Candy Savage is the illegitimate son of an anonymous casino entertainer from Planet Houston and an unknown father. In 789, before his first birthday, he was purchased from an orphanage by two coloured middle aged men who, despite all their efforts in marriage, could not produce children. Candy's legal parents were Eugene and Sheldon Savage (né Schitt), and they were the ones to name him so.
Candy had a relatively happy childhood. He had a roof, food, and went to school. He often hanged out with the boys, as advised by his parents, and was one of the best at sports. However, he was not relieved from troubles, and his came in high school.
When Candy was a few months from graduating, his parents found out that he had a girlfriend. They scolded him for that, but as that brought no fruit, they decided to speak with the girl's father, who happened to be a professor at Candy's school. They had a glance at his schedule and waited for him in the classroom. But, as they were already relatively old, they did not see well, and thus did not realize it was a wrong classroom. And so they waited. And waited. And got bored. But, still being in blooming love, they could wait even longer together, so they closed the door.
The one who opened it, a few minutes later, was Candy's professor, who then let his class enter.
The students were very confused to see two the old men on the professor's desk do things that one would not expect two old men to do at all, let alone on a professor's desk. The professor himself was infuriated by their vandalization of his workplace, which he was trying so hard to keep. Candy, one of the students, was both confused and infuriated, but mostly embarrassed, and in an onslaught of the combination of the three, he immediately ran from school and from home. He spent all his savings to have his ID counterfeited so it said he was 18, and then joined the Liberty Navy. His aim was to break off with his past and start anew, and to never become anything alike to his parents. His motto was one word: masculinity.
The military routine put pressure on him, but his will let him overcome it. Over time he became a firearms expert, but his passion, much closer and more personal, was boxing. It made him popular on the LNS Mississippi, where he served, which allowed him to eventually become a deck manager. During the war with Rheinland, he was promoted to a transport captain in the logistics division. He shipped military supplies across Liberty home territory and defended his ship from random pirates numerous times. When the LNS Alaska, a Liberty carrier built in 814 and heavily damaged after a clash with the Gallic Royal Navy in 823 in California, was hastily repaired and rearmed in 824, she was renamed to Chattahoochee and Candy was appointed for captain. The state of the ship, whose powerplant had been damaged and whose strike craft bays were repurposed to house an auxiliary powerplant, is not deemed fit for a frontline vessel, so the Chattahoochee is currently tasked with keeping the home safe. Whether her auxiliary plant will be enough if the main fails again, is a question that will hopefully never be answered.
Candy is currently unmarried, not because of a lack of appetite, but rather the contrary. After or before boxing, and not uncommonly during, his other favourite pastime is philandering. Although he likes such liberate women, he despises being called the son of one.
