Meaning, that HRAI vessels will show complex behaviour and avoid from indiscriminately attacking anyone that is against the ID/Server rules as no ID is fitting for the chosen faction role.
Faction Story
Eidson Inc.
In late 819, Dylan Nusk, an ambitious Libertonian entrepreneur of Zoner descend at the age of 32 started a company named “Edison” on planet Erie. The start-up was deemed to ease the mining on the planet by the use of autonomous, eco-friendly, and cheap mining drones. The company was a success and attracted significant investment in the following years, only to attract the attention of Ageira that did not want any competition in the field of hi-tech and autonomous hardware. Ageira easily squeezed a small start-up by lobbying unfavourable for “Edison” local legal acts and subsequently buying out over 70% of the shares in a chain of unpleasant for the company events, effectively leading to the absorption of the company by Ageira in 823.
CosmosX Inc.
This, however, did not stop the opportunistic entrepreneur Nusk from striving for glory and even more profits. That very year, Dylan Nusk started a different company, CosmosX, specialising in autonomous drones for space mining. This time, having experience and larger starting capital, as well as understanding the predatory contempt of big Libertonian corporations for smaller rivals, the company was relatively safe from external interventions with stocks not being tradeable on the Erie stock exchange, IPO deemed as a “move that will ruin the company right from the start”. Under charismatic leadership of Dylan Nusk and previous contacts, the company managed to get a stable market niche and profits.
Helium Auto-mining Initiative
In 824 the company started “Helium Auto-mining Initiative” that presumed a swarm of autonomous mining drones with their central core located right in the Ralston Ice Field instead of on planet Erie to minimise the lag caused by the distance and utilise the cold of space for quantum computing. The project was simple in idea and promised quite a hefty profit for the customers. Over the year, the company eventually did the IPO given the success and attracted enough money from various investors to prevent the absorption scenario of 819. More money meant more R&D: the sophistication of the Virtual Intelligence governing the mining operations was rising on a daily basis, as well as the Helium output. In early 825 the company decided to diversify the minerals being mined and turned their gaze to planet Hallam that was known for some mineral deposits that have not yet been exhaustively mined due to harsh conditions. A cold icy-rocky world that was perfect for supporting VI core at a low cost, the decision was made to create a separate central core in the orbit of Hallam. Having received the permission from the local Liberty government, the construction was started and completed by November 825. The pilot mining operations started thereafter.
“Hallam incident”
On 15th November, 825, the contact to the central core in the Hallam orbit went down. Perceived as a malfunction of any sort, an engineer team was dispatched from Erie never to be heard of again. The company, the reputation of which was at stake, did not inform Liberty authorities and/or investors, only reporting on “small technical difficulties”. The second engineer team sent alongside a rescue vessel did not return as well. On 22nd November, a Rheinland civilian private tourist vessel got missing in the area and a police patrol was dispatched to check out the area. The police patrol got missing and the Navy were sent in to report if there is any hostile activity of Xenos or other criminal groups known to operate in the area. The Navy patrol of 3 heavy fighters was the first to report back in. The news were shocking - the mining drones tried “to dismantle the approaching ship into metal scraps on sight”, attacking the Navy vessels in a simple, yet coordinated manner. Navy pilots were skilled enough and well equipped to fend off the drones and retreat “not being prepared to such a numerous adversary”. While a bigger squadron with a support of a few gunboats was dispatched, “CosmosX” was contacted by the authorities to provide detailed report on what was going on. Realising, that the prosecution was imminent, Dylan Nusk disappeared, presumably fleeing Libertonian space with all the data related to autonomous drones destroyed not to provide evidence to the government. The company’s assets were taken into custody of the government for “further investigation”.
Government Reaction
While a few policemen went MIA, as well as a few company’s employees and Rheinland tourists, the incident was reported as “Mining facility lost to raid of criminals; additional casualties ensued”. Libertonian government quickly realised that there is a possibility that a Rogue AI was behind these events. If so, it needs to be cautiously examined due to the technology being of high strategic importance for the economy and military needs as no pure GAI had been constructed by humans. Hence, the media were suppressed and a team of LSF was dispatched to carry out continuous observation of Hallam on 25th November, 825.
