My name is Abbie Eaton and I would like to fly for the Liberty Navy. These application things twist my stomach into about two dozen knots, so I hope you don't mind if I make a mistake or two.
It all started about two months ago. I was looking on the job board at Cambridge University and saw a small advertisement for the Liberty Navy. I just graduated with a degree in Astro Psychology. I know that sounds really boring, but it was amazing studying the neural degradation of long term space travel.
I was using the pilots at Gateway Shipping as test subjects. Now this is the part you will like, Mr. Buchanan, the boss at Gateway, he let me work summers as a security pilot. He paid for my flight training and everything. He hired this guy who was a Mandalorian and he taught me how to fly. The Mandalorian was nice, but he scared me. He said he had killed lots of people and I knew he was telling the truth, but not in a bragging way.
You are probably wondering why a Bretonian wants to join the Liberty Navy. Well, there are two reasons. The first is my dad, he still lives on Planet Cambridge in the house where I grew up, but he worries about me and is always calling me on my personal comm link. I love my dad but he's driving me nuts. I guess working in Liberty would give me some distance from home and also for my dad to get use to me not being around so much.
The second reason is the Liberty Navy saved my life and the other pilots in our Gateway convoy. We were attacked in the California system by Lane Hackers. Mr. B radioed for help from two Navy pilots in New York. They arrived as fast as they could and defended us against the Hackers. Their flying was incredible. The Hackers retreated and the Navy pilots escorted us all the way to Manhattan. They were so nice, polite, and helpful. They weren't like the BAF pilots thinking they were all that.
My reasons probably sound silly. I guess I feel like I should repay you somehow. If I get accepted, I was hoping to rent a small condo on Planet Erie. Let me know if that's ok.
