"The Story of Hanz Strausse" - Visions Name: Hanz Strausse
Origin: Planet New Berlin
Age: 24
Occupation BDM - Büro Der Marineinterlligenz
The sound of the hangar doors opening. It was almost like the great metallic door complained as it did open up slowly.
As Hanz was getting ready for another patrol, he looked around at the empty room, it was almost like he had been sleeping for years.
The dust was all settled in each and every corner of his room. The metallic smell of the inside of the station, all the strobing lights all around almost felt like a sci-fi movie.. "Hell who was he trying to fool. What is sci-fi nowadays anyways."
He reached out for his jacket and started to walk towards the dining room, the place all the pilots on "Schatten Research Facility" did eat breakfest together and have a little chit-chat before they went out on their duties.
It did almost feel like a butterfly effect, the mornings was always the same, only a little change day by day, he took a deep breath, he could smell the morning coffee was almost ready, he had a slight smile on his face.
Hanz picked up his strudels and his coffee, he then found a place to sit in peace and quiteness.. That's what he thought at least, all the other pilots on the station began to arrive and picked up their breakfest. They we're like cornered animals, out of control.. Rushing around to get strudels and coffee and what not that may be..
Hanz was the more relaxed kind of person, he was always up before the other pilots. Felt like he had all the time in the world..
After he had finished eating he went on to the hangar to find his beloved "Fafnir"
The smell of MOX hanging in the air together with rust and dust.. The hangars needed better treatment, but then again on the other side they couldn't just let anyone on to the Facility, "Schatten" was a real well hidden research facility which was mostly used by the "BDM" - Büro Der Marineintelligenz.
Only the pilots and scientists working on the station and on the Battleship "Koblenz" knew the exact location, not only was it well hidden in the nebula "Westerwald" it was also protected by a strong and well packed minefield.
The ladder to his Fafnir was already set up and ready for him, Hanz was really happy for his bomber, he had have a lot of memories in it, not only in the "BDM" but also when he was in the Rheinwehr. That was long before the Büro, but he had put a lot of effort into his bomber, he had hunted plenty of Unioners and Hessians, made their life difficult for the benefit of the Rheinland civilians.
The patrol was one of those silent days where not much happened, he made a routine tour around Frankfurt, New Berlin and Stuttgart. Hanz did meet up with another captain who was commanding a gunboat The "Lichtenau." After a while when they had patroling around and entered another Nebula, Hanz did feel a little unwell, felt like something was wrong, not knowing what it was he decided to return to Schatten, but at the same moment he was about to inform the "Lichtenau" had disappeared, leaving Hanz alone and confused in his own mind.. One sight he was glad to see when he returned was the beautifull Schatten station..
In the days after the event that had happened, Hanz did nearly not get any sleep at all.
He couldn't stop thinking about the vision he had. He didn't say it to anyone in the beginning, he thought it would be better to keep it for himself.
Hanz did go to medical treatment for some weeks before he was ready to go on, with his normal day duties.
Seconds, minutes, hours and days passed by in the medical lab, Hanz ensured that nothing was wrong with him, even though he still did have nightmares about it. He went back on patrol duty and did go through the normal everyday checks.
"It's always the same, can't you say anything new for a change" Hanz was getting tired of the same robotic woman voice talking to him, everytime when he visited the med bay. Mostly of all because it reminded him of his own mother, he always looked at a picture of her before going to bed, and after waking up. Hanz did miss her alot. He never really talked about his parents to anyone, he mainly thought about them at every start and every end of a day.
Hanz decided to go for another patrol, this time closer to the nebula where this event had happened.
Hanz looking at the Nebula he did see the visions in
The truth is.. He never did enter it again, when he was floating close to it, he didn't want to go in there alone.
He met up with the flottillenadmiral of the "BDM" his name was "Stefan Hofmann." Hanz went on a little patrol getting some information about what happened to Dresden, and that the "Red Hessians" had taken over Liepzig Station.
After a little while on the patrol he told the admiral about what he experienced a couple of weeks back. "Stefan" didn't really seem to be too bothered about it, he just said something about going to the med bay and have a look, and that was exactly what Hanz had been doing. Hanz had hoped for a little more than just a pity answer to say the least, but then again.. What could the admiral possibly now of all this, since he hadn't been on the patrol with Hanz.
After spliting up with the admiral, Hanz did return to battleship strausberg to think things through, for him it felt like a piece of a puzzle was missing.
"The Story of Hanz Strausse" - And so it begins...
The day after Hanz did have a day off. He was walking around i circles inside his room, he was still in doubt about all the recent events, he wondered if some of the others maybe had experienced the same. Hanz thought about that maybe some of the new guys have had the same sightings or strokes maybe.
He went around to all the new recruits and also some ex-personel, to ask some questions, he did not say it directly to them, but rather make it a little more discreet. None of them had really seen or heard of it before, some people mentioned "Stress" and told Hanz that you could hallucinate if that happened. Nothing Hanz didn't already know, but still he thought about the missing link.
