when an object hits another object no matter how big or small it leaves damage... The amount of damage in comparison is small depending on the size. Since CD's are relatively small they do small amounts of damage. This is basic Physics. Also, take into consideration this is a mini rocket propelled into space at great speeds... you really think it does no damage???
If you apply this logic universally, then people should be pancaking on the side of larger ships instead of throwing them around like paper airplanes. It also discounts the logic of shields absorbing energy by using selective application of the argument.

It's a light fighter. It's not meant to withstand direct combat. There may be ways to work out that issue but your suggestions aren't any of them. Not to mention that some LFs are literally metal strapped to an engine, it's an obvious risk and not something that can be realistically rectified.
dude you are saying as if you are in a magical land. While you may think most people dont do it, the actual fact is that they do. They want the blue and it doesn't matter if someone is annoying or not.
Its also the future where a ships hull isn't made out of pape. CDs shouldn't be able to do damage to ships but they do, and people tend to abuse it pretty well.
In terms of nyx's post I have to strongly disagree because the way you perceive speed for LFs doesn't make sence.
if you are in cruise, you are fast. In pvp combat, you are not and its damn near impossible to shake a bank off and cruise when all people are doing is CDing the crap out of you. The moment you charge, you are a sitting duck. A good pvper can just sit constantly behind a lf and keep pressuring it, focusing it to dodge and thrust. Thrusting is the same speed. The only thing the lf has an advantage is the speed of the TURN.
Super fast light fighters dont exist like you describe and quite frankly, no, dont just say "its your fault"
All im pointing out is the abuse of CDs while a lf cannot already do anything in a gank situation.

I'm fairly sure that some of the best ships to fly in a group fight are still light fighters. As long as you abuse their ridiculous strafing speed and responsiveness you're practically invulnerable. Provided you're flying one of the smaller ones (or something like a Scimitar that has regens for days).
If you're complaining while flying an Arrow: the Arrow really isn't designed to be useful in PvP. It's absurdly fast but it's also huge and has a paper hull. You should expect to die in it.

The same way ships like the Civilian Carrier are balanced. It's a niche ship that's unusually good at -something- for its class (the Carrier offers something unique compared to other civilian ships, and the Arrow is the fastest ship in the game), but is otherwise very poorly statted.
If we were to add a ship with 500 m/s cruise, 300 m/s thrust, a miniscule shield, little to no hull and no guns or cruise disruptors, made just for people who want to go really fast, would you complain about that being poorly balanced too?

I find little to no cohesion in your argument whatsoever. Yes, this is the future, armor is stronger. But guess what? So are the weapons being used against said armor.
To further counter you, the arrow's basically hull plates fixed into an engine. Light fighters like the scimitar are quite good if you can bother using them properly, just like virtually every other ship can be. Though this is mostly subjective.
To continue in countering you I could say that your perception of how light fighters should be doesn't make any sense in any realm of reasonable thought. Cruise disruptors pop, if you want to dabble into physics, a projectile moving at those speeds and then popping would most definitely cause some amount of damage.
If you're taking light fighters that aren't meant to fight into combat or just not using them properly, then yes, it is your fault.

By fast you mean it turns fast.
What I would like to counter though is that usually larger craft carry more guns on them. Perhaps something heavier. Would you possibly consider the Arrow to be able to mount Class 7 guns?
Even the carrier offers a few things than just 1 specific thing.
Also your example doesnt make sense here. Again.... the Arrow is not "fast" compared to other light fighters. It TURNS faster.
It has the same speed
It's larger than most
Has the least amount of guns

You are literally saying it is my fault for stopping.
Becasue just FLYING would get me into a situation.
Rather than telling me my thoughts are dumb, consider what you are saying.

That's what faster means. Every time someone refers to a ship as being faster, they mean turn speed.
