Well, most of the people in discovery don't know this bug and actualy developers know this bug. I wanted to remind this bug it also affects pvp balance
This bug only happens to vanilla capital ships, it was happening on snubs too but it is fixed.
It is about components, Fighters also had components (like when you receive too much hit ship wings falling off) and missiles was dealing %150-%200 more damage to ships
But Fighters are fixed, dont know when it happened but they dont take x2 more dmaage from mines or missiles anymore.
However, Cruisers/Battleships still taking x2 more damage from missiles/mines
e.g Liberty Dreadnought : If you hit its engines with missile, it will deal x2 more damage. I tested it on singleplayer and discovery server when you hit with 4 Battleship Missile it will do 1.600.000 to 2.200.000 Damage. However Basic Missiles only does 180k damage and 180kx4=720k Damage. About Fighter Mines, nuclear mine can do 40k damage to its engines. However this ship takes less damage from front. If you hit with 4 BS missile to front, you will deal 300-500k damage. Center of the ship takes 1M damage from 4 Missile
Cruiser Missiles can do max 1.2M damage More Component = More damage you will deal
Liberty Dreadnought - stronk front armor - medium side armor - weak engines
Bretonia Battleship - medium armoured engines - front armor is medium - medium armor at sides of the ship.
Kusari Battleship - strong front armor - weak engines - sides are medium armoured
Rheinland Battleship - medium armor at front - stronk side armor - weak engines
Didn't check how much damage battleship can take from 2 Nova Torpedo
Liberty Siege Cruiser - stronk front armor - weak side armor - medium armored engines < 2 Nova Torpedo can deal %30-50 hull damage if you hit sides or front its like nova torp deals 500k damage instead of 328k
Rheinland Cruiser - medium-weak front armor - medium side armor - stronk engine armor < 2 Nova Torpedo can deal %20-30 Hull damage
Kusari Destroyer - same with rm cruiser < 2 Nova Torpedo can deal %20-30 hull damage
Bretonia Destroyer - stronk engine armor - medium side armor - medium-weak front armor < 2 Nova Torpedo can deal %25-35 hull damage
Before Damaging Tokugawa Engines with 4x Kusari Cruiser Missiles BEFORE
After Damaging Tokugawa Engines with 4x Kusari Cruiser Missiles AFTER
DAMAGE: 1.144.800
x4 Kusari Cruiser Missile Base Damage: 420.000
x1 Kusari Cruiser Missile Base Damage: 105.000
As you can see x4 Kusari Cruiser Missile did %22 Damage to Tokugawa engines. It should do %8 damage.
So, target these areas to deal huge damage with Nova Torpedo/Mines/BS Missile/Cruiser Missile
Only happening on vanilla ships.
Also some of the longest ships don't take damage from Missiles;
Valor: If you hit front of the ship with missile,it deals no damage because Valor don't have any component because The missile explosion needs to reach the centre of the ship (which is very far from the front) or of a component in order to do damage
Arbiter: Same with valor
Nephilim: Same with valor
Ranseur: same with valor but still there is chance to damage this ship from front with missiles its like %80-90 chance to damage
Redemption: Same with valor
Added ships have stronk armor to all sides, they don't take extra damage from aoe weapons
ONLY AOE (AREA OF EFFECT) WEAPONS CAN DEAL EXTRA DAMAGE
Like i said it also affects the pvp balance. Fixing this would be great or give component to all capital ships and aoe damage to all battleship weapons about giving component to capital ships;
Valor: Stronk front armor - medium armor at sides - weak engines < this means all battleship weapons will do less damage to front - normal damage to sides and high damage to engines.
and I meant: More components to engines and less component to front
I can imagine it would be lots of work to add components to to all capital ships, but I would enjoy this solution the most. It would be a good feature for the capital ship gameplay and make duels and battles even more interesting.
One thing to note is that the engines on any ship, be they fighter or Capital class, are by their very nature of function always going to be weak, the thrust *has* to come out from somewhere and that somewhere is going to be vulnerable to a well aimed missile/torpedo.

Yes it only happens on listed ships above. You can't do 2M damage to Ranseur-Legate-Valor-Redemption-Nephilim engines with 4 Missile. <- These ships also takes no damage from missiles.
