"Hmm. I would, of course, prefer parts made specially for me. They should have durable internals due to... harsh work conditions. As you may heard, i sometimes participate in ground operations as well as fleet operations, thus i am sometimes in thick of "heat". Due to that i would not want things break in the middle of an op. I am aware costs and time it needs will rise, however i believe it will worth the wait and increased cost. Do it once, do it proper." Richard paused for a second to take a breath and then continued. "Is there anything else i need to know or we need to dicuss about?"
Rio makes some notes on her device and gives the Admiral another smile. "Since it sounds like you came to a decision and because of the fact that you already own an artificial arm we can skip the psychological test and the interview. Unless you wish for them to happen."
She makes some more notes and checks something else. "Then we would need a sample of your skin to start with creation of the synthetical one, and then.... we have to wait a bit for your arm to me manufactured. But that should be all for now."
Planet Yuma, New Astarte, 58 days after the meeting, 23 hours since start of operation, 1920 Crayter Standard Time
Richard slowly opened his eyes and waited for the narcotic's effect the doctors gave to him to wear off as he gained his bearings over time. He was stripped of his uniform and wore a simple black T-shirt. After a brief moment he started to feel his arms and legs, as well as a slow loading screen he saw with his right eye right in front of him. Just in 5 seconds the loading screen went off and his newly replaced cybernetic right eye started to "see". It worked as it gave a real time, ultra sensitive and responsive HUD in the place of where his right eye supposed to be and shown Richard what he was supposed to see if he had a real right eye. The only giveaway was the very thin red dot in the center of the eye. Then he saw a doctor approaching to him. "Admiral Richard, it is great to see you awake and finally truly seeing with both of your eyes i assume! Wonderful! Take your time before starting to move your newly replaced arm and leg. You may feel some imbalance at first as you are used to added weight of your old cybernetic parts and you had your own unique center of mass because of that. Now you may overdo things as those added weights does not exist until you get used to your new weight to power ratio. We will not allow you to have any sharp objects meanwhile." Richard started to inspect his new arm and leg. Bent them slightly and back and then carefuly strecthed and back. Did some slow movements in the bed. Then he realised lack of mechanical sounds from those parts. With the aid of newly developed nanite tech and modern synthetics, he looked "normal" instead of a cyborg now. "So, doctor, i take it the operations were successful." "Yes, Admiral. Although they took almost a whole day, we confirmed your body accepted the synthetics and your eye working great." As he showed a camera that directly took the visuals from Richard's cybernetic eye to him. "We observe what you see with your right eye from here, sir. Do not worry, we will not see you in... compromising positions." "Now, please slowly sit on the bed first, and then stand up" Richard did as he told. Sitting was not a problem but he felt off while standing. " That must be what you described about feeling off balance, it is not a big concern however it feels off at the moment as you said." "We mostly made your parts internals from fibers and other flexible materials, to not hinder the agility yet be durable, it wont resist gunfire mind you, yet can work under harsh conditions. So we achieved elegant and lightweight solution to your needs." "Anyways, lets continue, now please jump and then walk a bit." Richard jumped, perhaps a little higher than the doc expected, however he had some troubles to have a balanced land. He landed like an amateur and then walked at the end of the room. "Very well, Admiral. I see you are making progress, now that you can walk and jump, please follow me." "Where is Doctor Umeda?" "She will arrive shortly, we informed her that your operation is complete and you are stable. We will go to lobby to wait for her."
