The air of the St. James Resturant was filled with the sound of music. A light, classical tune that stemmed from a Piano in a nearby corner of the room. A polished bar where drinks were served by some of the finest cocktail specialists in the city. The tables were mostly empty, with a few of the social elite seated by the windows, chatting amoungst themselves.
Lieutenant Alexander Albrecht wandered into the upper class resturant, his blue dress uniform marking him as both a junior officer and a member of the Primary fleet, although his service awards were few. He was directed to the heart of the room, a sizable round table, which was already set, awaited his arrival and he ordered a bottle of water while he waited for his guest to arrive. Intent on paying back his debt to the strange woman he had met. He remembered his fathers advice, and made a point to bring a single rose along, in the hope that it might curry some favour with what could very well turn out to be, a woman scorned.
It wasn't long before Emma Melcer had arrived, clad in a hastily-purchased black dress and light makeup, having crossed her arms and put on a look of boredom for only a few moments before one of the staff attended to her. As she was led to her table, the affluent atmosphere of the building became very clear to her, and she couldn't help but wonder if she was under-dressed. Even as a regular city-goer, never before had she enjoyed the opportunity to dine in such class, nor did she garner much of a desire for it, but tonight was different. Tonight, she had someone to meet, although to say she was enthusiastic about it would be an overstatement.
Reaching the table in the room's center, Emma laid eyes on the Lieutenant for the first time in person. "Good evening." she said, though it sounded more like a statement of fact than a proper greeting. She took her seat briskly, eyeing her host as she spoke. "This is definitely a few steps beyond 'a drink'. You sure you can afford this?" A potent question in her mind, as the establishment appears a pretty expensive place to dine for someone working off a debt.
''If I could not, I wouldn't have chosen. You were invited here to enjoy yourself, not worry about my finances.'' He smiled at her ''So enjoy yourself. I'm sure you can manage that.'' he said as he poured her a drink. ''I also believe that now would be a good time to give you this'' he said carefully handing the single rose over. ''It is simply a thank you for coming, do not think too much of it.'''
She glances between him and the rose for a moment before accepting the flower, setting it on the table close to her. "Thanks... props to you for trying to make a good impression." It seems she isn't entirely convinced he's being up front with her, but she doesn't appear linger on it as she settles in, taking a brief survey of the menu. She looks back up to Albrecht. "Am I right in guessing this isn't your first time here, slick?"
''It is actually'' he said looking at the menu''for...obvious reasons.'' He felt like the prices would be something more akin to pirates in space would ask more than a restraunt on Manhatten. ''But it's fine, it's about time I took a break, and you need to stop worrying. Tell me'' he said trying to change the subject '' where are you from?''