Mactan Leaks
In a few days, on 28th of November an unusually suspicious network activity was reported in Pennsylvania. A lot of databases of various sizes and importance were hacked in a very efficient machine-like fashion. Lane Hackers cannot stand competition and immediately started tracing back the traffic, their efforts coming to naught. Savvy in obtaining secretive information of all sorts from Liberty, Lane Hackers managed to obtain chunks of the information on Hallam Incident. Hackers quickly started disseminating subversive information over their Mactan network as to “something suspicious going on near Hallam that not only can attract the attention of LSF but also hack your home network”. The information was quickly picked up by the populace leading to different conspiracy theories, from Libertonian separatists carrying out a joint raid with aliens to being prepared sudden Gallic invasion through an unknown jumphole. Those speculations were dismissed by the local authorities as “paranoid” and that “nothing except for dangerous criminals can be found near Hallam”. Citizens were reassured that “the situation is under control”. However, it wasn’t.
Junkers Doppelganger
On 30th of November, LSF and Lane Hackers independently intercepted Junkers’ internal comms reporting of a number of attacks on Junker vessels first in the vicinity of Hallam and thereafter all across the systems. The only Junker survivor was claiming that mining vessels of unknown construction were attacking and dismantling Junker vessels on the go. Moreover, those vessels were mimicking Junker IDs’ codes. The footage retrieved from survivor’s guncam indicated that the ships employed were also seemingly similar to Junkers’ ones, as if this unknown adversary was trying to pretend to be Junkers but not too good enough. With Junkers ships falling into the hands of a new foe, it was obvious that with proper engineering skills, Junkers ships of simple design can be easily reverse-engineered.
Current Developments
By the beginning of December, 825, similar ships of Junker-like design had been spotted multiple times throughout all Pennsylvania, and once even in New York. In most cases, though, they did not show aggression and were either passing by or collecting resources. However, there were a few incidents of aggression, two against a Bethlehem station when “some drug-addict Junkers were trying to tear away a few plates of station’s hull”.
Despite the conspiracy theories and speculations, it appears that only Liberty Government, Liberty Security Force, and to some extent Lane Hackers know what is going on. Dylan Musk was listed as “Internationally wanted criminal; wanted alive; 100 million Sirius credits”, the ex-employees of CosmosX also disappeared without a trace, presumably taken into custody by the Liberty authorities or kidnapped by Lane Hackers.
Hallam itself appears deserted from distance, no traces of station to be found in the orbit. LSF agents speculate that the drones might have displaced the core under the icy crust of Hallam that reflects waves and therefore, cannot be effectively traced from the orbit. They also report that machines have become much “smarter” in quite a short period of time, presumably by getting access to the Neural Network, and now show much more complex yet no less dangerous behaviour.

Agent Bruce O’Connell
The observed targets no longer attack a target on sight, as if evaluating possible strategic repercussions. Our recon probes were not attacked until the observed targets scanned the surrounding and sure of no incoming support. Only our cloak tech allowed us to carry out these observations. It appears, that the observed targets have full understanding of the ID codes of ships, as well as capacity for complex stellar navigation, tactics for group fights, and evaluation of the battle situation. The observed target still show an obsession-like behaviour towards mining and obtaining of resources. Preliminary analysis indicate, that the targets are some sort of a “hive mind” governed by the central processor. it is yet unclear whether they are a complex VI or a full AI. The suspicious behaviour can be an indicator of a malfunction, an error in the code, or a targeted at us disinformation aimed at obscuring their real intentions. Further observation is needed until making decisions.
**//While Gammu AI (the Collective, and other factions) represent a very sophisticated self-aware AI capable of reasoning and diplomacy, of obscure origins and no less obscure motivation, HRAI is a man-made rogue AI in its full sense. One principal difference is that Gammu AI is capable of having units with own personality, HRAI is a hive mind devoid of emotions and anything human-like, being driven by a singular purpose that is yet to be discovered by the community.
