to Battleship Missouri?" "Great, it's simply great... So, Mr Lucky, let's just moor shipyard and wait there for some time."
Royal Lynx, their Geisha-class liner, smoothly reached the mooring point inside the scaffolds, being more or less protected. What was supposed to be wait of few minutes given the firepower Liberty Navy had - yet Xenos being agile and armed to teeth - started to prolong. Minute after minute, they had been watching how entire fight turns closer and closer to the shipyard and Missouri, which in the end started firing all the guns - successfully avoided by Xeno vessels. "It is taking too long, fire up engines." "Are you sure?" asked worried Gallic female hybrid. "It's not like these Xenos like non-Libertonians after all." "I'm sure, they are busy with Navy anyway."
Royal Lynx pushed majority of its power into engines, making vessel unable to fire a single shot in order not to make powercore deplete in a fast time. In the first time, the run had seemed to be successful, but then several Xeno vessels turned from main skirmish and started to chase Savarins' ship. "What the hell, push all power to engines!" cried Red. "I'm doing it for hell's sake!"
Despite all engine power, the battle liner was reached by Xenos in no time. "Well well, what do we have here!" exclaimed one of them, purely interested by Kusari ship, rather unorthodox outfit of the ship and strange accent of the crew. "Looks like a jackpot boys!" "God damn it! Can't we go any fas-"
Red's whining was interrupted by huge shake, caused by strong energy blast onto shield. "By my tail!" Chocolat growled, angered by sudden blast out of nowhere, dealing the damage she had never seen before. "What the hell is that weaponry! I don't even..." "Put all that power to engines! Now!" "Can't do, it's a constact distruptor fire..." "I'm firing all the CM devices...!" Red peeked on scanners, noticing only three Xenos. "We can still run for it, full power to engines, NOW!"
Choco was scrolling through touch panels and clicked buttons, redirecting everything to their propulsion, in hope they would run away. "It's damn pointless!"
The red light quickly announced that shield was already droped, what meant nothing good for the vessel - themselves. "Turn it on! Turn it effing on!"
Chocolat punched the console in act of desperation. "God damn it! Shield is fried! What the hell, I don't eve-"
Red had no time to react, seeing how his sisted was thrown through entire bridge in the end crashing with the wall. Fire started to blas away from the place she were sitting. Actually, he had no time to react in any proper way, as their Royal Lynx lost its wings, entire front section. Engine fell off as well, and lights on the damage control panel fired up like a Christmas tree. "Sister! Are you okay?" He jumped out of his place and turned her around.
His face changed from annoyance into mortified expression of surprise. What used to be part control panel, now was stuck in head and chest of Chocolat, her blood tainting everything around - herself, being immobile. It took him a while to realize her eyes. They were empty, lack of any life. "Oh my God, no... No no no no... Jesus... No... Choco? Wake up... Wake up, don't... simply don't..."
Royal Lynx stopped shaking, as Xenos stopped firing. "We are done here, we can leave that Kusari debris for our tugs for later. It's worthless piece of scrap now!" Stated one of the attackers. The entire wing turned around with intention to rejoin the battle. "Let them Gallic dogs just die in here." "Not like this, oh my God... Choco... No, you have to live...! You HAVE to!" In rage, Red pushed out the emergency comm button. "This is Royal Lynx... Requesting medical assistance! I have been... attacked... somebody... Anybody! I beg... Help me!" His voice had cracked down and the only thing he could do is to hug sister's lifeless body. The weeping of Gaul mutt could be heard by some local vessels, which were however too busy with fighting off the Xeno threat. "No... I beg you... Not like this... Chocolat... Sis..." He cried and screamed in vain, until the powercore had broken down finally - leaving just Royal Lynx's - or whatever was left to the liner - life support operating. The gravitation device stopped to work as well, raising up female's blood as if they were billions of small ruby orbs...
"So, Enzo... I have a flat on New Tokyo. Friend of mine, Miss Arashi lent me it for some time, as she doesn't visit it often." Red and Enzo were sitting next to the table, with Red playing a dice. Both were waiting for nothing, taking some break from their own matters. The Barrier Gate was usually busy at this time, but they had been able to find a relatively silent corner just for themselves. "That's good at least you have solid ground and by the sounds of Miss Arashi cares a great deal about you," said Enzo, smiling to the fuzzy Gallic, being actually bored at the moment. "Oh, she sort of does. Suprising for someone who is 'a gambling man'." Red opened eyes, looking across the table at other man. "Speaking of gambling, Enzo. Shall we do some betting?" "Hell, sure I will! What are the bets?" Asked his friend, yawning a bit as if he had not coffee. "Five million for the beginning, roll the dice, grandpa."
But then, calm chat of both had been interrupted by a view of damaged Anki docking with Barrier Gate Station. After a while, another man - owner of damaged Anki - joined the table and made a deep sigh. Both Red and Enzo looked at each other, then towards the newcomer. "Oh my dear man it seems you had a eventful trip," stated Enzo.
The stranger smiled at both and shook his head. "Eventful asteroids, indeed."
Red quickly turned his face to Enzo with that keen smile, putting single dice into a cup. "So, back to business... Five million bet, right?" "Fine with me."
Both were watched carefully by the other man, which was watching them for the first round. He became quite curious into hybrid, but spoke no word. Finally, Enzo rolled one dot, but then Red win - as his dice shown three. With a small sigh, Enzo pushed the small piece of plastic towards dogish hybrid. "Well, at least I didn't tie with anyone this time."
