In case someone wants to say that pressing Group Target key solves it, let me please disagree. Reasons:
1. Everybody can press it, making chaos in command chain and differences between skilled and noob factions even larger
2. Just makes xy players from our groop ask where that target is - almost every time
3. I like to use setmsg. It makes me feel I'm el boss there, which is funny for some players that know me.
Returning setmsg feature to group chat would make things a bit more even, so I guess we are all for that. We noobs need it and this community was not made of seal-clubbers, in compare to any other I saw.

Huh, Group Target key works perfectly if not better for me in my experience. The "X IS NOW GROUP TARGET" message that flashes up on the screen combined with a sound notification is much more visible in the chaos, and it also means the group chat can be used for people asking for help or assistance and targets won't get drowned out in messages.
Although just to clarify, I wouldn't be against /g1 and the like making a comeback.
If you want target location so desperately, just ask the current command to be expanded to include system and coordinates. Seeing no setmessages is actually much more enjoyable. There is a limit to seeing spammable engagement notice that has absolutely no effort behind it.

+1 (because it's good solution for snubs-only or caps-only battles)
But why isn't it like that already? Technical issues?
Unfortunately current simple and easy to use command can't say if target is for caps or snubs. Using it in mixed fleets makes cap or two focus fire on some poor snub, for example. Command is a command.
Maybe because no one thought of such feature at the time? Remember this, we didn't have time stamped docking messages until I requested it multiple times and it was added.
