Yo, I just arrived home. I'm baked af as well, but I will try to be as precise as possible;
Honestly, I didn't have anything as rivalry in my mind. I will explain you exactly why,
Since the creation of Samarran Raiders and the last moments of Commune, roleplaying that they have their place on Malta, we've never been anything close to a leading body of it or either NPC faction as a whole.
People will remember Samarran Raiders as the Sword of the Malta. We got that name from some oldschool OC players. Our story was simple: A group of pirates, exiled from some planet Samarra, being grateful to Maltese as they accepted them as their own people but under the condition to protect the Nation.
We partook in the first civil war of Malta when Contari Lance tried to overtake Malta from the hands of 101st. We in that situation simply protected the legally recognized body of Malta, against opposing inner force. Our mission, naturally, right?
Samarran Raiders existed until some 2013. Then, in end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, we rebooted as Commune. The Commune is a result of simply, something evolving through 3 years on the server. That " badass lolwut bunch of pirates" story couldn't work out anymore as, we found ourselves hitting into a wall of nothing, unless, trying to adapt further.
We had a need to be finally recognized as a serious group, and we under new name with some new fresh people approached Outcasts once again. It felt like beginning, the 101st was gone and our credibility was lost as in that period, player base began dropping and there was no people sitting in front of Malta like when server was 200/200 population in peak times.
We had again to "lick ass" in order to gain Outcasts' trust again and to be recognized as serious as we were as before and the whole atmosphere wasn't as friendly. We simply wanted to continue our thing and further develop it with the years. This time the Commune was representing as a more growing and independent organisation but the goals were:
- Serve the Nomads and expand their influence in Sirius
- Protect Maltese interest and further expand Cardamine routes
With some time passing, we've shown off what we truly want, as we were mistaken for some bunch that would make another uprising (back then it was generally one official group per NPC faction).
The rules changed throughout the years and you were then possible to have multiple official groups per NPC faction. This brought us to think of getting Outcast ID and IFF as, the Pirate ID became too nerfed and honestly, the new choice would allow us to further develop ourselves.
We proceeded to that and we even got our place in that Council thing, where all representatives of OC groups were together, discussing the movement of the NPC faction. However, we had only one representative and we only inRP wanted to ensure our place withnin Outcasts as legal citizen, nothing else.
It was agreed that we get couple of bases for very generous use such as, labs and our own hangars and levels. It allowed us to further develop our own thing. We did what we were supposed to, we defended Taus, we defended Omicrons. In the exchange, we had freedom to make our way to indepedence and even support to go indepedent.
In that moment, we got official but we were still tied to Malta, by wearing OC IFF. Due to irl reasons, I was required or more, I was neeeded to leave and solve my problems out. With me going away, Commune went away too and it eventually lost official status.
Some 6 months after, or 7 maybe, I got back on the request by old members of Commune to come and reboot the thing again. How there was no active official group and how Outcasts were more and more inactive. We encountered that the Order was neutraly rephacked to Outcasts and how they had no- fire agreement, while anything Nomad related was banned.
Since then, now it's some 3 months, I maybe saw 3-4 times NC loging and it was a lonely transport. We concluded that the faction is inactive and we saw our chance to regain ourselves. To bring back Malta and Outcasts in the glorious state we once left it, contrary to what it is now, honestly.
From this whole story, you can also see that there was never rivalry when it was up to us. We didn't had problem being treated as non Outcasts in Outcast player society, that we sticked to. However, the Commune evolved in pretty much indepedent organisation and the only logical thing for it to go for is Malta.
When it comes to Malta generally, we wished to establish ourselves there and bring back old things. When that would see the light of the day, we planned to establish an completely Outcast pure faction, to be leading body while, Commune could do it's own thing with Sirius.
That brings me to indies like Moonwalker. These people were asked many times by my side, to join me and form sort of old [212th] Maltese Navy. It was offered to be inRP established and funded by Commune.
Why? Because, there's a bunch of peoeple, having their Outcast capital ships, often accompanying us. One bright example of that would be LLH siege in Kansas.
It was purely Commune created operation and to ensure Commune's interests there but we wouldn't be able to do anything to the PoB without them. It is a tradition that goes back to the first moments when Outcasts indies begun liking us and we had our glorious Tau 23 and Omicron Gamma battles.
However, these people refused to do such thing, even with me offering completely ready background inRP and write up for the faction. They simply aren't interested in any faction, or simply doing this, as they are in some other factions and they keep their OC capital ships for fun.
And we are still up for this idea. This is what we decided to eventually do in this maybe our last attempt of any kind of revival. We agreed to put maximum effort.

Well I planned personally, contacting you regarding Nesrin Khan as well. I recall you encountering us in Delta last time. We have unfinished RP encounter from Uncharted Kusari.
Aside of that, you now know our goals completely. It depends on what you wish for.

What we can conclude from this thread is that there's a big issue with proper Outcast leadership.
I will probably work on trying to do something to solve this. Whether it be myself, or some kind of Council of Dons like before. The main reason i would make the claim for myself is because there seems to be no one or no group to really contest. And the commune i would be working with.
This would take a bit of time, as i would not want to undermine any potential contestants that have been trying to achieve this actively. However, wouldn't they have said something here by now? The only active individual i have heard of from NC is Foxglove, but i'm not sure what exactly he wants to do?
Anyways, it'll be fun and interesting to see how things work out.