The stranger moved a bit and leaned towards the chair. "I'd like to gamble aswell." "Wooo, we have an interested guy here, holy hell," exclaimed Red, quickly hushed by amused Enzo. "However, since you already noticed my eventful trip, I would start with a bet of one million credits." "Fine by me," shrugged hybrid, perking up at his friend. "Enzo?" "Fine by me, I suppose, as well." "But word of warning, once we start - it's hard to stop."
The unknown man smiled a bit, just nodding. The game of three players started to roll out peacefully with small bets at the very beginning, with small amounts of money changing their owners forth and back. "Where are you from then?" asked Red, quite interested into accent and overall whereabouts of third player. He was able to notice such details. "Me? I'm not from this part of space. I'm originally from Rheinland, been around here and there, and returned there for the last years... So yeah, I'm not from here," replied stranger and rolled his dice. This time the stakes went to Red for second or third time. "Again! One of you starts. I'd raise to two million."
Round after round, emotions had started to fuel betting process, with Lady Luck, again jumping between gamblers as if she was sort of drunk table tennis' ball. However, sooner or later Red had to be pushed out of boundaries for normal friendly betting... Especially, when his luck, unknownlingly to him, had left him. "Holy mother of f-" It was Red, which lost his first bet against - so did Enzo. The Rheinlander had taken the hefty pool of thirty million credits. However, it was too late for Gallic mutt, as he got into the gambling tune. The stakes were rasing even more, from, first to twenty million credits. But then, it finally it rose to forty million credits per player as if in the blink of an eye. "So well... double? Fourty million!" It meant that winner would get one hundred and twenty million credits right away. "Damn, I have nothing more to bet..." exclaimed the mutt, biting his lip. "I can bet my ship plus five million credits."
The Rheinlander sighed a bit. "I'm not up to date with market prices, how much is your ship worth?"
Red leaned back in his chair, thinking aloud: "Hmmmm... three million for brand new... It makes thirteen with additional armor... Oh yes, overall cargo is also worth something... I have full hundred units of Nox. You should get seven thousands per unit for Nox in New Berlin." "Sounds good, sounds good. So, the bet is on!"
In the beginning, it immediatly went bad for Rheinlander, as he rolled two. Red got nervous as he noticed that Enzo hit the jackpot, as his dice clearly shown the full pack of six dots. "Now, only a tie can help..." But then, he ended up even worse, as big red single dot announced he would lose miserably nonetheless. It hit him after a while he lost possession of that Drone of his. "Oh come on, it is a damn joke!" "Huh, so I won? Let's just finish he-" "One more bet! One more! Bet!" screamed Red, still looking at this grim red dot on his dice. "Fair enough," said Enzo, pretty amused at the moment. "Lets see if Red can win his ship back." The grin on his face was a grim reminded for fuzzy Gaul that it might end up even worse. Especially when he had no money. "Sounds interesting, what's the bet?"
Red was quite confused at the moment. He had nothing with him, even questioning himself on how to return to Kusari without ship. But then, he got an idea. A very terrible idea. "Well... I have nothing... except for... Myself." "That means, if I win, Enzo got the ship, I got you, and that means I would have to feed you and stuff?" "Aye seems fair a little pet!" This remark instantly resulted in Red frowning upon him. "Right then lets get this underway!"
First to throw was Enzo, dropping medicore three, which was followed by another three thrown by the Rheinlander. "Well Red," said the latter. "It's your turn now."
The dice was rolling for some time, but then got stuck in place. In the first time, Red had wanted to jump up... But then, he realized the dice was showing way worse score than previous players. "Oh my God, no no no no no... IT'S AN EFFIN JOKE!" "So you defintely lost... Well, time to make a reroll between me and Enzo!" It did not bother Gallic mutt anymore, since he, some sort, lost himself and now the fate was deciding if he should go to... "Ha! I won!" exclaimed Enzo, winning with strong six, beating for sure the number made by Rheinlander. "Looks like I owe Red, cash, cargo and his ship as well!" "Crap," exclaimed Rheinlander. "It was as great game, but... Now I need a damn job... Anyone would like to hire me...?" "So, Anki owner, what's you name?" asked Enzo. "Sotha Sil." For Red, it sounded anything but Rheinlandish name. "Pretty, I will contact you then! Off you go for a moment. Expect a message shortly." The job broker with some satisfaction on his face claimed all the plastics on the table. Sotha left the table, nodded to two other players and left to his Anki - in a short moment, visibly leaving the Barrier Gate. Enzo, after being smiling upon his victory, turned to Red. "Uh... Um... What I'm... going to do then Enzo?" the Gaul asked, a bit worried about his future and further shipments. It was the turn he had not been expecting: from a friendly game into losing himself into gambling and even pushing it to the wholly new levels of danger - making himself as a bet. "Now dear friend," Enzo leaned back in his chair, mischeviously looking at Red. "I would recommend resting at the flat in New Tokyo. Don't mention a thing to Miss Arashi I would hate to have a Kusarian Lady with contacts after me. Are we clear?" "Granted, I will So, what are you going to do with me now?" asked hybrid, now being worried as it had sounded like sort of threat from the one who owned his life. "Honestly I have no idea but I imangine not much will change I have no intrest unlike the sniffers to keep slaves." "Oh?" "Or pets." "Now," groaned Red. "That was quite rude!"
Enzo laughed at that comment. "Well, keep the ship consider it a gift. So far, everything is in order... For now." Enzo left the room, leaving his fuzzy contractor and friend with sort of grim situation. Great, what the hell should I tell Myako now?
