Doc had spent a good deal of time on Med Force One of late. It was there in his quarters that he did a lot of work for the Consensus when he wasn't in surgery or making his rounds. At times, he was just too tired to make a trip back to the Estate but, with a baby grand piano and large quarters, he was at home there as well. With a glass of Scotch, he checked his messages at the end of a day. His face lit up when he saw Alessa's message. It has been awhile he thought to himself but it made him miss her more. She was in his thoughts every day.
"Dahlin', I am currently in my personal chambers on Med Force One but will be back to Tombstone tomorrow after work. I hope that you are well and......I miss you."
He sipped his Scotch, sat back and smiled. Yes, he did miss her as his feelings for her had grown.
Unannounced her small personal craft touched the platform of John's residence. Alessa wore a red showy dress, reaching to her feet it accented her tight body. She couldn't await to see John, therefore she tried to retract herself a little on the flight and decided to surprise John with a beautiful outfit. "I think he'll like the red one. Oh, I need to get some make up and style my hair." Indeed, she was succesful in supporting her beauty, but she wasn't quite succesful in retracting herself. Nonetheless she took a deep breath and moved towards John's resident and already started having glittering eyes.

Alessa was a busy woman and he had no idea when she was to return. She was a worker and he found that to be attractive. Her work ethic, her intellect and her natural beauty made her something special. When she was around, he didn't think of Midori. It was quite a soothing feeling to him really and it helped ease his depression. He was slowly pacing in his large living room as he was reviewing some notes he had worked on with Nerva Regis. He was in an evening robe and settled in for the evening after a light supper. The kitchen still smelled of herbed fish. In one hand was a sheet of paper, the other he held a glass of Scotch.
Upon his face were his reading glasses and his hair was let down. When he turned to make another pace, he noticed Alessa standing in the entryway to the room. For a moment, he stood in silent shock.
She was beautiful, more so than when he last saw her and that said a lot. His first word was his first reaction, a kind but surprising, "Alessa." He then raised the hand with the paper in it.
"I was just going over some notes......" He then walked toward her, stopping a couple of steps before her. A small table near them was where he leaned over to set down his drink and his notes.
He then stood close enough to put his hands on her sides and look her in the face. "Dr. Alessa Samson you are absolutely radiant this evening."
He continued to look her over, closing his eyes with a light smile and inhaling deeply through his nose. "You even smell lovely too." He then gave her a kiss.
Standing again before her, he looked at himself. "Do forgive me, Dahlin' but I was not expecting company. Can I get you a drink? Something to eat perhaps or a dance?"
Alessa was pleased by the reaction, gently kissing him. The trust she felt about him had surprised her already multiple times. It felt like they had known each other for a long time. Looking at him, seeing him standing there and offering her a drink made Alessa thinking about a future together with him. He triggered certainly feelings she was missing so much, but surprisingly even stronger. She entirely went over the missing of her husband, her first love in life. For a moment she seemed to be lost in mind. "I, I, hello John." Alessa softly laid her hand an John's chest and kissed him once, more emotional than before. "I am open for a drink, my...darling." She moved on his side and huddled against his shoulder.

He had no idea what she wanted but right now that didn't seem to matter. He reached for the first thing he could find which was the bottle of Scotch he had served himself only a few minutes before. He filled a small glass that matched his and handed it to her. She was still on his shoulder but he turned enough to half face her. A soft smile crossed his face.
"You usually come here with Consensus business but...." He paused, looking at her dress. She was beautiful. So mesmerized by her was he that his defenses were totally down. He hadn't felt this since he was falling for Midori. Alessa's aura was more powerful.
He continued his statement. "......something tells me this is personal." It had to be. Her dress was lovely but revealing enough to want her.
He touched his glass to hers and took a sip. He found himself looking into her face. The warmth of her breath was on his face, the warmth of her body against him. His hand began exploring her curves. His eyes started to get wet as he gently spoke, "I know this is soon but, I find myself falling in love with you Alessa."
A lovely feeling went through Alessa, she was aware that it might be too early for such feelings, but she was also aware that these feelings were true. Looking into John's eyes Alessa could see her own future. She saw true happiness, something that usually went forgotten in most aspects. She saw her older self sitting side by side with John holding hands and watching the dusk on their piazza. Behind was a beautiful home made of old clinker with huge white windows. Back into reality Alessa smiled gently. "I love you, too, John." Both continued looking into eachothers eyes and slowly closing their lips to a kiss.

