Ok, I want to disable the music in Freelancer, completely. However, I want to keep the ambient sounds from all the systems, anyone know a way I can do this?
Replace the music files with empty ones.... or... were the ambient sounds in the same files with the music... (I'm 2 lazy 2 look). If it's with the music... use a sound editor, see what you can get...
my two cents
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
I dunno why I didn't think of that before.. I navigated to the FL Audio folder and found the ambience files, which thankfully are seperate from the music files.. What I'm going to do is set up a mod for myself (specificly for Discovery) that removes music in space, except for certain occassions, and leaves music in the bars... but leaves ambient sounds.
Hmm... I have a crapload of soundbytes from a game called Battlecruiser Millenium Gold... it's a REALLY hardcore capital ship flight sim.. to the point where I didn't want to try and figure it out.
But like I said I have some really cool sound bites, and coupled with another modder who knows how to edit what sounds each UI Element uses I think a kick ass sound mod could be put together.. would mainly be for capital ship pilots... but cool none the less... Anyone interested?
Wait... can't you just go to options, then audio, amd then slide the "Music" bar all the way down, but leave the "Dialogue" and "Ambient" bars wherever you want them? That's what I do. Unless you're talking about somother thing, because going to options would seem to be the most obvious answer for me.
Unfortuantely no :( the way freelancer is programmed it treats ambient and music as the same thing and sticks it under the same slider.. which sucks because I hate the FL music when playing MP and it really makes me miss out on the kick ass abmient sounds.
if the music and ambient files are separate, just move the music folder to another directory, it SHOULD let you keep playing even if it cant find the music files as long as they are in the freelancer directory
@Ghost Pilot - lmao...and what about all the stuff I do like? :P
After a good amount of searching and listening to all the sounds in FL.. I weeded out the ones I don't like and disabled them with a .no extension... duplicated some to replace others.. all said and done I think I've weeded out all the music I *dont* like :D
Namely the victory music, some of the battle music that was alitle nerve wracking ect..
