Just opening up the discussion for such. A rival to OS&C that are 'greener', or at least more open towards gaians ideology, emphasizing the beauties of untouched nature and such. Thoughts?
That's... actually a funny idea when you think about it. The catch is, Gaians are eco-terrorists that deny any alternation to the local ecosystems, but then they were born as a movement in response to New London and Leeds' pollution and waste.
@Corile That's because he wants to create eco-friendly tourism company. OSC is one of main targets of Gaians, if memory serves me right ALTHOUGH I have no idea why they would target OSC in the first place. Maybe because of these tourists who litter the places they appear to.

And how many players would play such a faction ? The idea is cool, but in the end it would be like OSC, with very very few players actually actively playing it.
Last words are for fools who have not yet said enough.
@Lucas While technically would be like OS&C, the fact that they're more 'eco-friendly' would actually introduce some unique RP aspects:
1. 'inconveniencing' OS&C by allowing their ships and liners to 'disappear' or 'break down', while this group will 'save' these tourists from their awful choice of going with the 'exploitive' OS&C
2. spreading the Gaian ideology, making green campaigns through Sirius where litterers will be punished like criminals, scavengers/junkers/ALG are encouraged to clean up dirty places, 'activism campaigns' against planetform and heavy-industry corporations like BMM and DSE
3. ... and of course, the regular ferrying of tourists and 'green' luxury consumer goods
Gaians oppose BMM and Planetform, at least vanilia ones. OSC coincidentally is the reason Gaians have that kind of support which they boast in Freelancer.
"Business has been very good on the Shetland. The Bretonian populace enjoys visiting an unspoiled paradise like Gaia. Unfortunately, tourists' impressions of Gaia have served to increase public sympathy for the Gaian movement, making it more difficult to obtain government funds for eradicating the terrorists."
Right! But the gaians are first and foremost the 'vanguards' of Gaia and other unspoiled planets/systems, which is where the 'green front movement' ought to be handling the public speaking, but they're scientists and activists, not marketers and tourism agents.
Hence this faction will serve the niche that'll not only help the gaians gain a significant boost in both public support and financial support, but also compete against OS&C, while also allowing gaians to have a 'trader faction' to make 'legitimate' money with, rather than just smuggling illegals.
This kind of thing actually sounds more reasonable if you start sprinkling eco-religious stuff on top of it - like a mobile space-spa for hippies interested in just looking at stars from another angle. It's honestly something I've thought about tacklin' in the past, but being a niche idea within another usually means not much activity.
Being perfectly honest tho, flying as a Gaian, I'd like more people flying as usual OSC folks than something like this. But for the sake of activity alone, I'd enjoy it.
Reason why there aren't more OS&C folk is cause they're tired of playing the victim-traders. I honestly wish these big companies developed their own paramilitaries than having to rely mostly on the core police/militaries all the time.
Would make it interesting to have LPI lose out on prospects cause the tourism broker can pilot and defend his clients better than the police, heheh!
