The old Hathor was just a pleasure to fly, regardless of its performance which wasn't bad. The order started out borrowing from other factions, made sense they'd stick with a good thing. This ship is hot!
I was a fan of that model too but it also had its own set of problems. Theres still the fact that it doesn't really resemble any other order ship design, it has way too many engine intakes, and it has the zoner-esque decorative struts which the order would certainly remove as they serve no practical purpose and are weak points on the vessel. It also has no visible windows or bridge, which imo makes it look too much like a drone ship.
I would be fine with keeping the same basic shape, but it would need cockpit/bridge detail, consolidation of engines/ intakes, the wings changed to a more nephthys style/shape, and improved textures. It also still falls short of omicrons request for a supply/assault landing ship kind of utility

If you move that opening cargo bay to the back you can make something cool like the Halo's Pelican, it can even have the cockpit look like the one on the snubs order line and keep the wing engines
Ofc i am not saying to port the pelican into Discovery, but it can be used as a base idea like the cool firefly/serenity we have
something like this, just make it more Freelancish
maybe thinner and radio antennas instead of fins
it can have 1 engine in each wing and only one at the tail, instead of 4
and maybe two cockpits like the russian helicopter Mil Mi-24
loool ps skills, also door (dor)
Again this is a base idea, not asking for a port

It might look a bit too much like the Coalition gunship, but hey perhaps it can be RP'd as being based on it, and brushed off with an Order aesthetic. It'd certainly look cool.

Oh yeah the coalition gunship is one of the coolest looking ships in the game, didnt remembered about that one
both the order and coalition already fought eachother and the order must be the most effective Intelligence faction, lore-wise, so it must have eyes/moles in the coalition too, even if the coalition is one of the most diffilcut factions to spy, enough Intel or captured a disabled one to base their gunboat on their gunship, but adapted it to a more versitle role instead a pure fighting one like the coalition

Like you said it's just a mockup, make it bigger, or put a capital ship cockpit, or two smaller cockpits like mil mi-24 instead of a bigger one like i did on the mockup, just a brainstorm
When i read about the soldiers transport that's a real cool idea for rp, something like the pelican was the first thing to pop my mind and its fat enough to be a heavy gunboat
Still think we should get away from "stolen (or borrowed) ship designs"
The order didnt really begin by borrowing ships from everyone, they took one experimental battleship built by liberty, and the experimental fighters onboard, and everything they have is based on those ships. Almost all of the Order's equipment and ships say that they're based on liberty technology - just a more advanced/offshoot design of it.
That's one reason I was suggesting, at first, to base it more on the liberty gunboat - upsized, hole removed, textures changed, etc. doesnt have to look exactly like the lib gb, but a similar general shape would be a good starting point.

I agree with you the stolen ship stuff is getting old...
I tried to merge both your points and Omicron's in this one
it would have the order textures ofc and would be slimmer just like the liberty gb body
the wings might even be like the ones on the current hathor, or no wings at all, but no wings no engine wings
and the backwards cargo door like halo's pelican
That's not terrible, but the wings stick out just a bit too much. Slightly shorter, slightly down swept wings with inbuilt engines like the sekhmet model might work well.
Also, if we go with the dome style bridge, I think it should be a half-circle of windows at most, and blend backwards into the hull, that would look more fitting for a small ship like a gunboat.
Iris says she'll have some basic shapes concepted up for us in a few days.