Later the same day he was going back to his room, he was walking inside a bubble of his own thoughts when he suddenly saw the archive door stood wide open, it was like it screamed "come closer." he stood a little time thinking it over and over again if he really should enter and sniff around for a moment.
He then walked inside the archive and closed the door behind him, he looked around to see if there was anyone in there, but there wasn't. Hanz did go through some of the drawers. That was when he found a document with a "TOP SECRET" mark on it, he took it up and looked at it, Hanz was very interested in what the document might contain, but at the same time was he a little scared of what he might find, he looked at the document for some time.
He walked up to the door and locked it. He had now opened the document, it showed something about prototype engines, and letters to high commanders. To him it made no sense, he didn't know what the letters was about. He sniffed around a bit on the computer and its archive, he found pictures of blue transparent looking ships, he had heard about the Nomad war before, heard tales about these ships, and infected personel. Hanz didn't really know what to believe of these documents, he then finally put it all back and closed the computer.
Weeks, even months had passed by without Hanz thinking about what he had read about in the documents, he had actually just got promoted to "Spezialagent" Hanz did now have the authorization to go outside Rheinland, but he never had any missions outside of Rheinland system. He wanted to go on more complicated mission, like spy missions or assasinations. He was filled with an inexplicable hatred without even knowing the real reasons for it. Maybe it was the doubts coming back again, maybe he was stressed, whatever it was Hanz kinda enjoyed it at some point. People didn't notice anything, he was good at hiding things from others.
His hate for the Unioners and Hessians had grown more substantial by the time, it was unclear for Hanz why he had become so full of hatred, he constantly felt like something wanted to tear him apart, an outrageous anger had taken over. Hanz wanted to flee from it all, lay it all behind him but knew he couldn't, he knew he had a responsebility to take care off. He wanted to know more, so what Hanz had in mind was to "infiltrate" the Büro from the inside by aiming for a promotion within the ranks of the researchers or better known as "Kommissariat." He knew exactly what they were doing, and what they did study. Hanz knew exactly where to begin...
Hanz had travelled to meet his superior in the far reachers of Omicron. Hanz had never been so far away from home before. That part of space did look far from friendly. Even though he thought of this desolate space as unfriendly, he kinda liked it out there in the emptiness. He met up with "Stefan" close to Freeport 11 where they were waiting for an Order pilot to leave the Freeport, so they could assasinate him away from the others. They had made a deal with "The Core." They would help removing The Order threat.
Hanz and the Flottillenadmiral met a "Core" member named "Achilles" they joined up with the core member and did a little patrol to Omicron Minor, where they met a trader supplying The Order Hanz got the order to terminate the threat, so they did together with core member. They spotted two members of the "Commune" who was not exactly friendly. Hanz, Stefan, and Achilles followed them to a jumphole that was leading to the Omicron Mu system, Hanz was ordered to engage cloak and enter the system to see what was on the other side. Hanz entered Omicron Mu, there were nothing but silence. Hanz enjoyed the slight time he had in the system before he was ordered back, the two bandits were no where to be found.
On the way back they spotted a shadow close to planet Toledo. Achilles and Hanz never seen it before, since it was Hanz first real assignment outside Rheinland. Stefan didn't seem surprised, he had seen it before. Achilles planned on pulling it back since it was just left there, and mostly all of the ship was still functionable.
Hanz did recieve some information and was ordered back to the Battleship Bellona. He didn't hear from the admiral for some time and wondered what they were doing out there. He decided to go sleep for some hours..
When he did wake up again he was looked around confused, he had forgot about being onboard the Bellona. He didn't really have any agenda so Hanz decided to go look at the cantina/bar. He ordered something to drink and a snack before heading out into the desolate space again. Hanz remembered when he was back at Schatten station what he had seen in the archives. Without having a clue that Hanz actually did find himself in the middle of a Nomad world, he went out in the search for them, he wanted to see them with his own eyes. He thought that the Omicrons were the perfect place for such beings to find them.
After flying for a while Hanz had his eyes wide open, he saw a blue/purpleish figure in the distance, it had a perfect match with description of the "Nomads" as they were called. He soon found out that they were aggresive, the nomad started to open fire upon Hanz Wraith. He did return the fire when suddenly another group of nomads were coming towards him, he was about to flee when he saw another group of Zoners coming to his aid, after intense fighting against the nomads Hanz hoped to find a piece of the foreign ships to bring home for research, but with no luck. He had to go back to the battleship empty handed. But one thing was for sure, Hanz now knew that they existed, he didn't know what their purpose was, or why they were here. But he knew they were here for a reason. Hanz returned to the battleship looking out of the window towards Freeport 11 where he had been close to earlier. He thought about Stefans words about a possible promotion for joining him on this assignment. Hanz plans were going exactly as he hoped for. This place was Far From Friendly...