He began kissing her, placing his glass on a nearby end table. His hands found her waist and began exploring her curves. He had been alone too long and well, so had she. Somewhere during their embraces and kissing, he dimmed the lights of the large living room and turned the switch to the gas function of the fireplace. They found their way to a shag rug that lay before the hearth of the fireplace. They were totally into each other and would make love right before the fire.
After they finished, they laid together before the fire. Doc managed to get a blanket to cover themselves in. He lay on his side, his left hand and fingers caressing and kneading her skin. After another kiss, he started reminiscing a bit.
"I do not like this place the way I used to, " he began. "I built it for another time, for someone else and for a large family. Sadly, the latter never happened." He paused briefly in thought, "My eldest, Emiko, wants to find her own path and the twins pretty much live on Med Force One. I guess I only stay here for my laboratory. I did, after all, have it built to withstand orbital bombardment to protect my work."
He sighed. "Nope. It is not the home I envisioned years ago. It is now cold, the old flower beds and vegetable garden replaced by evergreen shrubs and well, the large family never happened." He paused briefly and finished, "That was then, however, this is now."
He then kissed her and cuddled up to her, keeping tight to her. Softly, he said to her, "Please do not ever leave me. This home so needs a lady's presence."
Alessa listened to John's monologue and she was fascinated. Each word was of a weight of its own. He was a deeply thoughtful man. "Yet, it is your home and I am sure there will be a time I can be on side entirely and forever." She started smiling and pinched his arm." "At least, if you want that." Alessa touched John's face once again and kissed him for a while. "I need to leave now. Sorry. The Antarctica will make its course to Omicron Delta today again. I am not sure, when we can see us again, but please let us call. I hope it won't take too long." Gently as John was, he only acted in honest and sympathy towards Alessa while she prepared her leaving. "I love you, Doctor Holliday."
Shutting the door both weren't aware that the hate, the war and the terrible suffer of others will make it impossible for them to kiss each for an eternal moment.
There were only the calls in the few silent moments both had. Deep and emotional calls, triggering their love towards each other, but also a feeling of despair never seeing each other again. Both were laughing often, but both were also crying often. It was one of the first things that brought them together. The responsibility for others, Valuing humanity more important than themselves, even if this would destroy themselves and carries them into sadness.
However, it was the war that started focussing its eye in the direction of Omega-49, the home-system of John, that will direct them to the next kiss.

The video chats were always pleasant and often soothing but the fact remained, he missed Alessa. Her presence with him made him feel whole and wanted. It had been some time since they lay together without anyone to bother them. He wanted to know so much more about her. Did she want kids? Would she accept his as her own? The questions were deep in number and thought.
In their last discussion, the tensions of Omega 49 and the presence of Bretonia had been most of the discussion. The meeting that was scheduled at his home was now forefront. While he didn't show it, he was worried.
"I am not sure what I got myself into," he explained to her, "but I invited people who just assume kill each other rather than work out a solution into my home and it will be just me here to deal with it." He would sigh, "I hope that I will not be needing a doctor myself after this."
He also went somber. "When this is over, I think we should make more time for each other. I mean, I know we are busy people but we also have enough competent staff to handle things. I have a nice, quiet, get-a-way on Erie that you would simply love where no one will bother us."
As always, he finished his conversation with, "I love you, Alessa. Hope to see you soon."
