The players which could really use some help with their RP quality won't even walk past this thread as most not even visiting the forum or\and give no f's about it. And I'm 100^100% sure that none would try to search forums for those names you're throwing around here to read some stone-age RP. It's nonesence. If you want to help go apply for Angels or whatever and educate people in space.

if only we could
I'm rather new here, and got lots to learn before I can be an angel. But I love helping others on both the boards and in game when I can.
Being an Angel does help out new players but creating good and interesting characters helps the entire server, high standards give folks something to aspire to which benefits us all in the long run.

lol.
I guess they don't need to read the rules either? Nobody cares, right?
If they genuinely care - they will look for references. And sorry, no, I can't join the Angels and be a 24/7 hotline for help.

I think it's more referring to people who are TRYING to develop a character, or are doing their hardest. Or have developed one already.
I'd comment about Volker Koch. The character is very detailed and carefully made so that everything fits. He appears realistic, almost as if he's been created by one of the famous realism writers from the 19th century. Alright, I might be exaggerating, but... We even know what he is allergic on! I remember he was a coffee addict too and that his picture in the BDM personnel database had a coffee stain. I really liked that, and I don't know why the page has been changed and remade in the style that was nice when it was started by the Core, but is becoming mundane.

i.e. the "Why?" instead of the "Who?"
To me a good character is one who's ingame actions aren't controlled by obvious OORP motivations and sentiments, like bragging about the player's PvP fighting skills, attempts to intimidate, bully, and annoy for their the player's own amusement, showing off English writing skills and game experience, protecting your oorp-friend on an irp-enemy character, hoping your oorp-enemy on an irp-ally character dies, attempts of OORP intimidation via their community influence, denigrating people for their lack of such advantages, or for more interpersonal reasons towards other players.
Good characters are characters who act according to how the character would behave towards other characters, and not according to the feelings that the player has towards the player behind the other character they're facing.
I've often seen players say "remember there is a player/person behind every character", especially when it comes to shooting or not shooting them.
I think that's a very destructive approach, and people who say it don't understand the full implications of it.
What it also means is that when you do shoot someone, you do it because you want to shoot the player behind the character, and that when you do shoot someone, it's personal. It means that when you do shoot (and the people who say it certainly do shoot people), you do it because you want to shoot the player, and not the character.
The better approach is to act out your character towards other characters in a realistic way, so it's clear that when you shoot someone, and also when you get shot yourself, it's role play, and not personal.
